So you watched, what, four episodes of Lost before declaring it a "cesspool of poor writing and worse acting"?

Why don't you just submit a link about how you are a better person than all of us because you don't watch TV. Meanwhile, we're going to talk about a TV show we like in here.

Yeah, Lost has had some slow shows, but the last two have been pretty good again.

But they really need to start moving it along again. A man can take only so much teasing before he turns the channel

I think the acting is pretty forced, and the show is overrated, but it's fun for a netowrk television show.

Nobody can tell ya
There's only one song worth singing
They may try and sell ya
Cause it hangs them up to see someone like you

But you've gotta make your own kind of music
Sing your own special song
Make your own kind of music
Even if nobody else sings along

You're gonna be nowhere
The loneliest kind of lonely
It may be rough going
Just to do your thing's the hardest thing to do

But you've gotta make your own kind of music
Sing your own special song
Make your own kind of music
Even if nobody else sings along

So if you cannot take my hand
And if you must be going
I will understand

You've gotta make your own kind of music
Sing your own special song
Make your own kind of music
Even if nobody else sings along

You've gotta make your own kind of music
Sing your own special song
Make your own kind of music

Yeah, Lost has had some slow shows, but the last two have been pretty good again.

Eko: "Get my stick."
"Which one is it?"
Eko: "The one that says 'Badass motherfarker' on it."

He is one badass motherfarker. Nice to see more of the tail-end survivors last episode. And I liked the lack of flashbacks. While I realize that they are important for characterization, they sometimes go too far. But maybe it's just me.

Also, what religion tells its followers to practice 40 days of silence after they kill someone?

But they really need to start moving it along again. A man can take only so much teasing before he turns the channel

Ain't that the truth. They give a question, they answer a question. But each answer produces two more questions. Unfortunately, I'm a sucker and will probably keep on getting dragged along.

But that's fine. I like the show overall. And if you don't like it, get out of the thread.

The 5th number was 24, which is 42 backwards, and 42 was 6th number in the plus 1 lottery right underneath it on the page.

Lost is the only network TV show I watch so I'm almost as better than you all than that other guy. I need to work a little harder.

If they chalk up the lotto numbers/numbers in the hatch thing to a coincidence, I'll be completly done with network TV.

Actually, the creators specifically said that they weren't in purgatory but it's a good idea.

the reason this show has gone to shiat is that the writers were making it all up as they went along. the plot isn't going anywhere, all of the mysterious stuff and the "others" and all that crap, it's all just made up for shock value. everyone thinks it's all leading to some big surprise, but it's not. the writers themselves have admitted in print that they have no idea where anything is going and simply make it up as they go. you can't have a successful mystery series without an end you're working toward. you just end up with a bunch of loose ends that never get mentioned again.

go watch the first season and a half of Twin Peaks instead. at least David lynch was going somewhere, and the writing/acting in that show is infinitely better.

I hope they release a DVD that has all the extra episodes out which have been added just to make it an extra $eason of adverti$ing revenue.

Apparently, (Marty, if my calculations are correct...) the odds of this sequence of five numbers coming up is approximately 1 in 130,691,232. That's also (obviously) the odds of the 'random pick' picking five of the numbers correctly. Since 298 people got five of six, that would mean that every person in ireland (population 4,015,676) would have had to play 'quick pick' an average of 32 times for the 298 winners to have occurred by chance alone. Since this number is roughly 6 times the amount of the previous two weeks five numbers winners, then it's reasonable to assume that a disproportionate number of people did not pick these numbers randomly. In other words, ireland is populated by a large number of people who
A) Watch lost
or
B) Know something to do with 'the numbers'

and guess what? They still only win 341euro.

very very funny :)

I like lost and desperate housewives. pretty wierd combo, at least for a guy. the only thing that bugs me about lost is the constant habit of building up to the climax and then making us wait till next week. that is good only once in a while. when it is every episode it just reminds me of farking dragonball Z, you know?

2005-11-22 02:38:48 PM
I live with some people that regard this show as "exteremely important". Its rediculous....once I stopped the tivo from recording their "lost" and there were 2 grown men stomping around screaming like little kids...unbelievable.

There are very few things on TV worth a damn...and I don't think that lost is one of them.

Good theory except for the small fact that the writers have specifically said that they are not in purgatory.

Also, Lost is the best new show in years. It's original and manages to avoid most of the formulaic crap we see constantly.

Dude. That's how you write a show that could go on for one or twelve seasons. Nothing wrong with that at all.

And are you kidding me, Twin Peaks? While there was some sort of a kind of a half-assed "solution" in the end, the show became absolutely painful to watch after just a few episodes. Lynch is the most joyless person in the world.

I don't have TV, and Lost is the only new TV show I've seen in about a year or so (I get it from iTunes). It's very interesting, and while there were a few episodes and elements that didn't work for me, it has memorable characters, often excellent writing, and it (usually) stays away from cheese.

It's a good show. Not everyone likes it, but many people HATED and still hate Seinfeld, The Simpsons, and Monty Python as well.

Thanks. I'll be here all week.

I'm just waiting for season 2 to finish, so I can grab them all in a torrent and watch them over the course of a week or two. I don't like the whole "wait 'til next week" method of viewing a series.

I started watching this season, I tend to ejoy the character driven (slow) episodes. I bought the season 1 DVDs this friday and there went my weekend. It was well worth the watch. As for it being made up as they go, in the DVD features there is a genesis of Lost bit where they talk about how they came up with the show, in this one of the writers mentions that they know exactly where the story goes for the first five years or so of the show.

2005-11-22 02:46:26 PM
That's funny, cause in the interview I read, the creators said they did have a plan and that they didn't want it to end up like X Files where it got completly chaotic at the end.

yes thank god for torrents. they really ruin you for regular television. now when i watch tv it confuses me how they have to stop every 10 minutes for stuff like cartoon bears trying to sell you toilet paper. the stone age called and it wants its commercials back.

Oh my god do people still watch TELEVISION? I gave mine to a homeless man with no legs about seven years ago and it has saved me from wasting oodles of time in that bottomless pit of fecal material that the idiot conformists can't seem to get enough of.

The very thought that you would all willingly ADMIT to enjoying some lobotomizing spectacle makes me want to vomit to death. If only more people had the depth and culture necessary to truly appreciate the simple pastimes that were sacrificed up to the idiot box... Scrimshaw, macrame, scrapbooking... Now if you'll excuse me, the mail just came and I think the new issue of Harper's is coming today.
