Was this review written by a fourth grader????

"Clooney plays a CIA agent whos a little over the hill and washed up. But hes onto the fact that the government and the oil companies are trying to stay in control through the manipulation of who becomes king."

2005-11-21 02:44:05 PM
I like how he encourages the studio to bill it as a thriller-soap opera, and make sure to put pictures of Matt Damon and Amanda Peet on the promotional posters.

Fox News knows how to appeal to the lowest common denominator, no question.

2005-11-21 02:54:45 PM
"Fahrenheit 411", huh? Subtle.

In other words, Clooney made another outstanding political film, but don't forget to keep associating him with Michael Moore, OK?

2005-11-21 03:59:37 PM
Glad he's trying to say SOMEthing. "Good Night and Good Luck," is worth checking out.

Shot in Morocco and Dubai, "Syriana" may be an eye opener to Westerners who dont give much thought to world events.

Like the average Fox News viewer?

2005-11-21 04:09:12 PM
Do Clooney wear a nipple suit in this?

2005-11-21 04:20:13 PM
*Hands Heroic Poster a "es" to add to his post.*

holy god, that article IS unreadable

2005-11-21 04:58:47 PM
Let me know when someone writes a real review. That mess was unreadable.

2005-11-21 04:59:48 PM
I love that game!

2005-11-21 05:00:39 PM
Hey, Dr. Bashir from Deep Space Nine is in this. Someone from that show is actually working, good for him.

Does Fox News know that they have to appeal to mouth breathers or are their writers really that bad?

2005-11-21 05:01:22 PM
This should be a pretty good movie...but true, not many people will get it. The adults yeah, but not the younger crowd.

2005-11-21 05:02:36 PM
Oddly enough, Fox's online reviewer actually gave Fahrenheit 9/11 an excellent review as well, if I recall correctly. I guess the online division is actually allowed some amount of individual thought (or at least the entertainment division)?

In a totally unrelated bit of news, this is the furst time I've ever commented on a Fark story, in spite of having a membership for over three years!! (I lost my password and never bothered retrieving it until now). Does that make me a newbie, a lurker or an old-timer?

2005-11-21 05:02:46 PM
I can't wait for the impending 'what is peak oil? I never thought of that!' from the Fox viewers who actually go see the film. Good to get that stuff back in the mainstream...

2005-11-21 05:03:24 PM
I gather Fox didn't have similar praise for "Good Night and Good Luck," since that was about Edward R. Murrow, the last journalist who had the cojones to stand up to corporate manipulation of the news.

2005-11-21 05:04:02 PM
smackem yackem

Um "Fahrenheit 411" is probably a reference to Ray Bradbury's science fiction book about a futuristic distopia instead of to Michael Moore... Go read it sometime, it's a pretty sweet book.

2005-11-21 05:04:38 PM
ROFLMAO!

FAUX NEWZ SUKZZZZZZ!

2005-11-21 05:05:26 PM
Was the author of that review taking a lot of cough syrup at the time or something? Yeesh. Embarassingly terrible, even for Fox.

2005-11-21 05:06:07 PM
"Fox News praises Clooney's new political thriller, warns that its viewers might not be able to follow complex subject matter"

Wow... Fox News really knows its audience.

2005-11-21 05:06:47 PM
When did Mike Myers become a "media elite"?
Guess to FOX anyone who makes a good poop joke qualifies.

2005-11-21 05:07:30 PM
Can somebody tell me what "Fahrenheit 411" means? Is it supposed to be a political movie like Michael Moore's, only about calling directory assistance? Or about April 11th? Or about obtaining gossip information from hip-hop artists via street lingo? Or is it some sort of Science Fiction anti-utopian story about people who heat books to high temperatures so they may quickly decompose and be used as compost?

Seriously, I have no idea what the significance of the number is. Is it just that it's a political movie about a conflict in the Middle East? What is the next such movie going to be called, Fahrenheit 90210? Fahrenheit 101? Celcius 22? It's all nonsense!!

2005-11-21 05:07:45 PM
What the hell was that article?! I write better hatemail while I'm drunk and suicidal.

2005-11-21 05:08:17 PM
Thanks Mugato. I saw the trailer yesterday and I thought that was him.

/"Cool! It's Dr. Bashir!"
//Wife just looked at me with a blank stare.

It's Fahrenheit Four FIFTY One dammit! 451! 451! Has anyone as Fox News picked up a book in their lifetime?

2005-11-21 05:14:52 PM
nuke1986

Isn't the book's name Fahrenheit 451?

2005-11-21 05:14:53 PM
I absolutely hate reading fiction, and I loved F451 in high school.

Anyone ever saw the movie version? It's kinda bad, in a funny way.

2005-11-21 05:15:10 PM
Whoah, Vexed Thespian! You agreed with my post 6 full seconds before it even appeared! Now that's some impressive technowitchery there, no doubt about it!

How sad that we must burn you now, vile sorceror of teh Interwebs.

Hey, Dr. Bashir from Deep Space Nine is in this. Someone from that show is actually working, good for him.

Is he billed as Siddig El Fadel or Alexander Siddig?

2005-11-21 05:16:01 PM

As a mouth breather, I found no appeal whatsoever. The writer(s) must be suck!

2005-11-21 05:16:31 PM
EvolveYouPutz: It's Fahrenheit Four FIFTY One dammit! 451! 451! Has anyone as Fox News picked up a book in their lifetime?

The Fox News watchers probably burned all their copies.

2005-11-21 05:16:50 PM
I've been looking forward to this movie for the past several months.

Oh, and the book is Fahrenheit 451. Fahrenheit 411 is just a stupid iteration of a stupid iteration of Fahrenheit 451.

2005-11-21 05:16:57 PM
Is this supposed to be a Fahrenheit 451 or Fahrenheit 9/11 reference? Seems like a reach to me in either direction.

2005-11-21 05:20:15 PM

"The headline 'Fahrenheit 411' is a reference to the documentary 'Fahrenheit 911'. There also may have been a book that riffed off the Michael Moore film title as well. That is unconfirmed."

2005-11-21 05:21:45 PM
DarrenJames: Is this supposed to be a Fahrenheit 451 or Fahrenheit 9/11 reference? Seems like a reach to me in either direction.

I think the idea was to be both, plus a reference to '411' being the number for information, this movie being Clooney's attempt at 'informing' people.

Or am I giving Fox too much credit?

Hey, Dr. Bashir from Deep Space Nine is in this. Someone from that show is actually working, good for him.

I, for one, wish to see more of Teri Farrell and Niki de Boer. Those Trills sure know how to pick their symbiotes.

ivanmarsh

According to imdb.com, he's billed as Alexander Siddig.

2005-11-21 05:24:11 PM
I heard the plot is good, but the acting is so-so. there are very predictable characters - including Clooney as the 'washed-up' CIA agent. Furthermore, I heard it (like every other contemporary Hollywood movie) stereotypes Muslims and especially suicide bombers.

Then again, I don't care much about characters. I go for the plot, message, and entertainment.

2005-11-21 05:25:08 PM
Hey, maybe the whole Fahrenheit 411 thing is just a random temperature that has something to do with an important plot element in the movie, and not related to Ray Bradbury's book or Michael Moore's movie.

Food for thought.

He was in Kingdom of Heaven as well, and Reign of Fire. He's keeping busy.

Rene Auberjonoisis doing just fine on Boston Legal with the Shat.

Micheal Dorn will continue to do crappy direct-to-cable 'B' movies until somebody stops him.

Haven't seen Terry Farrell since Becker.

I haven't seen Nana Visitor in anything at all.

Armin Zimmeriman and Colm Meaney will haunt character actor hell for the rest of their lives.

I think Avery Brooks went back to teaching.

/Met Siddig once. The guy's as skinny a swizzle stick.
//He's hiding behind the second slashie.

The guy who played Odo is on Boston Legal.

Ezri is/was on The Dead Zone. Is that show even still on?

2005-11-21 05:34:00 PM
I saw the trailer a while a go, and I knew this could be this generations 'The Jungle'.
But then I remembered that America is stupid and we won't get the warning.
/History will look back at this period and it will wonder why we didn't do something, _anything_ about the upcoming problems.
//Because its hard, and in America sacrifice is for somebody else

A mention of "peak oil." For those playing at home, this means take a drink.

2005-11-21 05:35:51 PM
I can't believe there are this many people on here that have no clue what the reference to Fahrenheit 451 is. Amazing.

2005-11-21 05:37:48 PM
PurplePimpSaber I, for one, wish to see more of Teri Farrell and Niki de Boer.

Nicole de Boer currently co-stars in "The Dead Zone" on the USA network.

there's a anti-Moore website called Fahrenheit 411 (google it). This might just be FoxNews spreading the love.
