Horny fella...
2005-11-21 11:21:44 AM
The battle of the silly pet people.
2005-11-21 11:21:51 AM
Possibly the deer that tried to hump the concrete deer was upset. Be on the lookout for a pissed off horny deer with a headache.
2005-11-21 11:21:53 AM
Which is it? A wild deer or a pet deer?
2005-11-21 11:22:09 AM
Signs of the violent attack are everywhere.

Rowdys blood and even some of his hair cover parts of the fence.

Just a few feet away Cindy tries to say goodbye.

That was a very poetic article.
2005-11-21 11:23:01 AM
I read this as "Miniature horse bored to death by neighbor's pet deer."

I need more coffee.
2005-11-21 11:23:12 AM
oh deer...
2005-11-21 11:23:51 AM

oh deer...

*smacks forehead* Doe!
2005-11-21 11:24:07 AM
Man, I hate it when that happens!

Someone should fix them a nice venison dinner to make up for it.
2005-11-21 11:24:28 AM
How many times do you have to be cited for having a wild deer as a pet in this state before they, I don't know, take it away?

And why do I think these people are from Bokeelia, not Fort Myers?
2005-11-21 11:24:57 AM
"Hes like part of the family, like one of the children."

Especially once he's barbequed and eaten.
2005-11-21 11:25:36 AM
Miniature horses, pet dears. Where do these people live the Island of Dr. Murrow?

/A Doe, a deer, a female deer, Ray the horse that gored to death.
2005-11-21 11:25:48 AM
Could have been worse, he could have been gored by a llama!

/really obscure
///also obscure

Thanks mpmalj, I came here right away to make sure that was said by somebody lol
2005-11-21 11:26:47 AM
Would have loved to hear the 911 tape on this...

"His name was Rowdy, a little miniature horse"
...As opposed to a big miniature horse?
2005-11-21 11:28:14 AM
If I saw that happen I would probably think someone slipped me acid. Or maybe that I had finaly lost it....

mpmalj: Which is it? A wild deer or a pet deer?

I'm the submitter, and I struggled with that in the headline. It's kinda sorta both. A wild deer kept as a pet. But I thought highlighting the fact that it belonged to a neighbor gave it more appeal.

"This is a six-point buck, the same size as a regular horse"

Holy crap that's a big farkin' deer... or this person's an idiot.
2005-11-21 11:30:26 AM
Violent deer?

/alrighty then
2005-11-21 11:30:35 AM
Saw this on the local sad.

I agree, the horse owners should get to have yummy venison dinner - eye for an eye!
2005-11-21 11:31:43 AM
Well if it was kept as a pet then it's not wild.
2005-11-21 11:32:21 AM
I don't think I've ever seen an article written with such drama. No doubt a frustrated poet who finally figured out that journalism pays a little better.

Not much. But a little.

2005-11-21 11:35:09 AM
omega-x: FL deer are puny compared to the ones I hunted growing up in NJ. Still wouldn't want to be gored to death by a six-pointer though!
2005-11-21 11:35:10 AM
"This is a six-point buck, the same size as a regular horse," said Strong. "Not right, couldve been a child, couldve been worse."

Because you know as well as I do that people often leave their children locked up in a pen in their backyard over night.
2005-11-21 11:37:19 AM
Well if it was kept as a pet then it's not wild.

Well...that's just WILD!

Quinzy: Well if it was kept as a pet then it's not wild

More like if it's a wild animal then it can't be kept as a pet. There's no such thing as a pet deer. It's just a deer that hasn't gored your horse and rode away on your wife yet. Or something.

People who keep exotic pets are farking morons but they do provide sweet death matches. Like the alligator/boa struggle that's going on in the Everglades now. Those crazy kids would never have found each other if some angst ridden teanaged goth didn't ditch their pet snake.

/A Doe, a deer, a female deer, Ray the horse that gored to death.

I just peed myself.... in my last pair of clean pants.
2005-11-21 11:43:33 AM
Moreau, not Murrow.
2005-11-21 11:45:13 AM
Someone should fix them a nice venison dinner to make up for it.

It was coming right for us!
2005-11-21 11:48:48 AM
My headline; Dumbass brings a Miniature horse to an antler fight.
2005-11-21 11:50:14 AM
The only way this story could be funnier would be if one of the combatants was ablaze during the fight.
2005-11-21 11:50:53 AM
We're now one aggressive deer away from a trifecta. Stay tuned kids.
2005-11-21 11:54:00 AM

My sister was once bitten by a llama.
2005-11-21 11:54:39 AM
Eat The Placenta

LOL! that pic reminds me - anyone have a .gif of 'Jared' from the "I-have-Aides" South park episode, beating a dead horse?

*crosses fingers*

Shortigo goodgirl4badboy

I noticed the poetic elements too. Littered with alliteration, absurd joy in assonance.

sense of sadness at the Searle..

Which is why

inspecting the pen, they pieced

Rowdys blood and even some

Mixed in with the grief is anger.

And so much more, I suspect the writer may be less frustrated after all that.

The recent issue of Atlantic Monthly has two horse poems but my brother has it so I cannot relay a verse or two of the second that would fit this certain situation's sadness.
2005-11-21 11:55:32 AM

Was she playing Winamp near the llama?
2005-11-21 11:56:59 AM
Mini-ponyachu. I chews you.

2005-11-21 11:57:10 AM
And to think I have problems with the neighbors & their dogs.

Wanted for questioning...
2005-11-21 11:58:16 AM
next week, that deer will be taking on my four-assed monkey in a ten round fight to the death.

check your pay-per-view for "the battle by the cattle", "the fray in the hay", "the farmhouse fracas", "the species scuffle" "the killer pet tete-a-tete"

sunday sunday sunday! if you miss this one, you better be dead, or in jail.
2005-11-21 12:00:19 PM
Doesn't suprise me at all. My grandmothers friend had a deer charge her when she walked outside to get her newspaper... broke her arm, hip, femur, some teeth, and bruised her up pretty bad.
2005-11-21 12:00:39 PM
It's a darn shame this article wasn't submitted/greenlighted - Miniature horse killed by pit bulls -- if it had been the "dead miniature horse" trifecta would have been in play.
2005-11-21 12:01:28 PM
RoachAC: farkmonger

oh deer...

*smacks forehead* Doe!

Seems kind of silly for people to fawn over a little horse so much
2005-11-21 12:02:35 PM
At the same time the deers owner has been issued several citations by FWC, which carry fines and possible jail time.

It loses some points in my book for that slight change in tone at the end. And there's no byline. Clearly this poet wishes to remain annonymous. Which is a pity because I'd like to send the journalist a rose. A single rose. A red rose. To reflect the sadness in a my heart.

Miniature horse < pet deer
2005-11-21 12:12:43 PM
quick, someone do a MUD/RPG re-enactment of the incident

/for official record-keeping purposes of course...
