I found a baby sparrow this summer that fell out of it's nest, and took it home as I could not find the nest and this was next to a very busy (high traffic) street.

Me and my wife hand feed it for weeks, and it was, probably the one little pet that I ever have attached myself to.

It was hard to have it wake me at 5am every morning to be feed, but it also was the sweetest little bird and would jump around and would even play hide and seek, seriously, it would hide, and then I'd hide and it would go find me. It would fly around and land on the kids head one after the other and maybe it's hard to really have words described it. I'd get home from work and it would hear me and call and I'd play with it every evening.

We checked everywhere for info and found that it was just too tamed, and we could not release it, but it seemed to be happy.


But then saddly, we have cats, and one managed to push the door of the bedroom (where we'd keep it) open one day and jumped the cage to the ground, did not get the bird, and caused a shock that it died a few hours later.

My little bird is now buried in the backyard with a little headstone.

I don't expect many people to understand, but this little bird touched my heart like no pet/animal ever did, and I miss it dearly. Sparrows are very special birds...


RIP my Birdy, I still miss you.
