I used to own a cat that jumped off a bridge in Paris.
He was in Seine.

/I know I know. But SOMETHING had to be said.

I don't get it...was that supposed to be a knock against Maine?

This lady's batty enough to fly across the country to adopt a cat and has a history of rescuing other cats?

The odds of her living in a urine-soaked trailer with forty or fifty malnourished pets just became incalculable.

Well, now, guess what, this is happening. [grabs Baxter, punts Baxter over bridge]
That's how I roll!

Can't blame him. His neighbor came over and started pitching crap-awful horror novel ideas.

TFA summary as a limerick:

Bridget the cat had decided
That the joy in her life had subsided
Then up showed some human
That biatch April Newman
Declared feline suicide misguided.

Okay, they gave this cat to a woman who lives an inconvenient distance from the shelter she was in because she has a psycic connection with the cat over the Public Broadcasting System? Granted the usual PBS crowd that's not that strange, but for god's sake just give the cat to someone who walks in and goes "ohh, that's a cute cat!" The last thing the poor kitty needs is some crackpot listening to the radio for further instructions on how to get the cat to the mothership.

/what the hell, voting goodness for no reason whatsoever.

"Bein' chased around,
by the neighbor's cat,
Oh it's so lonely in the state of Maine!"

Ahem. I take offense to your remark. And I have psychicly determined where you live. Expect 666 cats delivered to your home tomorrow.

38 miles north of Augusta.

That poor cat.

Maine. A great place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there.

/from Bangor to Boston without looking back.

Knocking maine only reflects poorly on the knocker... so let 'em try so we can sort out the keepers from the losers =)

Yes, I'm sure the cat would much rather be living in Boston...

Maine has it's share of problems, but overall, it's a nice place to live, regardless of what you think.

Whenever I hear the name "Thorndike," I hear the voice of Nurse Diesel (Chloris Leachman) from "High Anxiety."

I'm guessing the cat won't get any fruit cup.

Never visit a small town in Maine. Where do you think King gets all his ideas?

But.. did it land on it's feet?

That's 666 black cats, right?

/ Friday the 13th is always a lucky day for me. ;)

I personally think this cat is a reincarnated BASE jumper - one that didn't open his chute in time, of course. :D

Good think he picked a cat - AFAIK, they tend to land on their feet.

(was this over water?)

You guys like how they threw in that last line about the adopter looking for a flight that'll let a cat in the cabin? My guess is she's praying for some nice airline to come in on the publicity (read: a crappy article) and give her a free ride. I figure it's probably not going to work.

/Irrelevant

2005-11-16 03:25:27 AM
Yeah I'd contemplate jumping if I ever had to live there again

Having flown with a cat several times, it's not that hard. You just have to tell them in advance, and I think they only let like 2 pets per plane. We bought a specail soft-sided cat carrier that's designed to fit under the seat like carry on.

2005-11-16 12:31:36 PM
They let you stick a cat under a seat like carry on? I bet the person in front of you loved having a howling animal under the seat the whole ride!

Yep, Maine is just the worst place in the world to live. It's horrible, high crime rates, traffic, meth dealers on every street corner. Don't think of even visiting, it's just not worth the risk. I'm serious! Stay away! This place is hell on Earth, and we're just praying that GW will come and liberate us from the evil dictatorship we live under. Send help!
