I read for about 10 minutes, then realized that that is more than most congressmen do.

I recommend reading bills now and then and calling your congressman with your comments. You can actually talk to a senior aid rather easily if you actually have an insightful comment on something.

I remember her from that Michael Moore movie... Who played her again?

(2) all Government records concerning the life and death of Tupac Amaru Shakur should carry a presumption of immediate disclosure, and all records should be eventually disclosed to enable the public to become fully informed about the history surrounding his life and death;

So they're finally gonna tell us that he's not dead?

What a moron. Every time this woman does something stupid, I think that she can't possibly get any more stupid.

Well, here we are.

2005-11-14 10:22:31 PM
You'd be amazed if you looked at all the "private bills" that go through Congress. This isn't all that unusual in its stupidity.

2005-11-14 10:40:20 PM
Assinine! This why Congress should be a part-time job that meets one week every 2 months and pays $20k a year with no benefits.

2005-11-14 11:00:42 PM
First the USAPATRIOT act, and now this...Change is needed, NOW!

2005-11-14 11:04:33 PM
Ok, if this goes through will someone petition with me to get Gallagher's sledgehammer into the Smithsonian?

2005-11-15 12:17:51 AM
I compose better "music" than Tupac or any other rapper when I'm taking a dump.

WHERE ARE MY REPARATIONS? I AM OWED FOR PAST INJUSTICES!!

2005-11-15 12:20:32 AM
damnit, Fark, don't tell me these things

Ignorance is bliss sometimes. Quite honestly, I really don't give a damn if it's justified or not or the quality of his recordings. Legislation directly at one person is stupid, ineffectual, a waste of time, and an overreaching of power, no matter how justified the cause. And somehow I don't think this is even that.

/cough, Terri Shiavo, cough

Oh joy, the 'Cutest little Communist in Congress' strikes again.

Can i cecede from Georgia?

She's been known as a whackjob for years:

McKinney was widely regarded as one of the most incompetent members of Congress by Democrats and Republicans alike. As a prominent member of the ultra-Leftist Congressional Black Caucus, McKinney often spewed incoherent conspiracy theories about Jews and whites plotting to murder people and prevent her re-election.

Cynthia McKinney

2005-11-15 12:25:21 AM
Ahhh, yes. Georgia's own Jihad Cindy. We thought we were rid of this embarrassment a few years ago when she lost her seat, but she's back and more idiotic than ever.

2005-11-15 12:25:43 AM
Neal Boortz is gonna be all over her for this. And as the host of the number one show in Atlanta, he should!

2005-11-15 12:26:40 AM
I gave a speech in college about why Tupac is alive. I think I convinced half the class he was. Too bad I didn't believe it.

She's a nice enough lady... but its a little too much pandering for my tastes.

Still not as bad as 'Don Young's Way' AKA the $223 MILLION DOLLAR BRIDGE TO NOWHERE.

2005-11-15 12:27:21 AM
Tupac's mom was an activist for what I deem to be worthy causes (some of you conservo-farkers would strongly disagree), but Tupac turned out to be a farking apolitical knuckleheaded gangbanger. "Only God can judge me"... gimme a break. He brought that crap on himself, and the Bank of Karma decided to foreclose on his sorry ass. Fark Tupac.

2005-11-15 12:28:16 AM
hm... While this sounds like a perfectly reasonable endowment for art in the public interest, that's not really the national goverment's job. I just checked Article 1 of the U.S. Rulebook, and "To promote the progress of science and useful arts" is there, but with the caveat "by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries".

This is a job for a State government.

2005-11-15 12:29:20 AM
For the record, There is no way in hell Tupac is actually dead. Take a look at how many records have come out since his "death" full of new, never released, just discovered, bonus material.

No Farking way.

2005-11-15 12:30:46 AM
this is exactly like about one billion bills proposed yearly by congresspeople to honor their pet notable.

2005-11-15 12:31:07 AM
God, am I embarassed to live in Atlanta.

I am SERIOUSLY considering a move back home to Tampa.

2005-11-15 12:32:37 AM
This did not even make the local news in Atlanta tonight. How the hell it made national I do not know..I can say this. We here in Atlanta decided a few years ago this biatch was nuts. Need I say more.

2005-11-15 12:32:38 AM
Tupac is dead. I killed him. With ma ryhmes. Cuz its bout time. To glock the slime. WORD.

Two-flush Per-poo.

That's what I called my roommate in college.
The guy ate way too much fiber.

2005-11-15 12:33:05 AM
I work in a record store on the other side of the world to the US... and we have had SEVEN albums of 'new' material by Tupac come out since 1996. He even manages to update his sound according to current trends, which is pretty cool... I suppose...

2005-11-15 12:33:52 AM
Do we really pay these ass hats to put this out? I mean, she didnt even use the correct "ensure/insure," unless this bimbo meant she wanted to provide insurance for the disclosure of documents relating to Tupac's death.

Oh, and not to mention the standard farkin "having solved the rest of the problems facing..."

Fargin bastiges!

2005-11-15 12:34:29 AM
to provide for the creation of the Tupac Amaru Shakur Records Collection at the National Archives; and a second repository at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia

This will go quite nicely next to the Confederate War Memorial

2005-11-15 12:35:45 AM
And the world wonders why Blacks will never be able to build a successful nation w/o White assistance.

2005-11-15 12:36:23 AM
BlueGreenSwirly--as much of a whackjob as whoever said the Congressional Black Caucus was "ultra-Leftist". Not that they're not liberals, but "ultra-Leftist" seems a bit much. That said--and take this however you will--she also believes that Bush had advance knowledge of 9.11, even going as far as to hold an actual briefing on it in Congress this year. The Wiki-search to find the proper word for that meeting also dug out the fact that it was not McKinney but her FATHER who blamed the Jews for her defeat in 2002. Somewhat ironically, at least one of the MANY 9.11 skeptics credited/blamed the Jews for her getting her seat back the next election.

2005-11-15 12:38:57 AM
About as relevant as the pet rock.

/collect this

biggeek6: "Assinine! This why Congress should be a pogram.art-time job that meets one week every 2 months and pays $20k a year with no benefits."

Agreed....except htey should only be allowed to meet two weeks of the year. Period.

NO lifetime full-pay "pensions" (or close), free healthcare for themselves, their spouses et al, and certainly NO option to divert the 15% of their gross pay from "social security" to a more elective INVESTMENT program.

When they dedicate the collection, I wonder if they will serve Snoop Dogs at the reception???

She's a congresswoman using her powers to answer a personal or communial desire to know more about information that was not revealed for no reason.

/Frankly this isn't too bad compared to what some other congressmen do, IMHO.

Could be worse.

The National Mandatory Karaoke Day Act.

Who cares? I see 14-year olds wearing Tupac t-shirts and worship him like a god when he was shot when these kids couldn't even walk. He's dead, let it go.

can someone explain exactly what act is supposed to accomplish for those of us too lazy to interpret the legal-eez?

2005-11-15 01:31:21 AM
This woman is completely insane. She had visions, she wants reparations, she thinks the Jews are out to get her. My friend in Atlanta used to send me links to articles about this nutjob. Comedy Gold.

2005-11-15 01:32:35 AM
Oh Jesus Farking Christ,
This crazy biatch represents my district. I was glad when we got rid of her in 2002 when Denise Majette beat her in the primary. But then the dems had to fark it up in 2004 when they let Majette run for senate (thereby vacating her seat) against Johnny farking Isakson (like she had a chance in hell of winning) thus paving the way for Mckinney to come back to congress and start the shiat-storm back up again. I hope to God that Majette runs again in 2006 and if she wins, she keeps her ass in the House to keep McKinney from ever representing my district again.

/jaded.

For a moment I was thinking "No way! Cynthia McKinney would never want to preserve Tupac's works! There must be some twist to the story."

Then I realized I was getting Rep. McKinney confused with Catherine MacKinnon.

2Pac was an amazingly gifted musician, contrary to what the "Rap is Crap!" crowd might say. To the urban youth of America, he was their John Lennon, Jim Morrison, and Bob Dylan all rolled up in one. And, not surprisingly to those who really knew 2Pac's wide array of talents, he could really rival any of those three any day when he wanted to. For example, 2Pac's poetry:

When your hero falls from grace
all fairy tales r uncovered
myths exposed and pain magnified
the greatest pain discovered
u taught me 2 be strong
but im confused 2 c u so weak
u said never 2 give up
and it hurts 2 c u welcome defeat
when ure hero falls so do the stars
and so does the perception of tomorrow
without my hero there is only me alone 2 deal with my sorrow
your heart ceases 2 work
and your soul is not happy at all
what r u expected 2 do when ure only hero falls.

And I'll bet if this were Bob Dylan's records collection, then most farkers would say this act would be sensible for the sake of contributing to the immortalization of American music. Well guess what? 2Pac belongs up there as well.

Bucknutz:can someone explain exactly what act is supposed to accomplish for those of us too lazy to interpret the legal-eez?

I read it quickly. I think it says "Yo' National Archivist Museum Dude. You gotz ta get on da ball wit' diz Tupac biznaz. And if da Poh-leez get in da way, I'm gonna' make a lotz of subsectionz of lawz n' shiat so dat you can cut thru dat bullshiznit. And I should care either way why?

Oh trust me, there's way dumber bills floating around Capitol Hill.

The Banana Thug

Oh, Sheesus. You just made my brain bleed... reads like crappy high school poetry. I'd sooner commission a 10th-grade girl who just got dumped by her first boyfriend to write me some moving poetry.

Scarbepi

2Pac's music sold about 40 million copies. Yes, you read that right. And all that before he turned 25 years old.

Sorry to burst your anti-rap bubble, but the number clearly speaks for itself.
