I had thought Catholics were supposed to be above the evolution debate:

VATICAN CITY - A Vatican cardinal said Thursday the faithful should listen to what secular modern science has to offer, warning that religion risks turning into "fundamentalism" if it ignores scientific reason.

Cardinal Paul Poupard, who heads the Pontifical Council for Culture, made the comments at a news conference on a Vatican project to help end the "mutual prejudice" between religion and science that has long bedeviled the Roman Catholic Church and is part of the evolution debate in the United States.

Thats when they break away and form their own little more conservative group, like what Mel Gibson's sect did when they got furious at Vatican 2 and broke away to get back into the heights of religious greatness of the 12th century.

No, KyngNothing, I just notice little facts such as when an organization that Supports people's civil liberties all the time ... by taking every legal action they can against Religion.

The ACLU is fighting to keep fundies from legislating (i.e., forcing) their goofball mythology into public school science courses and bastardizing the minds of the young.

Ooooh, poor Religion! If they can't do it on their own they shouldn't try to co-op the stupid state-runned institutions. Those are bad enough to begin with.

It did recently move to Florida. Apparently a bunch of students got farked out of their tuition when it did.

I would like to point out that science is older than Christianity. Science is as old as civilization; Christianity... just over 2000 years. Science has survived several attempts by religion to shut it up, but has come back each time stronger. I have faith that this current attempt to prevert science will be short lived and lead to a greater interest as a result.

Dominos pizza sucks btw. God bless the Vatican for their statement yesterday.

When religion keeps creeping into the government, yeah, they do do that, and I hope they bash it right into the ground.

Your understanding of what "civil liberties" are leaves something to be desired.

repeat after me: THOU SHALT NOT QUESTION SCIENCE, NOR MAKE LESS OF YOUR SCIENTIST MASTERS.

Ironically, the ability to question itself (and everything else) is the intellectual adaptation that is helping science out-compete superstition in the evolution of ideas.

Once the Christians (or any other religion for that matter) get their much-wanted theocracy, I will be the first to volunteer to be up against the wall. I'd rather die than live in a society ruled by some 2000+ year old notion of a invisible being in the sky.

I do believe the ACLU's argument involves the SEPERATION of church and state, (it's a kinda law type thing) not an attack on religion. However the people PUSHING ID claim it's not ABOUT religion... So I guess the ALCU will just have to argue that it's not SCIENCE either

So far, they haven't let me down.

Me either, and I wish them all the luck in the world in battling mouth-breathing fools who support Intelligent Design.

Well color me SHOCKED!

Shocked that the ACLU is helping preserve our civil rights? Or "shocked" because ... wait, I can't even tell what your point is, except to be a reactionary anti-ACLU tool. Care to enlighten us?

Monaghan ultimately sold the Tigers to his competitor Mike Ilitch of Little Caesar's Pizza parlors in 1992. Combining his passion for pizza and baseball, his autobiography was titled Pizza Tiger.

Interestingly, Domino's headquarters is at 30 Frank Lloyd Wright Drive, Ann Arbor. Just three doors down from teh Thomas More Law Center.

Domino's was bought out in 1998 by a consortium headed by Bain Capital, the same folks who are bidding on Dunkin' Donuts.

You be the judge.

Nah, that's not ironic. It's just sensible and Bacon knew it:

Well, speaking for many Canadians, sometimes we're laughing because we're watching Trailer Park Boys, and sometimes we're laughing at the antics of our own homegrown fundies, but yes -- whenever this "debate" comes up, we're pointing south and cackling like hyenas.

I used to live in Ann Arbor, which is where Dominoes has it's headquarters.

They are one of the biggest contributors to "right to life" organizations on the frigging planet. It's owned and run by Bible thumping neocon fundies, God Damn them.

This does not surprise me at all.

"I remember when I was a kid some people in my church didn't want to buy groceries at a store they thought was owned by some Mormon. They were fundamentalist fools.

So now we have a pizza chain that is related to ID somehow and the opponents of ID are talking just like the fundamentalists. Nice. Secularism is rapidly become a religion."

Are you suggesting we should go through life carefully ignoring companies that do something we object to? Is this what you consider being responsible?

Hypothetically speaking, if there was a company that you knew was killing people - innocent people - so as to keep their profits from being impacted, would you consider a boycott of them as being wrong?

Seriously, I am desperately trying to understand you way of thinking.

Wouldn't "your dog wants crazy bread" mean that your dog no longer wants anything from Dominos and instead wants something from somewhere else, i.e. little caesars? Amazing how it appears to be too complex to grasp...

Good headline.

Anyone ever have Happy's pizza. Good. When I worked at Domino's I would participate in taste tests every week, probably the reason I am on chemotherapy today (just kidding). They had a breakfast pizza that was nasty.

Isn't a problem buying booze on Sunday here in Chicago. Also a couple Presidents were Unitarians or Deists and as such not exactly Christians. And more have been Episcopalians than any other denomination. And Episcopalians hardly ever get up in anyone's business, especially not about boobies or beer.
