Go Kings!

hackyourmacaroni: f-tards

it's 8-0

in the new NHL

there ARE NO TIES

EVER

No, but there are overtime and shootout losses.

hackyourmacaroni

Ya, but OT losses still need their own column, so it is 8-0-0.

zpb52: You can keep beating the Blue Jackets all you want...wait til you play a real team.

Well, they did beat up on the Kings- first place in the Pacific.

And Calgary, the last Western Conference champ.

I'd say those are "real" teams.

/Yeah, the one loss is to Vancouver. So what?

2005-10-26 02:26:57 AM
Wow. Other than the Wings, the central division doesn't get much crappier.

Enjoy it, but it won't last, especially when 3 of your victories have come from shootouts. I like the Preds, but Cup contenders they are not.

That being said, Go Sens Go!

2005-10-26 02:28:37 AM
Oh, and the only reason this is news is cuz the Preds have sucked so hard for so long.

/Worthless expansion team.

2005-10-26 02:29:47 AM
Holy moley what? Jeez and my Sharks are ... mediocre. Curse of the darned Bay Area. I cursed them so much it's caused a curse on their teams. My plot backfired! But I have no blessing spells, egad.

Hey Red Wings fans, the only numbers that matter are Canucks 4, Red Wings 2. In all seriousness though, the Wings look good this year. Almost as good as the Canucks.

MisterJ: Hey Red Wings fans, the only numbers that matter are Canucks 4, Red Wings 2. In all seriousness though, the Wings look good this year. Almost as good as the Canucks.

Yeah, yeah. Let's just hope Bertuzzi doesn't hand out any more cheap shots.

/Straight up goon.

Capt_Evil

I hope y'all are enjoying your fancy-pants 8-0-0 record, but your lucky streak will end soon enough. Everybody knows the Oilers are gonna take the season.

Oh yes, it shall be done.

That would be nice, but I don't see it happening.

/Oilers losing makes bay Jesus cry
//He must cry alot
///From Tennessee, hates the preds, loves the oilers
////but not as much as slashies

2005-10-26 02:35:46 AM
i hope the Canucks fans come out in full force and stuff this Red Wing nonsense. Our losses are in SO to the Oilers and in regulation to the Wild....

/REd Wings Suck

The only team from Canada I give a half-a-damn about is the Senators...because if your team's name ends in "ators", you kick ass.

The Mighty Duckinators suck ass, despite having Sergei.

He lost a bet I tell ya..

2005-10-26 02:41:28 AM
hmmm

never got the Red Wing hate.
They kicked Colorado's ass from here to Jupiter

(and yes I know it's the Mighty Ducks. Nothing like being named after a kids movie)

2005-10-26 02:44:08 AM
Sweater Girl: The Mighty Duckinators suck ass, despite having Sergei.

Sergei's been on the DL since the 14th.

He was never great anyway. Very good, yes. But not as good as everyone believed. He never fit in with the Wings anyway, their philosophy being team based, not star based. For a long time, the Wings didn't have any dominant players because they played as a team. Much like the Pistons. They shared the love.

Hockey is the greatest sport in the world, and this year it's been better than ever with the rule changes.
Fast, fun, exciting.

Anyone who doesn't watch it is simply missing out, especially during the playoffs.

Yes, I'm sure it's great. Too bad that idiot Bettman and his henchman sold out for a couple of extra bucks and put it on a channel that I and a lot of other people can't get. I thought they learned their lesson from the sports channel debacle. It's kind of hard to grow your audience share when huge chunks of your audience doesn't even know you exist and existing fans can't watch if they want to.

2005-10-26 02:45:35 AM
j z: Yes, but the Red Wings are #1 in the power rankings on ESPN.com.

TSN has the Sens as #1 in the power rankings, Detroit comes in at #2, I'd trust a Canadian site before an American one on anything hockey related.

On that note GO SENS GO

2005-10-26 02:47:40 AM
The Sens are doing mighty fine this year. I am recieving fewer taunts at work as a result, and can mention I like them without people going "WTF?! Why?" quite so much. Also, my boyfriend is furious about the Leafs which also makes me happy.

I believe Legace only needs one more win this month to get the NHL record for most wins by a goaltender in the month of October at 10. He is currently tied with several other goaltenders for wins in the month at 9 (all from the early 90s I think). They play Chicago twice before the month ends.

If it wasn't for their new no bullshiat coach, I'd say they'd probably set the league record for most wins in the season, then get knocked out in the first round in 5 games, but I think Babcock means business and they look to have a good chance at a run for the cup, they are doing this well without Yzerman, btw.

Goals for/against at +23, best in the league by far.

Especially this Canadian.

I just think he's cute:)
Yzey and Shanny are my favorite Wings when it comes to action on the ice.
McCarty will always have a special place in my heart for doing what he did on behalf of Draper.
This was years ago, though. When I lived in Detroit. Now I root for the Preds. They really have the heart behind the playing.

2005-10-26 02:50:39 AM
Sens suck, sens sucks

2005-10-26 02:51:42 AM
i'm still mad lou overpaid so much for malachov - overcompensating for the loss of neidermayer and stevens, and eating up pretty much any wiggle room we had with the cap.

now we'll probably have to trade kozlov who seems to have decent chemistry with uber-rookie zach parise (who has been lost in the crosby-ovechkin shuffle might i add)

2005-10-26 02:52:46 AM
Sweater Girl: McCarty will always have a special place in my heart for doing what he did on behalf of Draper.

Yeah, I freaking miss that guy. He was a baddass on the ice, a class act off the ice.

Sad to see him go. He loved the Wings and vise versa.

2005-10-26 02:53:51 AM
Preds are doing well? Perhaps I'll have to start vaguely following them... I'm still recovering from Vandy.

Blech.

Yankees Team Gynecologist

Your team sucks.

2005-10-26 02:58:13 AM
a class act off the ice.

He sure was. Went out of his way for cancer fundraisers. there was lliterally nothing you could ask him to donate his time to that he wouldn't go out of his way to attend.
Good summary, badass on the ice and taking care of business. Absolute gentleman off the ice.

2005-10-26 02:58:14 AM
Go Kings Go!!! They beat the Ducks tonight, so that's even better.

I'm telling you, the Kings will win the division if half their team doesn't wind up on IR this year.

Go Flames Go!

2005-10-26 03:08:44 AM
go Oil!

/not the kind in barrels
//barrels would probably be winning more games than the Oilers have this season

2005-10-26 03:09:43 AM
Too bad our football team can't have the same luck. Poor Titans :( Poor biatches.

2005-10-26 03:15:13 AM
whydoIlovethevikings: I would be willing to bet a majority of tennessee residents would be astounded to learn they even have a professional hockey team.

True.

They don't know about the NBA team, either.

Here are the teams they beat this season:

Sharks
Mighty Ducks
Avalanche
Coyotes
Blues
Blues
Sharks
Blackhawks

Excuse me while I laugh my ass off at the meager quality of their opposition. If they played in the Northeast, they'd get eaten alive. The Habs 14 points are worth twice as much as theirs, since they play in the most grinding, competitive division in hockey.

2005-10-26 03:27:27 AM
I'm counting quite a few teams you listed as being playoff contenders.
What would you consider competition? The Rangers?

j z: Behold the greatest game in NHL history

Hell farking yes!

Best game I've ever seen.

2005-10-26 03:29:46 AM
Actually, the Northwest is the toughest division in hockey. But the northeast is a close second.

/note, also, that they're the two divisions with three canadian teams in them. Coincidence?

2005-10-26 03:32:31 AM
The Avs and the Sharks are the only teams even close to being good in that list, and they have struggled badly. In the East, you've got the Sens, Flyers, Bruins, Habs, Lightning, and (I hate to say this) Leafs who are all strong teams. In the West, it's the Wings, Canucks, and maybe the Avs if they shape up, and that's it. The rest are bad, and the ones on this list are awful (excpet the Avs and Sharks).

Ishkur:

I don't think the Northwest is anywhere near as difficult as the Northeast this year. The Oilers are terrible, and the Flames can't score. Who's going to give you easy points in the NE? At the beginning of the season you might have said the Sabres, but they're kicking ass.

2005-10-26 03:35:35 AM
Yeah, the Leafs are good.

dammit

2005-10-26 03:36:53 AM
I didn't check after the last game (sucks that when Outdoor Life carries a game, the local Fox affiliates are DENIED, and my cable carrier only carries OLN on the digital packages), but right after the game two ago for the Wings, the Red Wings were 1 goal ahead of the next closest team in goals for, and 8 goals ahead of the next team after that.

So, there's some definite scoring going on by the wings. Of course, it never hurts to play Columbus early in your season. (wings pounded them 9-1 preseason)

2005-10-26 03:37:25 AM
Just you wait till Calgary picks up the pace a lil'...

2005-10-26 03:42:33 AM
This year has yet to be spoken for...northwest teams standings look a bit deflated because all they've been mostly doing for the month of October is playing each other. Their stats will beef up when they get around to other divisions.

I don't see anyone in the northeast worth much of a sneeze at, except Ottawa. They're scary good. Canadiens don't have depth, Boston don't have coaching (or goaltending), and Buffalo don't have skill. And the Leafs? ...ha ha ha. They haven't won anything in nearly 40 years, what makes you think they're going to start now?

They're riding on enthusiasm at the moment, it being the hotbed of hockey and a new NHL and everything, but the season is a marathon, not a sprint. When the dog days hit, watch those teams head south like clockwork.

2005-10-26 03:56:46 AM
Detroit and Nashville get to play Columbus 8 times each this season. They should blow everyone away this season thanks to those 16 free points.

And all of the 100-plus douchebags who are about to come in here to tell us all about how hockey sucks and they don't care about it can go fark a basketball.

Too bad we don't have a KARMA meter here, dude. You just earned a ton! Just got back from the Kings game tonight- we thumped the Ducks. And we got a terrific cartoon on the jumbtron showing Cartman beating up a Duck and then throwing him against a Duck banner to reveal a "Kings Rule!" logo behind it. God I love this sport!

2005-10-26 04:21:47 AM
Good: I recorded a hockey game during work and am watching it now.
Bad: It's the Pens/Panthers game...

The Preds/Hawks game apparently had a few fights in it, including one 3 seconds from the start.

...no disrespect to Lemieux or Crosby, but I want to see players give blood!

2005-10-26 04:23:33 AM
ARRRRGGHHH!!
I love hockey threads, but I taped last nights Phi-Mtl game and can't watch it for another 6 hours... :o(

Therefore, I cannot read this thread until then so as to avoid seeing the score, but until then:
Go Flyers!
Leafs suck!

2005-10-26 04:28:01 AM
Two points:

1.) Screw you, Leaf fans.
2.) People laughed when I choose Steve Sullivan in the hockey pool. Who's laughing now? Ha ha ha.

2005-10-26 04:42:45 AM
Hockey and Nashville go together like Poutine and Jack Daniel's.

2005-10-26 04:44:06 AM
Oh, and I forgot to mention, the day a team named after a lame Disney movie wins the Cup is the day I stop watching hockey.
