Wow unenthusiastic first p*sts. Anyway i guess i can see why, sorta interesting but, just wil bein wil, with some reporter.

hey wil, you're missing an L from your first name.

Ya know, if you ramp up the positron flow through the LCARS matrix, and reroute the data pipe to Main Engineering, you can type more than one sentence at a time in an interview and not be nearly as annoying to read.

wil_wheaton: I put on my robe and wizard hat.

Disposable Rob: What was that all about?'

It was about Wheaton on his cocaine trip while doing a live action Dungeons and Dragons play at a Comic Con... then he wakes up and realizes he has to get out of the retirement home before the horny widows realize, "Hey, it's that kid from Star Trek!"

2005-10-25 01:10:19 AM
I just wish he'd stop making those stupid "Left Behind" movies....

2005-10-25 01:14:35 AM
My friend Heather here in Lexington once interviewed Wil over the phone for the local paper a few years back... actually sounded more excited when she told me about it than she did when she found out she was pregnant. *laughs* HUGE Trekkie (not like I'm much better).

Wil - Keep keepin' it real for us geeks, brotha' man.

2005-10-25 01:18:54 AM
hey Wil, since i know you will read this, mind a quick question?

-- Excerpted from an instant messaging conversation with David M. Ewalt on Oct. 20, 2005. IM names have been changed to protect the geeky.

Since it says it's excerpted, did you by any chance log this and could offer up the whole thing? Would be interesting to see what was asked but left out and all that, but if not, hey that's cool to.

Holy crap, that's just about the most surreal Forbes article ever. I wonder, did they go through the IM log and purposefully remove all punctuation and capitalization to make it look more hip? I don't know much about Wil Wheaton, but I'm pretty sure that if he knew that everything he said would end up in Forbes, he'd at least make sure to capitalize and punctuate his sentences.

Wheaton? wtf, mate? Are people just making up their own tags now or is there actually a tag for some random actor/blogger?

2005-10-25 01:22:45 AM
Why y'all hatin' on Wil?

2005-10-25 01:24:17 AM
HA HA, I've done an IM interview before.

Check the FarQ. Specifically, Farkisms.

Chomsky, Cronkite, Goodall, Vonnegut ...and Wheaton?

No.

2005-10-25 01:28:53 AM
My, my. Tsk tsk tsk. Catch up on your Weaton-history, people!

2005-10-25 01:29:52 AM
More specifically I should add that Chomsky, Cronkite, Goodall, and Vonnegut are all heroes of mine for various reasons, so when I see somebody else mentioned alongside them, with his own (new?) fark tag, I can't help but click on the discussion.

I'll re-read the Farkisms, blahpers, though I've been around here for probably a year now. Thanks.

Will is/was a longtime and early supporter of Fark. He use to accompany Drew to do interviews on obscure geek shows. (Tech TV)

In any case he seems like a good guy and a sincere geek, which makes him more likable than 90% of the people in Show Business.

If you really want to incite a riot, question the merit of the Walken tag.

Thanks for the additional explanation. Unlike this tag, the Walken tag made sense to me from the very beginning.

2005-10-25 01:36:17 AM
I, for one, like his Onion column. I read it every week.

Although I was an 80s video-gamer, I never knew there were so many damn variations on Donkey Kong.

I find that his greasy geek ass does wonders for my chapped lips this time of year...

CableGuy:
Yeah, but Walken's a legend. I had never heard of Wheaton until this thread. Obviously, now that I know he was an early fark member/supporter it makes sense to me, but on the surface it sure didn't.

It's funny watching all the 'why wheaton?' posts. I actually came across fark because of wil...

I have yet to see this Walken tag. Anyone have a pic they can post of it?

StillH2O: I've been registered for maybe a year or two, and lurked from time to time before then. I suppose that makes me new to a lot of people.

well, i wouldn't consider you new... but to have not seen a wheaton tag in the last two years? i'm newer than you are and i've seen it at least a dozen times. guess there's a difference between new and n00b.

I did an IM interview one time...but it was with my best friend for a paper for my freshman english class. I'm not sure if that counts.

2005-10-25 02:38:49 AM
OK, who's this "Goodall"? That's really close to my last name....It's not that Jane womon, is it? I'm not related to them closely, or anything, but we may have some distant relatives in common.

Oh, and I had a crush on Wesley, but I'm pretty sure it's just because he was the only one on the Star Trek, (which I used to watch with my dad) that was remotely close to my age. Jean Luc always had a sexier accent.

/again, that whole wine thing
