Here in Los Angeles, all our politicians are turds.

which 'Victoria, Canada,' idiot submitter? Like 'Paris, USA,' there are more than one. Unlike 'Paris, USA,' there's not 18 of them.

Kinda cool to see there are a few Victoria Farkers. I live in Sidney, but same shiat, closer to the ferry.

Being one of the Victoria BC farkers, I would like to be the first to welcome our new fecal overlord... and its about time, too!

If we'd had a turd running this country for the past six years, we might have peace, repealed drug laws, and some of our dot com loot back.

Instead, we got something far, far worse...

Jebus Farking Keyrist.

You don't say Los Angeles, America, do you? NO. You say Los Angeles, California.

Why, therefore do asshats insist on putting "Canada" after our cities' names? It's Victoria, BC - or even Victoria, British Columbia.

"Victoria, Canada" is what we put on overpriced T-Shirts sold to dumb-assed tourists.

[/rant]

Anyway, this shows the power of smart marketing. Of COURSE he can't actually run, but it's getting a boatload of free publicity about the insane practice of pumping raw sewage into a sensitive waterway.

/Go Floatie!

It's funny because my good friend Ben Isitt is also running for mayor of Victoria.

2005-10-18 04:02:06 PM
wow. victoria farkers. who knew ? I knew even less about the dumping of raw sewage into the straight. that's just disgusting no matter where you live, let alone in a beautiful area of the world like that.

His supporters are called party poopers.

Mr Floatie's costume isn't that good. He should sew on some large pieces of corn to make it more "belivable"

2005-10-18 04:12:01 PM
I'm voting Ficus again, anyway.

/obscure?

2005-10-18 04:12:17 PM
I dunno if any of the Vancouver-based Farkers remember a political activist named Brian "Godzilla" Salming who ran the Gnu Democrat Rhino Reform Party in the early to mid-90's. He legally changed his name to Ronald F***ing McDonald, dressed in the trademark yellow jumpsuit complete with candy-striped arms, clown makeup and red wig. He also went around with a string of marijuana leaves around his neck, a bottle of cheap whiskey in one hand and a Marlboro cigarette in the other.

His campaign consisted of him distributing leaflets with pictures of serial killers on them with the campaign slogan: "Vote for the clown or else I'll kill you."

I woulda voted for him. Clowns are scary!

A giant piece of shiat that ISN'T from Alberta? What is the world coming to?

2005-10-18 04:42:52 PM
I am SO voting for the Floatie. Then, finally, I could say with PRIDE that my mayor was a piece of shiat, instead of saying it with shame.

As for the third part of the Victoria Trifecta - It HAS to be something about the Q-Tips that drive around Oak Bay in Buicks.

Only if it includes vanilla slices from Lunn's. Those things are like pastry-crack.

I found the TRIFECTA!!!!

But there's nothing on the link!

Its the link about when Wilkinson Rd. Prison let out the guy that had over 80 Sexual assaults.

/link works for me!

I think it was "80 convictions". 80 sexual assaults would ensure that he never, ever got out (Dangerous Offender designation).

/sorry for splitting hairs...

Timbits:

Yup, 80 Convictions, some of them being sexual assault.

Some others were "obtaining food fradulently"

Also, you should know that the guy was
Ryan Ziegler..

yes the same one that was put back into jail since the Fark posting, then let out again two months ago -then- re-incarcerated with in 48 farking hours.

I mean, honestly.. This guy is no good.

His probation rules that he cant go near
schools,
liquor stores,
churches (because one of his offenses was 'displaying the wang' to a 9year old IN CHURCH)

This basically means he needs to stay out of Esquimalt and Vic West, also Gorge, Tillicum, Shelbourne (From McKenzie to Hillside).

Maybe Mr. Floatie will deal with this shiathead?

"Victoria dumps ELEVEN MILLION GALLONS of shiat into the Strait every day."

Technically, that's 'sewage', not shiat... and considering the strait is 20-30 kms across, and several hundred long, with 2-8 knot tidal flows, the dumping is really insignificant.

I've heard that the water in the strait gets flushed out several times during a given day. The tide flow is one of the most intense on earth due to the narrowing of the strait as it flows towards Victoria/Port Angeles.

More harm will be caused by creating water treatment plants on the Island.

/Still tempted to vote for Mr. Floatie however...

jicon: More harm will be caused by creating water treatment plants on the Island.

Please explain.

Think the stupid tag is really more appropriate here. At least Solsra got a TotalFark membership out of it.

I'm Mr Hanky, the Christmas poo..
Seasons greetings to all of you..
Lets sing songs, and dance, and play..
Now, before I melt away..
Here's a game I like to play..
Stick me in your mouth and try to say..
"Howdy ho ho, yum yum yum
Christmas time has come!"

(so sorry for that - it started playing in my head when I saw the article)

Infrastructure costs. I'm unsure the money could be better spent on developing along Johnston St. or cleaning up the Gorge. I'd imagine some important programs would need to be slashed in order to fund the plants.

No one will want to live by the expensive, foul and loud treatment plants either.

I remember reading either in the TC, or somewhere on the web that city engineers consider the strait to provide a much better filtration system than anything the city could buy. The sheer volume of water flowing thru the strait ensured there being no harm to humans/animals.

I guess he'll have to hang out in Langford, then. Oh, well, at least he'll blend in.

2005-10-18 09:06:23 PM
Wow, that's pretty farking scary. I work in sewage (well not *in* sewage, as that would be pretty nasty, but in the field:) in Ontario, and had no idea shiat like this was going down in BC. Guess I'm in my little provincial bubble...
Go Mr. Floatie, if I lived there you'd have my vote.

God, don't you hate it when your hometown makes Fark? I mean, getting Fark's attention is very rarely a good thing.

Lots of Victoria area farkers here. Nice to be known for a dude in a turd suit (how many greenlit threads have we had about Mr. Floaty now?).

Not that sewage treatment isn't an unimportant issue, but I think homlessness and drug use are far more pressing concerns to be discussed during the election campaign and then addressed by the mayor of Victoria be he Mr. Floaty or Mr. Lowe (sewage outflow being more within the domain of the CRD).

Personally, I'd vote for Mr. Floaty just for the possibility of an AP photo of a turd opening a safe injection site.

I wonder how much fun it is surfing in shiat?

Come to Fark more often, you'll see.

2005-10-19 07:19:56 PM
jicon is right that treatment isn't needed....

Add that if you install treatment, you have to deal with whatever contaminants get transferred to the resulting sludge. I did a project on this for school and came to the conclusion that unless the population of Victoria doubled (or more) or major industry moved to town, the status quo was the way to go.
