When he gets fired he's probably gonna regret not getting on the sex boat.

The new owner has said Tice is good for the rest of the season. It's probably too late to change coaches to make any difference this year, anyway. I'd rather they fire him at the end of the year and then spend a good amount of time hiring a good coach, not just someone who happened to be available.

But damn, when you get nearly 300 yards and only get 3 points out of it, I'm sure it was an ugly game to watch. I think I'm glad I was out playing golf instead.

When my division looks like this:

Packers (my team): Franchise QB has no help and is nearing retirement. Defense couldn't block Tic and Tac with Toe.
Lions: Despite having all the weapons a QB could ever want, said QB is maturing into a full-grown bust right before their eyes.
Vikings: Decided that parting with Randy Moss would do wonders for their team (though I'd have done it too, if just to be rid of Randy Moss, because... Randy Moss). Then they started losing. Went to a boat. Had Stewie's Pity Sex Party.
Bears: Horrible as usual.

...it raises a compelling case to only award 7 division titles this season.

It must really suck to be Culpepper....

2005-10-17 01:26:43 PM
Randy used to talk about how he took all the controvery off the rest of the team. When they lost he took all the blame with his dumb antics and what not.

Well, looks like he was telling the truth.

The Vikes suck without him. I love the new revamped defense too, now I'll never be able to believe their off-season hype again!

I keep checking the Minneapolis paper on Monday mornings expecting to read "Tice fired".

Six weeks and still nothing.

/I would have fired him three weeks ago
//He's still better than Dennis Green
///Is Bud Grant busy, or is it hunting season?

The Alouettes are winning it all this year.

Vikings suck.
It was a hard weekend for Minnesota sports.

Has there been a worse owner in the last 25 years of pro sports than Red McCombs? Dirty used car salesman. This is what happens when you try to run a massive enterprise on a miniscule budget. See you in Hell, Red.

Although Tice hasn't been fired there was action taken
/Stewie Griffin is no longer the player's liason in charge of bye week entertainment.

I really do think the Bears will win the Super Bowl this year.

When he's fired, will he be given a Viking funeral ?

I think the actual NHL Norris (i.e. Central) Division teams could beat the NFC Norris Division teams in football right now.

2005-10-17 01:39:06 PM
At least the Vikes have put themselves in good position to get Reggie Bush.
Does anyone think USC would trade Leinart for Culpepper? I didn't think so.

Yes, Norm Green.

Also it wasn't a washout in MN this weekend. Wild beat Anaheim 4-0. seconf SO of the season.

Hope to god the Vikings go away and Twins stay. Fark the Timberwolves by the way.

For a quick cure to a losing streak, Gentleman, I give you the Minnesota Vikings.

It's a shame Wilf spent that much money on this shiatty team.

I'd rather they fire him at the end of the year and then spend a good amount of time hiring a good coach, not just someone who happened to be available.

Two things:
1) having a new coach couldn't be any worse than the situation now.
2) Tice was "someone how happened to be available" in the first place. He was the friggin TE coach for crying out loud.

2005-10-17 01:45:16 PM
They're still better than the Texans

MadWeasel: It's a shame Wilf spent that much money on this shiatty team.

I thought everyone spent the same amount of money, due to the salary cap?

Welcome to the age of mediocre football. Sure, we'll get occiasional flashes of brilliance like the Patriots of recent years, but for the most part, we'll be treated to .500 teams handicapped by the cap.

And some would do the same to baseball.

Say what you want about Red, he got out at the right time. This team could take years to rebuild.

I am jumping on the Bengal's bandwagon.

Point of order, Bears are actually doing well so far, despite having no QB.
And Detroit has no O-line which makes it difficult for a QB to do his job. Ask David Carr.

Lose to the Bears? I hope that there is a short sword in Tice's luggage to be used for seppuku.

I've been a Viking fan for almost as long as I can remember. I always put it off to a birth defect my father passed on, but I always loved my team.

There have been some lean years. There have been some good years. There has been only one amazing year (and even that was ruined by ineffectual post season Dennis Green coaching).

I've seen a great coach - Bud Grant,
I've seen an acceptable coach that never made good on the promise of a Championship - Dennis Green.
There was a strange coach that was just - uhm - strange - Jerry Burns.
Then the fans get saddled with an offensive line coach so Red doesn't have to do much work before selling the team - Mike Tice

This band of individuals, I'm loathe to use the word "team", has made it very easy for me not to care. I am boxing up my Viking sweatshirts, tee shirts, hats, and other assorted memorabilia this weekend, and plan to send them to the team at their Eden Prairie address...with this note:

"Every year I get pumped up for the return
of my favorite team. Through the course of
the season I root and cheer until the
inevitable let down comes either by way
of playoff loss or loss of playoffs.

I Thank you, "gentlemen", for getting it
out of the way quickly this year so I might
concentrate on something more worthwhile.

Maybe you can find some homeless folks
that can use this stuff. They can't be picky
so you'll get some free advertising.

Sincerely,

An Ex 35 year Viking Fan"

Sure, we'll get occiasional flashes of brilliance like the Patriots of recent years, but for the most part, we'll be treated to .500 teams handicapped by the cap.

Aww come on. You tellin' me the cap, which doles out an average of 1.6 million per person to the teammembers who are restricted by it, would stop you from playing?

It'd take more than 1.6 million dollars per year to get you to PLAY A GAME?

I actually work for a living and I don't make anywhere near that. Seems to me if someone's really talented at the game and loves to play the game, it won't matter if they're getting 1 million or 10 million - they're still gonna play. If they require more than one and a half million dollars (more than 43 times what the average American makes) in order to play a game, then perhaps we don't need them, and they can go try making more than 1.6 million dollars somewhere else.

Might want to start checking your facts.

The packers defense is ranked 11th going into week 7 and 5th in the NFC.

They actually have a decent defense this year.

I have been a vikings fan for my whole life... I'm only 23 so I didn't have to suffer watching the Stupor Bowl losses. When they traded Moss, I was so farking mad, but the media, I admit, had me beleiving that the vikes would be good. MANY of them had the Vikes going to or winning the Stupor Bowl. Now, I should have trusted my instinct... as much as Moss was an idiot, he is still the greatest receiver to play the game, statistically speaking. I miss the Freak... I miss the days when you could plug in any QB(B Johnson, Cunningham, J George, G Frerotte) and just watch them bomb it to Moss... Keep it real, straight CASH homey!

/went to UWmadison
//gophers suck my ballsac
///at least the vikes never had a chance to win

He's also injured already. Perhaps Jerry Rice would've been a more convincing argument. He holds records. And stuff.
