Well, yes it should be obvious. They've never been allowed to drive before, so clearly, like any beginner, they won't be very good at it. And a huge influx of people beginners should scare anyone.

Well, since women there have not been allowed to drive they have little, if any experience. The amount of inexperienced drivers increases so does the likelyhood you'll get hit by one. My insu costs went thru the roof when I moved to Phoenix for similar reasons. (Replace women w/ blue hairs, immigrants, redlight runners, & uninsured motorists)

Well there's gonna be chaos for a bit in Saudi Arabia simply because they're allowing a surge of new drivers on the road. The gender of those drivers is irrelevant. New drivers are notoriously bad. Nobody can tell me that they weren't pretty bad the first year after they got their licence.

Plus I doubt it will be as bad as all that since I doubt most women will be allowed to drive simply because fathers and husbands will forbid it. Despite denials, the women in Saudi Arabia are essentially property. If your husband says you can't drive, there's no getting around it. The state will no longer forbid it, but I bet that most of the patriarchy in that nation will still forbid it.

Yep. I remember that news article because of the immense stupidity of allowing people to burn because of improper dress. The worst way to die is to burn to death. Horribly painful and slow. The only thing that brings me some comfort, is that a society that backward and corrupt will inevitably implode and destroy itself.

Yes, they do. Ability or inability to drive has nothing to do with statistics; just the number of times a young person wraps their car around a tree or bangs into another motorist. In that category, men are far better at wrecking vehicles than women.

while I agree that SA is a pretty repressive country. What you're saying doesn't make sense: Nowadays, men have to hire drivers to drive their women around town (yeah, surprise, that's allowed for some reason). Not having to pay for Choffeurs is a great economic incentive, IMO.

Why men's auto rates are higher than womens:

In short, Women get into more accidents than men, men cause more damage in the accidents they have. Women are more likely to have accidents nearer to the side of "fender benders" and "paint scrapes." Men are more likely to wrap the car around a tree and much more likely to cause serious injury/death (mucho $$$).

So, even though women have significantly more accidents than men, they cost the insurance company less, which is all they care about.
