Duke football may suck, but Duke basketball owns you.

too bad Duke has a legit shot at running the table this year...how about an all Duke team for Coach K.
pg: Duhon, JayWil
sg: Corey Magette, JJ
sf: Battier, Grant Hill, Luol Deng
pf: Brand, Boozer, Shelden
c: ok the nba will have to donate a big man or two

Well, if the NBA marketing committee keeps nominating the players, then it's a sure bet that Team USA will keep losing.

Come on...no 3-point shooters? They just expect that Team USA will show up, and everyone else will run away scared, instead of putting on their best game.

After the performance of our NBA players in the last olympics, i quit watching/following Pro basketball. It was more than obvious that the players were not trying their hardest and at most, didn't care if they won or lost.

Good luck to K.

Koach Komercial sucks, Duke sucks, Christian Laettner sucks, Grant Hill sucks, Shane Battier sucks, WoJo sucks, and, as a caveat, basketball in the entire state of North Carolina sucks - it is a state devoid of NCAA basketball pride and tradition, and why any recruit would want to play within that state is beyond me.

Kentucky basketball, on the other hand, rules.

2005-10-12 03:44:15 PM
If he's coaching, I'll be rooting for Ecuador or Pygmy hoopsters of Botswana to eliminate the US in the most humiliating fashion possible.

NFL ASSISTANT: First NFL job was as a Giants assistant in 1979, though he quit a month after taking the job. Went to the Patriots as an assistant in 1980, then was the Giants defensive coordinator 1981-82.

Coach Parcells: Played linebacker at Wichita State 1961-63. Served as college coach at: Hastings (Neb.) 1964, Wichita State 1965, Army 1966-69, Florida State 1970-72, Vanderbilt 1973-74, Texas Tech 1975-77, and was head coach at Air Force in 1978.

Had NFL time as assistant and coordinator before taking over as Head Coach

When the US Olympic team sends over the NBA Championship team from the most recent year, instead of a team mixed of all-stars and 6th men from various teams who have never played with eachother, USA will be "back".

The world has considerably "caught up"... with better players and teams that have played with eachother for years.

Until then, really doesn't matter who coaches.

Brand, Boozer, and shelden can all play the 4 or the 5 fairly effectively. Plus, by that time the Duke "NBA Family" will probably also include big men Josh McRoberts and Eric Boateng, plus PG Greg Paulus. And they could bring in Grant Hill for leadership purposes.

Having a college coach for the Olympic team is a great idea, since the college season ends three months before the pros.

/go to hell, Carolina

2005-10-12 03:55:21 PM
Mitch you nailed it dead on.
Paulus is the man no question.
McRoberts could get by at 4 against the equally raw Euro talents.
Boateng isn't ready...but the time it is a flyin.

Just saying that time at the pro level, assistant or coordinator, helps get ready to deal with players at that level. To go from players that are hungry for the game, rather that wondering "is this going to help my shoe deal?" Pros playing in the Games still a question to be answered, Basketball at the last games(nobody cared) and the Hockey team trashing the Olympic Village

lexslamman, I forgot who won the title this year. Remind me, please.

Because all North Carolina players suck, I mean that guy Michael Jordan was never worth a crap. Worst. Player. Ever.

I seem to remember a North Carolina beat down on Kentucky in the most recent meeting.

I don't like obsure analogies, but Nottingham Forest used to be good at what they did too.

2005-10-12 04:38:12 PM
The whole "Duke sucks" thing was never funny. And I'm not even a Duke fan. I mean, they do suck since it's football season, but still. It's gotten REALLY old.

YogaInferno

I forgot whose entire team entered the NBA this year. Remind me please.

Michael Jordan was not recruited by Roy Williams, and didn't need Dean Smith to turn him into the greatest basketball star (and advertisement) of all time.

I seem to remember that Kentucky still has the most basketball wins of any school in the country.

I don't like obscure analogies, but the French have won a war or two.

I love the program, and I really like Tom Izzo as a coach, but there is no way that MSU is a top 10 team this season. I don't care how good Paul Davis supposedly is.

I vehemently hate MSU and Paul Davis, but when it's said and done they're always there. Oh and Shannon Brown is the biggest freak of nature in the country...saw him outperform Lebron at the Cap Classic a few years back, he's legit.
