"Chocolate smears everything a driver touches. The instinctive reaction is to clean it off immediately, stealing attention from the road. Then -- bang -- a food-related wreck."

speaking of which, the driver must be a retard, sheesh, break a piece of the chocolate bar, then munch, if the bar is melted, save it for the freezer.

OoooOOOoooh! There oughta be a law! There oughta be a law!

Please take away all my personal responsibilities and freedoms. I haven't a CLUE what to do with them all...

as long as they don't ban getting a hummer while driving, I am alright.

I can't believe people study this crap. Changing the radio while driving is dangerous. Judging on how many people drive, driving an SUV is one of the most dangerous things you can do. Thing is nobody cares.

REPOST

That being said, maybe we should ban idiots from cars.

Wait a minute, that would put an entire industry of shyster civil lawyers out of business. God forbid that should happen.

Our local news station said that chili and soup also were big causes in auto accidents.

"Dammit Gladys, put down the soup and answer the phone already. Wait!!! Turn right at the light!!!"

This is nice. It'll complement the fat tax/suage well. This is *much* more important to abolish than cell phones as far as car wrecks are concerned.

2002-04-30 11:24:26 PM
I really don't get why people can't wait until they get home or where ever they may be going, to eat. But this is coming from someone who thinks it's crazy to NEED to eat popcorn and other crap during a movie. It's two hours, I think I can survive.

I heard they're going to pass a law against being oriental while driving. I'm all for it!

Whenever I see something about dangerous activities during driving, I'm always reminded of that scene in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles when John Candy manages to get both of his arms tied to his car seat with his jacket.

Then Steve Martin wakes up and he sees John Candy as the Devil. I remember laughing for ten minutes when I first saw that.

R.I.P. John Candy. He's been gone for over 8 years and I still miss him.

I wish there was an invention where if some asshole driving in front of you is lagging because of using the phone, then you could emit a signal from this invention pointed in their direction. The signal would make their cell phone explode in their hand.
That might wake them up...

Sure. Stupid people come to mind. Especially stupid people on cell phones while operating heavy machinery.

Unfortunately, the government likes to keep them around for tax purposes.

Ban people from bringing up articles that have already been submitted. Then we'll talk.

Prufrock2: One of my favorite comedies. You made me laugh just remembering that scene.

You can do stuff while you're driving as long as you keep the driving the priority. It's like that commercial where the woman sees in the rearview where her kid has ice cream on his face, and she just starts fishing around under the seats for a kleenex while the car goes off-road.

2002-04-30 11:38:12 PM
Ban soccer moms and we'll sit down and talk.

I heard on the radio this morning that one man has had so many food related accidents that he has a "no eating" restriction on his license!

2002-04-30 11:42:34 PM
Careful man, there's a beverage here.

2002-04-30 11:44:14 PM

People driving should be strapped to the seat so they cannot move forward, should not be allowed to converse, eat, drink, listen to conversations or music, and above all, should not be [ethnic and sexist inferences removed]. Hell, driving is just dangerous, let's ban driving all together. While we are at it, let's ban having children -- it just leads to more death!

Wanna biatch about life?

2002-04-30 11:56:31 PM
What are we complaining about when we allow women to drive. If women didn't drive then the roads would be safe. That's your problem right there.

2002-04-30 11:56:39 PM
Remember:

'Orgasms and driving don't mix'

So, come before you go.

nice try Blackinton
ohhh, you're from Michigan.

I'm sorry.

Prufrock- Actually, the "Devil" sequence is when Candy heads the wrong way down the interstate & squeezes the car in between two semis...just before the airborne steamer trunk bit...after which the car catches on fire...

A wonderful movie...shame they had to destroy that car (1986 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country...the last year for the "woodie" option and quite rare)

Also dug the Silicon Teens version of "Red River Rock" in the soundtrack.

Listening to the radio while driving is also distracting. I guess we better ban that so we have full concentration on driving. Only problem is that on those long treks into the city, the radio is what helps -- * zzzzzz zzzzzz

2002-05-01 12:06:14 AM
why must we always ban what we can't understand>>>

2002-05-01 12:07:51 AM
What we need is a ban that is strong enough for a man but made for a woman.

2002-05-01 12:09:35 AM
Did anyone even read the article?

I just want to rant about the law in New York that bans non-handsfree cellphones. Well, like most people, i have a regular cellphone, not a car based one. so when the phone rings, if the headset is not connected to it, i have to go search for the headset. It is often tangled up in something, so i try to gather the cord and attach it to the phone. I have problems even when the headset is connected to the phone. For some reason it likes to tangle in anything. So, i am trying to get this thing setup while i am driving on the highway.
Now compare that to, i hear my phone ring, i pick it up and bring it to my ear.
what sounds 'safer' to you. also my cellphone is always in a holder on the dash, so i can grab it easilly.
sorry, i had to rant.

On on unrelated note, did you know that eating while driving is dangerous?

Also, eating while driving is dangerous.

2002-05-01 12:27:36 AM
Ban radios, cd players, heater controls, power seat controls, vanity mirrors, manual transmissions, cell phones, eating, putting on make up, roadside billboards and bumper stickers because they all distract the driver.

2002-05-01 12:31:33 AM
DeadGirl: Or you could just stop using the phone while driving.

As a matter of principle, unless I'm lost and looking for the right route I avoid talking on cell-phones in the car , others should too.

What is wrong with the queue today? It keeps regurgitating the same stories over and over.

I posted this yesterday when the queue let it through for the second time in a day...now we are three in two days. Sheesh, what's next, another article about overclocking and a space/time continuum rift?
