Third year in a row? Whose presidency does that coincide with? Gee, I wonder.

Also known as, "Haha we have more money than you! Look what you can't have!"

Why on earth do you need that much space unless you have your whole family (including 6th cousins) living with you.

Boggles the mind.

2005-10-08 09:09:54 AM
Oh yes...

The acreage is a little small but it makes up for it in location...

2005-10-08 10:41:59 AM
I can't imagine feeling at home in one of those houses.

From #10: "the master suite has his-and-her living rooms"

Wtf for?

#6 is pretty sweet.

Do you have a pool?

We have a pond. A pool and a pond. The pond would be good for you.

Yeah, but just think how long it takes him to cut his lawn.

It blows my mind that any place on Long Island is considered luxurious.

I live in the sticks. Pay 3k/year in taxes. Major highway that goes to casino.

No parks here.

Who the hell needs 13 bedrooms

Plebians... If you do not see a need, then you are not rich.

From #10: "the master suite has his-and-her living rooms"

How much you bet the "her" in the equation uses the man's living room (ManTown).

2005-10-08 12:35:49 PM
I wouldn't live in any of those dumps.

/got nothing

Why do the rich hate the working class so much.

Why don't they support tax increases to fund the War that keeps them free?

Why won't they offer a dime of federal support to help the needy?

When did America's super-rich become so callous and greedy?

2005-10-08 12:38:26 PM
Lame. Anyone want to help build a siege tower?

the place is amazing

I did a sound system in a $19 mil house once. That place was enourmous. I can't imagine what a $50 mil place is like.

No. 4 (tie)
Price: $60 million
Location: Incline Village, Nev.

A veritable playground on pricey Lake Tahoe, this 4.25-acre compound includes nearly 340 feet of shoreline. But water isn't Sierra Star's only amenity: If you add the 11,000-square-foot contemporary main house and the two guesthouses, you get a total of 18 bedrooms and 19 baths. The 16,000-square-foot carriage house has a 60-foot-long elevator that can accommodate large vehicles. The sod on the grounds has rubber matting beneath, so it doesn't get ruined by all-terrain vehicles. And the two piers have remote-controlled lifts for easy boat launching. Kent Symons at Coldwell Banker Incline Village Realty has the listing.

That actually sounds like a real bargain. If I presently had the money, it's what I would buy.

The link to the homes of the billionaires is pretty interesting. Some of those folks live pretty modestly, especially the waltons.

2005-10-08 12:48:40 PM
I suspect a lot of these places are just a means of tying up large amounts of capital in real estate.

2005-10-08 12:49:14 PM
Or, as I read it: "First targets to be up against the wall when the revolution comes."

Given that you can't become super rich without destroying a few lives in the process, I think they have earned themselves a derogatory epithet. I'm going to borrow from South Park: Richers.

Go sit in your ivory towers you stinkin' Richers!

/the "T" is for "Time to leave" cash chucker!

2005-10-08 12:49:54 PM
yeah it must be nice. still, what's our obsession with the rich? why does everyone seem to love them or hate them? why not just ignore them? we'll never be like that, but we don't need to feel bad about that either...

Oh, I liked this line from the Nevada listing: ". The sod on the grounds has rubber matting beneath, so it doesn't get ruined by all-terrain vehicles."

For a fleet of penis compensators!!!

No, no. You've got it all wrong. Democrats hate the poor and fellate the richers just as much as Republicans. The only difference is that Democrats try to act like they give a damn about us common folk whereas Republicans embrace their hatred of anyone not in the top 5%. I honestly don't know which is worse.

skylabdown: I feel the green glow of ENVY from some of my fellow farkers.

Strawman.

Anyway, it wouldn't bother the rest of us so much if the people who had the money for this sort of thing didn't take it (and a good chance, unwillingly) from US. And YOU, though you're too stupid to realize it.

It's interesting that most expensive private home in the country is the amount of money the federal government spends in 15 minutes.

(excluding religious basis, of course)
From my experience hardcore Democrats consist of:

1. The uber wealthy who had their success handed to them and feel guilty about it on some level (celebrities for instance)
2. The uber poor who want something for nothing
3. People who haven't become jaded enough to decide that they can't solve every problem by giving/telling people what to do

Republicans consist of:
1. The wealthy who don't want to give up what they have
2. The guy who makes 50k a year and is sick of hearing the democrats tell him how well off he is
3. People who are sick of trying to fix other peoples problems and just don't give a damn anymore.

The rich taking money from us? Where do you get that?

Without them paying my paycheck I would not have any money.

Because of their decisions, I am employed.

They provide goods/services. I am sorry that you do not find them valuable. Dell did not steal money from you, when you bought your computer. Your ISP is not stealing money from you for using the internet. Assuming you are not a total fark member, Drew is not stealing money from you.

The only think you are stealing is time. You are taking time away from things you could be doing.

If time is money then you could be earning money now. Maybe you are stealing from yourself!

The majority of republicans are middle class...look at the red states. Don't know about all that rich jazz stereotyping.

/Riddle THAT!

My place didnt make it again. How can a house with such amenities as three bars, two pizzerias, two Chinese restaurants and a convenience store on the same block miss out? I even have a live in caretaker\landlord with his own apartment. I guess the two churches on the corner and the drunken kids pissing in the driveway count against the location.

2005-10-08 01:11:42 PM
The typical man-boy farkers show their stuff again.

Lessee....anyone with anything better than you is stealing from the working class and cronies with george bush.

Anyone with less than you are lazy stupid farktards.

-Man-boy Farker lives in 2500 sq. ft. house, sees a mansion in the hamptons and says "Why does anybody need that much! They are greedy rich people!"

-Working class person in many eastern European nations live in 1000 sq. ft. house and point to man-boy farkers and say "Why does anybody need that much! They are greedy rich people!"

-Sudanese paerson lives in 125 sq. ft. thatched roof house and looks at eastern European house and says "Why does anybody need that much! They are greedy rich people!"

Please, get over yourselves and stop being overcome with hatered and bile for anyone who has been more successful than you. Be happy for those that do well, be compassionate for those who do worse, but, for the love of pete, stop biatching about EVERYTHING.

"The sod on the grounds has rubber matting beneath, so it doesn't get ruined by all-terrain vehicles."

I have no idea what that means. They placed a giant rubber mat on the ground and grew grass on it? How does that work? I don't get it.

I hear you. When I see the uber house it's like motivation to me. "Ew get goin girl, get that book written, finish the next degree get out there and take advantage of Capitalism."
Don't think every wealthy person deserves to be tagged as a greedy A-hole. It's not fair and we can't be everyone's concience,,, just our own.

2005-10-08 01:22:27 PM
I actually drive by both of those houses in the Hamptons (#1 and #7). The #1 house is impressive, and I know people have been on the grounds (although it's obviously a "bit much". The "White House" described on #7 is totally for its location - it's not a bad house, but not nearly worth the amount that they want for it, even considering the Hamptons home market.

It all used to be farmland.

/12th generation Hamptonite
//can't afford to ever buy a house there

2005-10-08 01:23:01 PM
I guess if we'd spend less time posting on Fark and more time earning money, we could have homes like these...but who needs homes like these anyways.
