Delay says these are the most "baseless charges in American History".

well, at least he's keeping everything in perspective.

That is all you've got? This thread is weak without all the TF'ing right-wingers blabbing about their self-righteous superiority (not just aimed at you, DIA - no need to comment about how you have never thumped your chest in a show of arrogant self-righteousness).

redneckbastard - "Delay has been *indicted* for criminal conspiracy, but he isnt being charged with a crime."

UncleBuck4U - "Are you for real?
Do you even know what a grand jury indictment is?
Law. A written statement charging a party with the commission of a crime or other offense, drawn up by a prosecuting attorney and found and presented by a grand jury.
Charging a party with the commission of a crime!"

Are you infarkingsane?

Conspiracy is not 'conspiracy' unless something illicit or criminal is being done to make it a conspiracy. That is the difference between soliciting funds for elections and conspiring to violate state laws regarding elections, because somewhere there is an actual crime that is independent of any other act or law, but a straight forward hard-ass crime OTHER THAN the acusation or indictment of the conspiracy itself.

So, like I said, criminal conspiracy doesnt really make a whole lot of sense, you inbred shiat-eating baboon, unless there is another actual crime other than the conspiracy that justifies refering to the whole thing as conspiracy.

UncleBuck4U - "You are one dumbass redneck motherfarker!

Yeah, well at least I know what a conspiracy is, farktard.

I would think that with your employer under indictment and having stepped down from his leadership role that you would be pretty busy yourself today.

Kerry would have been a disaster as a President, saddled with a Republican Congress that would have bitterly opposed anything resembling an agenda he tried to implement.

EmrysX - Wow you don't get it do you?

Do you watch CNN?

If you watch CNN you will know, I don't have time to dig up everything to show you, just like you can't dig up anything against it.

here:"On Saturday, CNN put out an article about the companies involved in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort are friends of Bush. I bet the author had a huge grin on his face when he wrote the last section of this piece entitled Cheneys relationship with Halliburton. I think everyone and their dog knows Cheney has ties with Halliburton.

In the following excerpt, the writer does a fantastic job making everyone look like a Bush cronie ..

Companies with ties to the Bush White House and the former head of FEMA are clinching some of the administrations first disaster relief and reconstruction contracts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

At least two major corporate clients of lobbyist Joe Allbaugh, President Bushs former campaign manager and a former head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, have already been tapped to start recovery work along the battered Gulf Coast.

One is Shaw Group Inc. and the other is Halliburton Co. subsidiary Kellogg Brown and Root. Vice President Dick Cheney is a former head of Halliburton.

.. however, Michelle Malkin does a better job pointing out the bias. The article fails to point out the following

The Shaw Group, a multi-billion-dollar conglomerate, is headed by Jim Bernhard, the current chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party. Bernhard worked tirelessly for Democrat Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blancos runoff campaign and served as co-chair of her transition team. Another Shaw executive was Blancos campaign manager. Bernhard is back-scratching chums with Blanco, whom he has lent/offered the Shaw Groups corporate jets to on numerous occasions.

Liberal bias? No

As if Democrats asking for donations to the DNC on a Katrina relief webpage wasnt enough

redneckbastard: Conspiracy is not 'conspiracy' unless something illicit or criminal is being done to make it a conspiracy.

You are wrong!

To plan or participate in the planning of a crime is conspiracy. The conspiracy itself constitutes a criminal act. No further criminal act is required to have been committed in order for a criminal conspiracy to have taken place, period.

This is the law, go look it up you misinformed moran.

I would support some women as president but Hillary would NEVER make that list. Sadly there seems to me a quasi-covert attempt at manipulating our culture toward embracing the idea of a woman president, which would not upset me in the slightest were the Hillstress not first in line. Well I suppose it would upset me that a gigantic chunk of my fellow slack-jawed mouth breathing citizenry would vote for ANY woman based solely on differing from her opponent's gender, in the same way similar retarded bias pisses me off (race, sexual preference) all over town every day but that's not the point. Commander in Chief? I'd sure as hell support Geena Davis over Hillary any day for pres

UncleBuck4U: Really? An unqualified chrony eh?

What the fark is your qualification of chrony then? Give me a break. There are numerous examples of people in the Clinton Administration doing the same exact sort of things that happen in the Bush administration.

BUT, BUT, BUT it's okay becasue they weren't his CHRONYS!!

Bullshiat. It's crap when it happen by the republicans, it's crap when it happens by the democrats. Both parties have people in them who do horrible things and get people hurt. You may not like the policies of one and like the policies of another, but they're all scumbags.

The sad fact of life is that only these kind of scumbags have the political connections to get elected in this country. Stop thinking that one is more ethical or better than another. It's just not true.

Their policies may be better or worse and that's why you like them better, but they are all still political muppets singing the same tune and doing whatever they think they can get by with.

The GOP has two exceptional Maine senators who'd do nicely, but, because they are moderates in the face of extremist leadership, they are persona-non-grata within their own party.

Immaculate_Misconception - "You're talking out of your ass and your stupid is showing, Delay's been charged with criminal conspiracy in a campaign fund-raising scheme. The conspiracy, in and of itself is a felony crime in the state of Texas."

No duh, dipshiat, but the normal process, if the prosecutor did not prevent the alleged criminal act from taking place, like your murder-for-hire scenario, then it is normal to also include another indictment for a crime that does not depend on proving any other crime.

In other words, scrotumbreath, WHY ISNT DELAY BEING CHARGED WITH VIOLATING THE SPECIFIC LAW IN QUESTION INSTEAD OF MERELY CONSPIRING TO DO SO? WHERE IS THE INDICTMENT FOR DONATING CORPORATE FUNDS TO TEXAS STATE ELECTIONS? HMMMM?

Immaculate_Misconception - "When an individual is conspiring to commit a crime, they are committing a criminal offense. bla, blahblah I cant stop thinking about dick long enough to actuall think, blah, blah, blah."

fark off, biatch.

Immaculate_Misconception - "All of your other assertions are just as ignorant as the ones I've addressed above. Let me help you out, pick up a fcuking book and stop practicing armchair law based upon what you've picked up on TV. One of us is a practicing criminal defense attorney who's career began in Texas, and it obviously isn't you."

It should be apparent to any with half a brain or more what I am refering to.

Why do dumbass Democrats like you pretend that your thick-headedness will mean anything come election time? All your bullshiat posturing will simply melt away as the public actually stops and takes time to sort through all your bullshiat and then, guess what? YOU LOSE THE ELECTIONS AGAIN, LOL!

ESADIAF, you deaf-dumb-blind-cock-sucker.

Clinton didn't send troops to Somalia. Someone else did.

1992 Aug 14, Pres. Bush ordered the Pentagon to begin emergency airlifts of food to Somalia which was suffering from severe famine and factional warfare.
(AP, 8/14/97)(HNQ, 1/1/00)

1992 Aug 28, The U.S. government mounted two huge relief operations, rushing food and drinking water to hurricane-ravaged Florida while U.S. cargo planes landed in Somalia with tons of food for African famine victims.
(AP, 8/28/97)

1992 Oct 9, To protect the US food airlift, the first American forces arrived.
(HNQ, 1/1/00)

Clinton became president in January of 1993. Bush Sr. sent them in unprepared and under armed. That set Clinton up for a fall. You could argue that Clinton didn't do a good enough job cleaning up Bush Sr.'s mess but I don't think you will.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this just may be politically motivated.

Based on what, exactly? The indictment is for conspiracy to violate campaign finance laws, not for being Republican. If he isn't guilty then he has nothing to worry about, right?

/he seems kinda worried to me

2005-09-28 03:06:08 PM
Only reason the Republicans control Congress is because DeLay broke the law. When he's convicted can we finally overturn their "mandate"?

2005-09-28 03:06:13 PM
how long will it take you DeLay defenders to realize a farking Grand Jury indicted him! jesus Christ, the prosecutor didn't just arbitrarily wite up charges against him. They put it before a panel of his peers. Duh!!!
Conspiracy charges not criminal? It is a criminal offense in Texas to conspire to affect the outcome of an election. That is a farking criminal charge idiot. Just the same as Conspiracy to commit murder, or conspiracy to launder money, or conspiracy to traffic drugs. No you didn't do it yourself, but you directed others to do it for you. Same farking thing.

2005-09-28 03:06:29 PM
rbuzby: Ok so why was he reprimanded 3 times by the Ethics Committee?

Because the Republican leadership shut the committee down. Otherwise he would have been reprimanded 5 times. At least.

FOX is now talking about Bush saying we are "winning the war on terror".

Of course last year in a moment of rare honesty, he admitted it cant be won.

I guess those Republicans dressed up as giant flip flops will be following him around now.
