It's lame-o-rific comments like that which prove how downhill Family Guy has gone since it came back on TV. I mean, Southpark had Paris Hilton shove a pineapple up her whoo-hahh and had the kids learn how to give an abortion to help defeat the anti-christ. THAT'S Emmy-award winning comedy.

2005-09-24 08:59:52 PM
So enemy number one is number two?

2005-09-24 09:04:00 PM
Well South Park gets away with a bit more because they're cable and not subject to the FCC. If you're talking about quality, yes, South Park is smarter than Family Guy but they're two different kinds of shows.

Have you ever noticed that, when you poop in a lake, the doody follows you for a little while.

I'm just saying.

Family Ties movie?!? Must have blocked that made-for-TV classic out of my memory.

2005-09-24 10:15:22 PM
that's because it is lonely and wants to go back home

2005-09-24 10:15:44 PM
I have to say, poop jokes are a lot less funny than sex and violence.

2005-09-24 10:18:20 PM
Sticking a pineapple up a hoo-hah is smart comedy?

2005-09-24 10:18:35 PM
Family Guy sucks. McFarlane has never been that funny, but at least at the beginning of the show he tried to have some comedic variety. Now it's the same tired jokes over and over. Does he even write for the show any more? I could have sworn I didn't see his name anywhere in the credits (except for voice talent, of course) for the (aweful) Family Guy movie.

Fact:
All terrorists poop.
And when they wipe, they use their bare hands and have to face Mecca with their brown eye.

Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffinthe Untold Story ($30)

$30 for a 1 1/2 hour long movie on DVD? And this, Farkers, is why I won't be buying it this week.

I downloaded it months ago, and special features don't warrant $30 to me.

Can anybody tell me if Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law is on DVD other than the 1st season? I must see more .... MOREEE!

Seth McFarlane on the Family Ties TV movie: "It could have been James Bond instead of the Seavers."

Uh, wasn't Family Ties the Keatons?

/I have no HTML ability.

Yay, doody!!

Dark Bastion: Now it's the same tired jokes over and over.

I agree, and that's why I'm not too excited about the new season.

I also get annoyed when they drag out the joke for a minute. It's not funny after the first five seconds.

2005-09-24 10:24:30 PM
i shiat on your poop jokes

2005-09-24 10:25:06 PM
$30 is a little steep. I heard it was just 3 episodes that they made a little racier for the dvd.

It is still cool to like it, it's just that some people are on the rag.

/southpark is better though

I can't believe that in a world of mind numbingly retarded reality shows and President Bush that anyone would have an unkind word to say about a comedy show, especially Family Guy. Comics have recycled jokes since the second guy said 'knock knock'. At least the majority of it is still fresher than any of the rest of the demon-ladden donkey excriment that flows out of the TV. Anyone who says it sucks should prove how funny they are, or more likely, aren't.

They say Stewie has a Brit-accent?

I thought it was more of a mad-genius accent..

2005-09-24 10:30:34 PM
I remember the "Family Ties" movie.

I think the microfilm was hidden in a hairbrush.

It was incredibly bad.

Is there a big temptation to get into political humor?

We try to stay away from it.

Wasn't that the purpose for creating American Dad?

2005-09-24 10:32:42 PM
More of a Rex-Harrison-in-My-Fair-Lady British accent.

Peter: I'll handle it, Lois. I read a book about this sort of thing once.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't nothing?
Peter: Oh yeah.

Laugh louder than I should everytime I hear that.

It's lame-o-rific comments like that which prove how downhill Family Guy has gone...

I think it's more of a comment about how uneven the FCC is, which South Park has less to worry about. I enjoy both shows.

Thread over.

There's always a few laughs to be found in Family Guy, but I always feel a little ashamed afterwards.

American Dad seems okay, there was that one episode where Roger leaves a ... how you say ... golden turd - did they ever go back to that plot?

Oh, come on. The 5 minutes of fighting the coupon chicken was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Second only to Peter hurting himself in the Wonka episode an "oww-ing" on the ground for 2 minutes.

Though I will admit, some American Dad has been better than the new Family Guy...

It seems like Seth is just more interested in making American Dad than rehasing FG. It looks like there's more creativity and effort put into it.

I liked Family Guy when it was underground.

/everything sucks when it becomes popular
//blah blah blah
///tired.

I've seen the Family Guy movie, it's basically three episodes strung together. They're good, but I think they'll be on tv later. Save your money unless you're a huge fan. I have higher expectations for the simpsons movie.

2005-09-24 10:56:42 PM
for the people saying "$30 bucks is to steep" notice this is manufacture suggested retail price not a single store will sell it near that price. All dvd's are suggested 25-30 bucks for a 1 dvd. Best buy will surly have it for 15 bucks the first week and 20 bucks until it hits the bargin bin. So don't cry you wont be paying 30 bucks unless you go to some crappy place like fye or something.

2005-09-24 11:02:37 PM
I've only seen Family Guy a few times, so who cares what I think? But I don't like poop jokes, they've ruined a few movies for me. Most notably the Austin Powers movie--I forget which one, the one with the big fat guy in it.

Not that it was that good anyway, but the endless turd jokes weren't funny at all.

2005-09-24 11:04:50 PM
I was so excited when they brought FG back from the dead. I still watch every Sunday just in case something funny will happen (like the A-ha episode) but am more disappointed anymore than not. It feels like instead of going for the funny they go for blatant shock value.

Best line in American Dad this season was
Dad- You don't know what it's like being ridden for three hours.
Haley- Oh really?

Meh, Family Guy and Southpark suck.

Honestly, you could browse Fark for one day, pick up some of the funny things people say, and create something much better.

Just my $.02

veruca: blatant shock value

That's what South park has been doing for years. I like the new Family Guy it is more edgy and up front. I guess they realize that since they have the fans and Fox brought them back they can push the evelope a little bit. The king of shock value for cartoons is South Park hands down though. South Park is a great show, funny and nasty jokes along with a hidden messege.

2005-09-24 11:10:02 PM
Enemy Combatant: That's what South park has been doing for years.

But that's what I expect from South Park - it's been like that since the beginning. SP wasn't sold as something initially and then turned into something almost completely different which is what I feel happened to FG.

2005-09-24 11:15:20 PM
I remember when Family Guy first came out. I thought it was farking brilliant, and i tried to convince everyone to watch it. Most people i knew said it sucked or wasnt funny... 3 years later its off the air and ALL of the people that said it sucked are watching it. And now im not funny quoting family guy because everyone knows where i got the jokes from. DAMN YOU, MAINSTREAM TELEVISION!

2005-09-24 11:16:20 PM
Fox clearly brought back the wrong animated comedy.

So, what's stopping you? If it's that easy and all, why haven't you?

I'm not saying it's that easy to make an animated TV Show and whatnot, I'm just saying that Family Guy and South Park suck.

And that there is much more intelligent humor on Fark.
