Cue that cow from the movie Twister...

2005-09-23 12:28:06 PM
Yeah, I herd this too. They better mooooove those cows out of the way or some farmers are gonna have a beef with the tenderizing Rita delivers, unless it just grazes them. Steaks in cattle futures are sure to drop in the coming days.

2005-09-23 12:28:20 PM
'nother cow!

I for one am happy about the higher price of beef. Perhaps this will finally force everyone to consider alternate food sources. Thus allowing to reduce our dependence on foreign food sources. Wait what are we....

Be clear, my dear
As the storm draws near

Will get blown the hell outta here

"That's big cattle country there," Agriculture Department meteorologist Brad Rippey said Thursday."

In big cattle country,
Cows fly over you,
When Rita blows by the country-side!

Personally I think the the government is swinging the pendulum a little too extreme on the whole Rita thing.

Being that I live within smelling distance of Hereford, I'm not too concerned about not being able to get a steak when I want it, but the more serious concern here is the economic damage this is going to do.

No, the U.S. is not going to have an immediate famine. We have too much farmland for that to happen.

The U.S. exports a metric shiatload of food, including cows and other livestock. If and when our export herds die out, it's going to hurt business, make beef harder to get and therefore more expensive, and generally decrease the quality of beef available to Americans.

Hope everyone likes eating weiners.

I think that all the phenomena we have seen lately, particularly with the hurricanes, can be attributed to one thing: His Holy Noodliness needs more meatballs to provide to converts, hence he is calling the cows "home" for the betterment of everyone in line at noodley gates.

I have to presume that our lord does not like Cajun food very much.

Oh yeah, this one small corner of Texas sure is going to put the entire beef industry in chaos. Because God knows there aren't any other places in this country raising beef cattle.

Yeah, Henny "Texas" Penny, I don't think the sky is gonna fall without you guys...

If it does kill all the cattle in the path you could have quite the post hurricane bbq! Screw FEMA fire up the grill.
Texas does not produce all the beef in the US, the upper midwest, central plains and western states like CO, WY, MT produce quite a bit.

As a surfer, I use cows to tell whether the wind is blowing onshore or off. Since cows face thier backsides into the wind, a quick look that the pasture will tell me if it's be offshore or blown out....

=)
