Got a couch and floor available in Dallas vicinity. Email info in profile. One catch, you have to go drinking with me Friday nite (already have plans y'know).
2005-09-22 10:53:55 AM
Detroit here. Room for one on the couch, I guess. Lots of cats. E-mail if you want to come someplace equally as dangerous, without the water.

email in profile.

Those of you not making an evac, be careful.
2005-09-22 10:54:02 AM

I have plenty of amenities, too. 50" HDTV, wireless high-speed internet...I even have a guest bong. And I washed all the sheets in my house last night.

I'm there!
2005-09-22 10:54:58 AM
I have a few (3) spare bedrooms in Raleigh, NC. Pets welcome. Fenced yard. Smokers tolerated if you do it outside.

In an emergency, more couch space can be found, but it might not be the most comfortable for a long haul.

Email in profile.

As much as i would like to ffer it, I am in Canada and i doubt many will head this way. But if they do, Im in the central part of the country..

Oh ya, and leave your bad storm bad luck behind as well! I know you caught if from the people in New Orleans, but please bet a shot before you pass it on to someone else ;)

Plenty of room for a farker or SbS gal (Denise?) in Traverse City, MI for a week or two.

Spare room in Gainesville, FL. Must like beer. See profile for email.

Where did you hear that?
I hope it drops to a cat 1.
Please please leave, if not then please please don't do anything crazy for the sake of a picture.

Just looking at the tracking models. They always lose a lot of strength once they hit ground. I certainly wouldn't be in Galveston right now and I wouldn't be staying in Houston if I was in a ground floor apartment. Besides stuff breaking the windows here, I feel pretty much safe. I've stocked up on alcohol and pr0n already so I'm set for the weekend.
2005-09-22 10:58:24 AM
I would love to offer a room, but my husband says we can't afford more people at our house (cent. IL). He has his own business repairing vintage/antique clocks. Bottom has dropped out with iffy harvests, hurricane donations, and now donations for Rita may put us under. He's looking for a part time job. Hard to see him so down, he loves it so much, but we're dry and not dead.

If any farkers have damaged clocks, please send them our way. Insurance work is good. Just put email on profile. Please identify yourself in subject line as a farker.

Good luck Texans! I have an Aunt and Uncle in Brownsville. I hope they'll miss most of it.

//Love you all and be safe.

Already posted - just thought i would throw this in - any mountain bikers or cyclists -

Got a twelve hour race in Kansas City this Saturday - its really a big party - we got a couple of kegs and a smoker - so if you make it up this way and want to stay - at least you would have something fun to do this weekend.

I've got a place outside Atlanta- just moved in and am a little disorganized, but I can hold a one or two people. I do smoke cigarettes and have a cat, but if you have other animals you could bring them. See login for email.
2005-09-22 11:04:57 AM
Well you didn't say you had booze and boobies on hand.
I know when we had the hurricanes here in Florida
last year booze was very popular.

They do lose strength when they hit land, but this storm is a whole different animal then what we had last year.
So just be please be careful.

2 rooms + couches available in Columbus, Ohio. Email in profile. Guns welcome. No gun? You can have mine when you return to your home :)

Seriously, stay safe out there. We (Columbus) took in a few families from Katrina, and they all got free (for a year) apartments as well as our company donated a shiatload of stuff to them.

Personally, I hope you don't need any of it, and you can return to your lives. If you do need it, I'm sure it will be there again.

Hurricane Rita

Okay, everyone is freaking out about hurricane Rita coming to Austin. We are 3 and a half hours inland. The biggest risk that it is going to pose for us is a cultural one because the storm is washing up massive amounts of white trash from some of Texas' finest coastal cities.

Sooo, If you like cheap canned beer you should really stock up on that instead of water. In fact, I will help make you a grocery list of items that are soon to be in short supply. If something on here is something you can't live without PLEASE remain calm and get your ass to Dollar General or Wal-Mart ASAP!!!!

1) Doral cigarettes
2) Canned beer tallboys (Mickeys, Coors, MB, ETC)
3) coozies
4) flip flops
5) Slim Jims
6) Muscle shirts ***This one is very important...Some of these people didn't have the time to pack their collection...
7)Fritos and canned bean dip

I've got a living room with a small couch (so you'd probably be more comfortable on the floor with a thermarest actually).

I live in a small duplex in Richardson, TX. My daughter's room will be empty this weekend for a few days if you need a short-term place to crash and don't mind sleeping in a frilly pink fluffy day bed.

Serious inquiries only. Sorry, we don't have fun at my house, so no smoking/drugs/alcohol, etc. Email tschap(at)gmail(dot)com, OH and since my wife's an english teacher, we will expect you to bring a book and read quietly during "reading time".

(all my demands are negotiable, obviously, since I'm trying to inject some levity into this thread, even though my attempt is rather poor. hehehe)

In case you have doubts about my trustworthiness, if you have Google Earth, we're located approximately 32 degrees 57' North, by 96 degrees 44' West, give or take a " or two. And yes, I know going out on a limb by posting that, but I'm trying to be generous here, so I want people to feel comfortable e-mailing me if they really desperately need a place to stay this weekend.
2005-09-22 11:08:16 AM
i have a extra room in INDEPENDENCE,KY. about 20 miles south of cincinnati ohio.
2005-09-22 11:08:42 AM
I think the generosity here is wonderful.

And SecretAgentWoman: Don't be so hard on yourself! For a real estate agent you look fantastic. For an IT pro, well, lets just say you've changed a narrow-minded fools prejudice.
2005-09-22 11:08:45 AM
I live in FL. I was hit by 3 out of the 4 major hurricanes that came our way last year. If where you are living is only expecting a Cat. 1 don't sweat it. It's really something you can just sleep through. Do have a few supplies on hand though. Anyone else expecting stronger than's probably best to leave.
2005-09-22 11:09:29 AM
Spare bedroom if anyone(s) need it. 5,300' above sea level just South of Denver. Bring your guns and beer. Email: jaysevern @ gmail . com

Oh hell yes... you can't properly loot unless you're wearing a wife beater. That's scientifically proven.
2005-09-22 11:09:57 AM
We have a giant couch to sleep on, beer in the fridge, and liquor in our freezer. You would have to drive to Louisville though. Just think of it as a pre-derby party.

/does anyone else in the country have derby parties?
2005-09-22 11:11:40 AM
bobgilbert Anybody heading towards the Nashville area?

I live in Huntsville, AL.. about two hours south of Nashville. If anyone is headed there let me know. I'll try to help with food/amenities and whatever else I can. I can also keep you company, and stuff.

Contact info in profile, feel free to get in touch if you need something. Don't be too proud to ask.

2005-09-22 11:13:16 AM

I've got a couch in the middle of the DFW area if someone needs. You'll have to put up with my dog though, she's friendly, and I smoke....cigarettes.

I was at the grocery store last night (Randall's @ Braker and 183 in Austin if you care) and you'd think the apocalypse was nigh. The water isle was empty and the bread and egg sections were decimated. I forgot to look at the dairy section but can only speculate that it suffered the same fate. All this in a place that will get a couple inches of rain and maybe lose power for a while due to downed tree limbs.

/I've got room for hot my pants
//we better not lose power saturday, I don't want to miss any college football

Farkers needing or willing to put up shelter from Rita discussion thread.

I am willing to shelter people from Rita discussion threads. I have used greasemonkey and Firefox to design a filter that strips these threads from the Fark frontpage. You can stop by my house in Boston to use it if you need, but I don't have any room for you to stay.

2005-09-22 11:17:41 AM
I would offer my couch, except my wife's making me use it right now.

/Will someone please remind WAL-MART to freaking move their guns & ammo out BEFORE the looters arrive, this time?

I have a small apartment with a couch in the suburbs of Detroit. Maybe not good for a family but I can take a single person. I also have a boss that might let you work for a couple days for cash. I think my email is in my profile, but maybe not...
