Do you mean their house fees? I'd be interested in finding out if the lower dance prices come with a lower house fee for the girls. If not, then that's just effed.

Great, as if we didn't have big enough problems with con artists posing as evacuees and charging thousands of dollars for crap on their ill-gotten FEMA cards. Now this..

I would guess that the club is covering the other $19 or whatever.

I hope I'm right.

Ok you just spent all day hearing families weeping as they stared at the slab of concrete that was once a home.

Then you help load up a few swollen bloated dead bodies into a unrefrigerated humvee.

Then you watch some national guardsmen turn over five guys to the NOPD who were raping a 15yr old girl.

Then you get to see the shattered girl sit on the streetcorner waiting for an ambulance to take her away.

TIME FOR LAPDANCE WHOOO HOOO!

Rocketnumbernine: TIME FOR LAPDANCE WHOOO HOOO!

I'm just back from MP missions in NOLA. (sorry for the lack of a thread, but I have to get pics developed)

We cleared the Convention center, kicking doors and using flash-bangs. There are some things I saw, and smelled, that I will never forget. We did some good. Rescued some people, got some shiatheads off the street. We even rescued and adopted puppies. (I swear I'll have pics soon)

A lapdance and a beer or two would have been a welcome distraction at the end of the day.

2005-09-21 06:24:21 PM
You really needed FLASH BANGS to get people out of that festering hole they were forced to live in? What.. did they become night dwellers and couldnt handle the light?

2005-09-21 06:24:40 PM
This is an excellent way to recruit volunteers.

This use of the "hero" tag depresses me.

Twitch OSX: festering hole they were forced to live in?

The good folks that were in the Center came out voluntarily, and were taken via helicopter to evacuation sites.
They were given any aid that we had. Food, water, evacuation to medical aid.

The ones that wouldn't come out were the hardcore criminals- the murderers, rapists, and thieves preying on the weak. they used the Convetion Center as a base of operations.
The building is three floors, a mile and a quarter long.
There are literally hundreds of rooms, stairwells, and other places to hide.

Last I remember, there was no Deja Vu in New Orleans, unless they've opened one in the six months since I've left. There is, however, a Hustler Club, which is part of Deja Vu.

Judging from the photo, it appears to be Crazy Horse, if I'm not mistaken.

/seems to know Bourbon St. strip clubs a bit too well

2005-09-21 06:37:02 PM
You people obviously have never been to said club. $1 is STILL too much for those dogs.

I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit.

This use of the "hero" tag depresses me.

You try rescuing assholes from a sunken sewer of a city, in the heat, humidity and festering bacterial sludge of one of the worst floods in history, without any recreational breaks. Remember, you're a woman (assuming from the princess tag), you may not want to see tits while you unwind from the stress of digging up and identifying rotting corpses, but some men might. Who are you to throw stones, while sitting all resplendent in your air conditioned, above water abode?

Maybe if they were all allowed to watch "Sex and the City" and talk about shoes, you would think the hero tag appropriate?

2005-09-21 06:45:42 PM
Lazymojo - Don't assume I like that retarded Sex and the City shiat, please. I have two pairs of shoes and they are sneakers. I'm just saying that I don't think anything pertaining to a strip club is heroic in the slightest. It is much more heroic to be the type of person who doesn't go to strip clubs and is still a perfectly sexy man. It's just my opinion, so don't crucify me for it, ok? If people want to go to strip clubs, I believe they have the right to do it. I believe in such freedoms.

HeWhoHasNoName: I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit.

When they came up with the plan, in conjunction with NOLA SWAT, that's exactly what a few of us said.

We were only half kidding.

Methinks the gentleman has got the point.

You, Ma'am, are exactly what America is all about.
When you disagree with something, even publically disapprove, and still defend it as a right, you are acting in the spirit of the framers of the constitution.

I tip my beret to you, and wish the rest of the world would get the hint.

2005-09-21 06:53:46 PM
Coooooooooool!

$1 per private dance = 30-50 seconds that'll take anyone's mind off the misery they've been dealing with all day, plus the girls are getting paid again, so the drug trade can take root again.

now, the taxes on the drinks can be used to shore up the levees for Rita and all the other storms that are coming to wipe NOLA off the face of the earth, raise our gas prices, and create a totalitarian state which will look not unlike snake pliskin's world

Gorgor - that pic is no resemblance to me, and I'm not stomping off pissed. The only thing that pissed me off was that some jerkoff just stereotyped me because I'm a female. I happen to have a strong dislike for strip clubs. It has nothing to do with naked women. Naked women are fine. Hopefully I'm still entitled to an opinion in the USA. That said, let me reiterate my strong belief in a person's right to go to strip clubs, open them, have sex in them...whatever. I just don't think it is a lofty thing.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but I used to work on sound systems in the Quarter, and from what I remember, Deja Vu was a "female impersonator" club. Can any displaced NOLA Farkers chime in?

Strip clubs are certainly far from lofty. A lot of them are just plain pathetic. I mean c'mon, it's not like you're going to get any from the strippers. If you're serious about getting with a stripper ask her out after work and you better be really attractive or have lots of money.

Why is it OK for you to judge the person who chose to label this "hero", and stereotype strip clubs as a "bad thing", but not ok for us to do the same to you? ;)

2005-09-21 07:26:28 PM
I certainly don't feel like I'm in a hole, more like on the freaking guillotine.

Anyhow, I didn't judge the person who chose the hero tag. I just said the choice made me sad. What's wrong with that? I am also not stereotyping when I say that I think strip clubs are "bad." Strip clubs are what they are, right? I haven't misunderstood what goes on there, have I? I think the difference in someone stereotyping me is that they know nothing about me except that I'm a woman. But if it makes some people happy to stereotype me, feel free. I can take it, even though I have a killer migraine right now.

2005-09-21 07:30:38 PM
Strip clubs are what they are, right?

Yep, and what "they are" is just another place of business.

It strikes me that if this story had been about some organic food store reopening, you'd have been all for the hero tag.
