That looks like an ugly, ugly bathroom scale.

/Loves his G4 PowerBook and can't believe how hideous laptops can get

The cheapest one, the "base model," sells for $3000 and has a 1.86 Ghz processor and 12" display. What a bargain!

In keeping with the tradition of their other products, it probably weighs 45 pounds and has a battery life of 5 minutes.

That penis size thing....can't get enough of that joke.

/drives Mazda.

Pale green.... is it a Miata? From what I hear it's a sports car, and that too means you have a small penis.

2005-09-14 01:01:45 PM
It's cheaper than a real 'ruggedized' laptop.

What do I get for driving a sports car that *looks* like a penis?

oh, and I can't believe the pictures on that site.. stylized yuppie couple coming out of their house to hop in the hummer for the commute to work.. they can't be carpooling, there must be a second hummer not in the picture.

Christ, it really looks like a parody, but it's not.

2005-09-14 01:09:47 PM
I'll bet a Toughbook could kick that Hummer laptop's ass.

Bravo! Headline and article.

2005-09-14 03:40:32 PM
Well, I hate to admit to being repetitive, but this is the second time in the last year or so that I've had a "small penis" joke headline about a new Hummer-themed product greenlighted (the other one is here.) You have to stick with what works for you!

Well the Ad Wizards call it The Laptop for the Hummer Lifestyle.

But the lifestyle of a Hummer-driver is of someone who cheats their way through Business School, uses nepotism to get a job in middle-management, and then routinely cheats on a surgically-enhanced wife. I don't see how the design of this laptop reflects that.

na-nas = norks?

First thing I thought of. Mind you, that shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone who knows me personally.

/Obligatory

Well, let us think.

At this time, I have one of those 17 inch laptops and really want the 19 when it comes out.
So, that 12 (my eyes are going, I get more farsighted every year) looks a bit more like a smart car than a hummer.

Still, my first laptop was a twelve, back when I only had to stand 5 feet away from the display to read it.

Only a geek can say Pansy ass laptop and get the proper level of distain.

In keeping with the Hummer tradition the specifications suck anus.

To anyone who drives an H2

It's not a military based vehicle.
It's built on the same platform as a Chevy Tahoe. It's also the most repaired vehicle in America.

I guess this means the laptop is built off some spare Dells with an extra 4 pounds of body molding. I bet the HD doesn't even have a G sensor for if you drop it, thus making an Apple Powerbook more rugged.

2005-09-14 08:58:49 PM
Looks like shiat, the liquidy kind.

No doubt millions of these things will be used to check email in the suburbs.

Dr. Robotnik:

Where did you get the original for that?
I would love to know more :D

2005-09-14 09:02:37 PM

And the thing is, like the Hummer, that laptop only get 10 miles a gallon itself.

"Uh, baby, yeah, make my prostate feel good ... ummmmmmmmm ...."

2005-09-14 09:02:54 PM
submitter great headline

who would have thought that someone would create a hummer and lap in the same product...what's next?

2005-09-14 09:04:22 PM
I looked everywhere, but I couldn't find the part where it said it gave blowjobs. I that an optional add-on?

Seems that there will be a surge in worm/virus spread as yuppies (with small penises) haul their rugged latops in their rugged H2s to work and back. I can imagine the headache.

On second thought, this could make for some highly entertaining BOFH episodes.

/Yes, I read Slashdot

2005-09-14 09:07:10 PM
Wow that's ugly as fark.

Yes, I would link to it but it would get my ass banned.

For some reason it makes me think Power Ranger. Just take a look at the yellow one. I guess only 8 year olds would like how a hummer looks.

Weird.

This is actually an Itronix VR1 which is the "semi-rugged" series of laptops by this company. They also make machines that can be hosed off or thrown onto concrete and survive. Marketing gimmick, that is all.

http://www.itronix.com/products/notebooks/vr1.asp

2005-09-14 09:12:42 PM
It may not suck as much as you guys think. It is made by Itronix (http://www.itronix.com/) which makes industrial and military grade laptops. Still, most people that buy this will do it for the Hummer name, and carry it to their office.

2005-09-14 09:14:18 PM
yeah, look at the guy on his private jet and at his mansion...boy that's one rugged lifestyle.

2005-09-14 09:18:55 PM
From the back it kind of looks like it was made by Fisher-Price.

If it gets more than 10 minutes of battery life they will have to recall it because it doesn't go with the whole Hummer theme. But seriously, I bet the thing will get less than 1 hour sitting idly.

I am also willing to bet the whole "toughness" feature is a total joke too. Within a week of it coming out some tech-geek site will write an article about how they were able to break one by dropping it from 2 feet onto a carpet.
