Anyone else getting sick of these stupid laws banning psudophedrine from the medicine isle. Even with them it is still easier to get the psudophedrine than the anhydrous ammonia.

psudophedrine = Anyone can buy it, just not so much now
anhydrous ammonia = Hardly anyone can buy it. Hard to store.

The reason that meth is so popular in farm country is because anhydrous ammonia is so easy to steal. Put locks on the tanks and add GloTell to make the ammonia useless for meth cooks. Sure as heck would be cheaper to use GloTell at $9 per ton of ammonia than all the money we are spending to keep track of the psudophedrine.

Thats one wierd image, all these tweakers wandering around in the moonlight scratching in the dirt. Creepy like some wierd zombie movie.

Strange is the word. Its not every day that an amphetamine/arrowhead economy spontaneously erupts.

Isn't this a repeat?

Not only a repeat, but the second meth thread in two days.

Don't pick on the admins for greenlighting this. It's hard to keep track of the dupes when you run out of Drano to cook your stuff.

Found me an arrowhead in this thread:

Rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated.

Why don't they just sell piping hot slices of rhubarb pie instead?

2005-09-12 01:43:37 AM
Good. My plan is going according to plan. Now that the arrowhead economy is picking up, my syndicate can control the movement of the arrowheads and make millions from junkies.

/begins carving arrowheads out of stones to sell

One little thing can revive a guy, and that is a taste of rhubarb pie
Serve it up, nice and hot, maybe things aren't as bad as you thought

Jeez, I'm on Ritalin (Concerta)
but I'm so lethargic, maybe I should step up to Meth.
Then I can start the worthwhile hobby of collecting arrowheads.

So this is why we have a lot of meth heads and very little crime in NE Arkansas!

YAY! My home state was greenlit by fark. And actually by smart people who realize the value of artifacts.

I have collected arrow heads all of my life. They are all over out here however, now it is illegal to dig for them in Florida.. not that it stops me. I am such a bad, bad American.

2005-09-12 04:03:26 AM
Somehow this doesn't surprise me. I used to know a couple of meth heads and they were farking wierd/crazy. And yet i can see them out in the riverbed in the middle of the night looking for arrowheads in big groups. It is kinda erie.

Alright, this just made me laugh my ass off. I happen to live in this area. Back a few years ago when I was on this shiat, we always went arrowhead hunting, I even still have some of them. We would normally go up to Bradford, and Possum Grape, sometimes Augusta, and just walk the fields, most times from 1 am to sunrise. It failed to mention that a lot of the dealers will trade dope for arrowheads, that's a common practice in this area. And people have been arrowhead hunting in these parts for years and years, it didn't just start. Funny way to find out someone you knew was in jail though, reading it on Fark.

I was lucky enough to kick the habit after nearly dying, took me a while, and all this time later I still get an itch to go out and get geeked. Meth is a farking demon, and the cops around this area are corrupt. The Bald Knob police chief is a farking meth head, and as long as he gets his cut of the dope, and the money, he lets most of the cooks go. So there's no sign of it letting up around here any time soon. I'm apt to bet that the situation is the same in most other small towns like BK.

I guarantee you if someone piss tested the police in Bald Knob, Judsonia, Searcy, Bradford, and most of the White county sheriffs who patrol in those areas and up to Russell, and Possum Grape, less than half of them would come up clean. Hell, Landis has a few cooks of his own, uses some of his relatives to sell the shiat for him.

Some of you may think I'm full of shiat, but if there are any feds out there visiting Fark, run down to BK and give old Larry a piss test this weekend, see what happens. Hah, he's going be pissed if anyone around this area hears about this post and tells him. Hell, maybe he comes here himself. Everyone say hello to Larry!

But anyway, there are so many different ways of making that shiat though, and the only ingredient that is common through all methods of production is the pseudoephedrine. So just adding locks and some chemical to the ammonia won't work.

Probably shouldn't have posted any of that, but fark it.

I'd much rather the meth heads in Arkansas be out there looking for arrowheads than breaking into cars or anything else. Have to admit it's an interesting hobby for a group of people to sparadically pick up....

2005-09-12 06:11:44 AM
I've only encountered one person like the article describes, and sure enough, his deep-Ozark hovel was a two-minute hike from a sheltered outcropping littered with arrowheads.

I farking hate meth. I used to live in CA and I now live in NH. I hope that stuff doesn't make it here cause it will ruin a segment of society.

I saw an episode of COPS about two weeks ago where they were doing meth busts. They caught one guy who had a backpack full of cool looking stones and arrowheads. He claimed he was a geologist which got a nice laugh out of all the pigs. The officers had never seen anything like it before so I guess it was a new thing wherever they were. I think it was Oregon.

"medicine isle"???

Actually I believe that ephedrine (not psEudoEphedrine) is the drug that has recently become better regulated. The reason was because of meth production and jack-asses abusing it.

No it doesnt bother me that people cant buy 6 pounds of ephedrine via the internet.

I met a guy a couple weeks back who said he was part of a group of people who fashioned themselves to be 'Antweekers'. They steal antique tiles, furniture, etc. and restore them with the focusing power of crystal meth. Apparently in the LA area there are terracotta tiles installed on walls everywhere which are worth $100 to $5000 per tile.

Three Putt: It's not so hard to believe someone might be a geologist, or a student geologist, and a meth head. I had a friend who put himself through the UC system to get a degree in the sciences. He had to do meth to keep up with the school work and his job. He quit right after graduating.

Ephedrine and pseudoephedrine are interchangeable as far as making meth is concerned. Clamping down on pseudoephedrine will just cause the cooks to start growing ephedra. Remember "A Scanner Darkly"? PKD knew a thing or two about meth...

Just go to Starbucks and get a vente cafe mocha. I can't imagine ever needing to get more wired than that.

those whining farmers!! i cannot believe the turn this article took, these are the most tame tweakers ever, you better not start tryin to take away their arrowheads. then they'll just go back to home invasion robbery to fund the habit. dumbasses

I read this in the local paper a couple weeks ago and I can't believe they are just now figuring this out. Tweakers have been doing this for years.

I will gladly ask the pharmacist for it if it keeps legislators from banning it completely or making it available (again) only by prescription.

Actually I believe that ephedrine (not psEudoEphedrine) is the drug that has recently become better regulated. The reason was because of meth production and jack-asses abusing it.

Where I live, it is pseudoephedrine that is behind the counter; they seem to have overlooked the ephedrine for some reason. But in some stores you can't buy *any* cold medicine, even benadryl (yeah, I know it's not really a cold med) without asking for it. Kids around here have also been getting high on dextromethorphan, and there is talk of also banning that.

Pretty soon we will have no cold/allergy relief available at all without a doctor visit.

The thing about the farmers is, they don't even collect the arrowheads. Every time they plough the fields they turn some up, but most of them get broken. If someone comes along and picks them up, tweaker or not I don't see any problem with it.

Encountered these tyros only once in twenty years, and wasn't much impressed with their skills (but they were on the downside of the curve - stereotyped buccal thrusting - lips bleeding from constant licking) checking the same area of the stream bed over and over and over.

I've gotten pretty good tossing around my Eastwing rock hammer (helps me concentrate), and all that spinning of the steel freaked them out and they left the area (the titanium tire iron, for leveraging larger chunks of fossilized fern trunks, seemed to register).

I spend nearly all my free time wandering up and down the local stream beds searching for fossils, the occasional Pre-Woodland ten Lb. ax head is a nice bonus, but on the whole there is so much lithic human trash around here it's like walking through a landfill of whacked chert.

Now, I'm more concerned with over-the-top-cops than with any overly medicated yahoos:

"On Saturday a local Boone County Sheriff's Deputy, shot and killed a local man who, the deputy stated, failed to respond when ordered to drop what appeared to be a weapon, but turned out to be a rock hammer. The man apparently was unable to hear the deputy's instruction over the sound of the water rushing down the Hinkson Creek. The deputy fired a warning shot that killed the man instantly. Recent concerns about meth users stealing artifacts resulted in an increase of patrols in these areas, and might have contributed to this unfortunate incident."

/legalize all of everything - offer free rehab/lock up the any alky/druggie that farks with others for life - or execute them. The worst crime is sacrificing the innocent in the name of `Harm Reduction'

Draconigena,

It's just my Plainview, but I think we can appoint you AnthroGeek Queen alongside of king Clovis ... and that's not just an attempt to Biface with our new ruler. Just remember, you can Folsom of the people some of time but you can't fool all the people all of the time.

(Okay, after this post, I probably need to move back into my parents' basement)
