This can only be settled by means of shaolin showdown.

Well, Disney could easily solve the shark fin soup problem by simply replacing it with tiger urine donkey steaks.

Disneyland is building shoddy nuclear plants in Hong Kong?

Maybe the permits are easier to get there.

Guess where the dogs are going?

the media sometimes sounded as though Disney were building a shoddy nuclear plant, rather than a cheerful amusement park with cuddly cartoon characters

Disneyland isn't building shoddy nuclear plants...yet.

"But environmentalists protested that shark populations are being depleted by the fishing industry, which usually hacks off the fin before tossing the fish back into the sea to die."

Hey, I'm all for eating lesser species, but this is wasteful. At least make some sharkskin boots from what's left over.

As much as I like fireworks (a lot) I gotta say fark Disney & the horse they rode in on. About time they caught some shiat for their collective miscreance.
If anyone has issues with how things have gone with copyright law (DMCA q.v.) just check out Disney. They lobbied (bribed) the government heavily to ensure continuation of their precious copyrights into an unnaturally prolonged life.
Their beloved Mickey Maus has cost our entire society dearly. Seems like it would be ironic if the Chinese stood up to them on copyright issues. May they lose money big time.

I lied, i'm still here of course. I was skeptical at first, but a little yoga makes a great side dish for a rich and meaty etree of bicycling. I've been doing it for about 15 months now and enjoy it. no flashes of enlightenment yet, but I did quit smoking cigarettes.

Lantau is the largest island? I don't think so, but am too lazy to check. Dogs running about are a serious problem. I used to hike on Lantau, many times my progress was stopped by a pack of wild dogs sleeping on the trail. What to do? Do I hike back over the farking mountain or wait for locals to clear them out for me? Of course the best wild animals in HK were the crocodile swimming about (and the locals who thought they could capture it) and the occasional monkey that hops on a ferry and runs amuck in Central.

Isn't Disney building a park in Shanghai?

Apparently some of Hong Kong's citizens also had a problem with Disney's McBukkake Gardens, or so Pat Metheney was telling me anyway, but sometimes I think Pat just plain outright lies sometimes, to impress? to compensate for inadequate self-esteem? I'll have to discuss this with his German wife sometime soon.

Yup, Disney is looking at Shanghai. Isn't for sure yet, and won't open until after 2010 anyway. There's a Hooters in Shanghai, and it has a pretty flatchested staff.

2005-09-11 11:27:11 PM
Ah, krovvy, that is too bad about the lack of boobies at the Hooters (never been to it). If you desire boobies, go to any ex-pat bar and you will soon be surrounded by prostitutes, some with boobs, some without. Oh, and the bargirls can be bought as well.

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. "Oh, no," I said. "Disneyland burned down." He cried and cried, but I think that deep down, he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.

How screwed up is Disney?

Fark man, I liked Patrick Stewart. Now he's doing that shiatty American Dad show and a purile Star Trek joke on Family Guy tonight and now this. He wouldn't even notice the money from all this crap among the Star Trek residual checks and the 2 or 3 X-Men movies he has left in him. WTF?

Lantau is huge

I still remember when it was mainly an attraction to see the monks and the giant buddha when I was there in '89. Then when I went back in '99 Lantau had the airport and lotsa high rises.

2005-09-12 12:43:55 AM
OK, then how about Hong Kong Disneyland Wal-Mart Megacenter?

Sounds like a photo-op to me.

There's Peng Chau too, as well as various places in the New Territories. Lamma Island is nice too. But you're right. Cheung Chau is the best of the lot.

I was on Lamma last weekend and it's got a worse wild-dog problem than Lantau now. Cheung Chau is definitely the best of the bunch, although the Suicide Villas Hotel is a bit strange.

Pbrews, Last One Left, Farking Addict,

You guys have been hanging around too many locals if you think Lamma has a wild dog problem.

2005-09-12 04:41:11 AM
Komplex

Take a boat from Aberdeen and come ashore on Lamma near Lok Chau.

Then you'll meet the wild dog problem.

Of course there's none in the well-trodden areas around Sok Kwu Wan etc, but I've had some damn hairy moments hiking in the wilder parts of Lamma, even this year when it's supposed to have improved.
