Bad assumption. At my old job, we had a guy, who changed into a girl (the entire post-op thing), who is now a lesbian. Small sample size, but there is was (or wasn't).

If it's such a bad assumption, why isn't harassment mentioned in any way in the article? Women were, according to the information provided in the article, uncomfortable by Arpollo's male genitals, not his actions. It also states there was no criminal intent (i.e. rape), so I think my assumption is pretty fair.

Tell that to a man or woman who has had a tran life experience. Can you not accept the possibility that a person's brain and mind may be programmed toward one gender identification while their body develops toward another? It's hard enough having a sexual attraction to a member of your "own" gender in a society that makes you feel unsafe and dirty for such thoughts. Hopefully, you can figure out how much more difficult life is to handle when you try to act in the gender role assigned to you when, deep down, you're absolutely sure that you are *not* that gender, especially with people telling you that you have a mental problem, that you're sick in the head, and telling you to get a grip.

Going through the painful surgery and hormonal treatments to get the parts that will match up your body with your gender role is the choice some people make to preserve their sanity and make it possible to operate among other people, although a lot of people will judge them to be subhuman or unworthy of respect at a glance or a listen.

Well, shiat, the Wikipedia article I linked didn't really explain it as well as I thought it would. Basically, a lot of medical professionals are finding pretty good evidence that Gender Dysphoria can often be caused by a chemical mix-up while the child is still developing in the womb. Their body gets androgens or doesn't, cementing their physical development in one way, but the chemical bath that genders their mental development goes the other way. Since we can hardly change a lifetime of developmental experience in someone's brain, the best shot at giving such an individual a balanced and happy life is to help them change their body to fit their head.
