This reminds me about the time when I was a kid and played the part of preteen Vic in Inge's The Rainy Afternoon. I was playing house with two sisters. One invited me to come "upstairs to bed" with her, which was really a loft in a barn, since she was observing what her parents did. I accepted against my best judgment. My character, I mean.

Study needs a control. I'd like to see if any children were included whose parents were Vegetarian. Did they choose mainly vegetable foods, or did they buy burgers. Which wins, Parental Influence or McDonalds adverts?

I don't know about anyone else,but when we were kids,we played "Swat Team" with my sisters' Barbies and her Dream House. You put about 3 GI Joes holding 6 Barbie hostages,and try to take them out with suction cup darts without harming the civilians. Good times.

I was the exact opposite. I never really mimicked my parents smoking habbits as a child. I took up smoking when I was 15. I quit (hopefully for good) nearly 3 months ago.

It's nauseating that "researchers" have been pulling stunts like this for years, fully prepping their "studies" and "surveys" for a given shocking outcome, which they then use to advocate changes in public policy.

Hell, years ago, my 5th grade class knew that something was up, getting questionnaires with questions like, "How often do you do heroin?" 1) Three times a day 2) Once a day 3) Three times a week 4) Once a week 5) Three times a month 6) Once a month... 10) Never."

They questions covered *insanely* wrong behavior for middle class 5th graders, and all were stacked like that one. WE, THE FIFTH GRADERS, figured out that they were trying to make everyone as uncomfortable as possible to put "Never" after each and every question, as if there was something *wrong* with them as a kid.

But why would they do this? How wrong, how perverted do you have to be to try to use elementary school children to get what you politically want? And money?

I'm sure they still rationalize what they are doing, with some "ends justify the means" arguments.

When 5th graders complain to their teacher that they think they are being used for some twisted political purpose, don't you think that it is time to put a halt to nonsense like this?

My Barbies were all lesbians while I was growing up. I didn't have any male dolls so I started hooking up all the female ones with each other. I also had one Barbie that I dressed in a long dress and Little House on the Prairie type sunbonnet. All the other Barbies made fun of her because she was from the country.

Researchers discovered while researching other researchers that researching researches is more difficult than researching researchers. Researchers also found that this is all Briteny Spears' fault.

What's sad is that the parents needed the researchers to make them stop and actually pay attention to what their kids say and do when they role play.
You can learn a lot by watching kids play, especially your own.

Pretty soon you'll be remembering how your parents were in a Satanic coven and ritualistically murdered dozens of babies in the basement. Hey! That study was important to the War on Drugs. Heroin dealers lurk everywhere, and our kids are most vulnerable. Why do you hate America?

whammer: Did you ever stop to think that they were actually doing legitimate research? It may be incomprehensible to you that 5th graders would be doing heroin, but there are area where it happens. Your class may have been part of a larger study that involved areas with wide-spread drug use and areas with little drug use, particularly among younger children. That's just one of many plausible explanations for the study you participated in.

I've done psychological research, and it's not because I have a political agenda. It's because I'm curious about stuff.
