Unless you folks in the UK arent driving into the continent (i know you can but how many of you do on a regular basis) there isnt much room to complain. 100 miles is a short country drive around here.. If I want to visit relatives I am looking at a minimum of 150 miles maximum of just under 2000 miles. The gas is only cheaper if the use is the same. Also.. stuck in the middle of nowhere in iowa there is no train and barely a bus service to get out of town.

/would love to have a decent public transportation system

over $3.20 right across the river in indiana.

We're being punished for the fact that Lugar has of late dared to break ranks and criticize Chimpy's (lack of) foreign policy.

$3.49/gal everywhere between Syracuse and Binghamton, NY. Cost me $68 for 3/4 of a tank the other day. Luckily, I'm fortunate enough that an extra $20 in gas a week doesn't really impact my budget. I do feel bad for those who it does - I know it would have killed me when I went to college.

2005-09-04 01:52:24 PM
$2.85-$3.10 Beaumont, TX

Ive only found one place with $2.85, everywhere else is about $3 on the dot...except chevron, because they think that techron crap is worth the extra 15 cents a gallon

I would like to slightly threadjack this.

I submitted this as a survey the other day, but it didn't get the greenlight.

If you were rich, would you care? If money was no object to me, I can't imagine I would care. Sure, there might be some sort of biting based on principal factor, but I can't say I much would care.

Any rich farkers out there care to comment?

$2.989, Kalamazoo, MI

2005-09-04 01:54:13 PM
Last I saw was $2.99-$3.39 in Alta Loma, California. (About 40 minutes east of Los Angeles). I haven't been driving much enough to pass a station, so I'm assuming it's already risen a few cents.

I'm hoping my dream I had a few weeks ago driving past a Chevron that said "$10.19" for premium doesn't come true.

AMEN, car_go_fast- well said.

I'd love to be eco friendly too, but it's not easy around here. I try to limit my driving to and from the train station to take the MTA to get to work.

As for mytoastiscold's suggestion to move to a place with better public transportation, that's brilliant on so many levels. I was thinking maybe I could just move to the the back woods and live off of mother earth. Then I'm not a slave to CT gas prices, or the insane property costs in places with great transist systems like Boston or NYC.

//packing my bags as we speak
//// can I bring my hair dryer to the back woods?
