I just heard on a police scanner that a tent city is being set up in Crawford Texas.

Headline: September 11, 2005..

As the former city of New Orleans continues to fall into lawlessness, President Bush has decided to remove all remaining police and military forces and abandon the city.
No details yet as to the next step, but people in Texas and other surrounding states are bracing for the worst as the violence seems to be spreading like disease..

I remember during the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles, the CA National Guard was called into the area to restore calm. They were all armed with their M-16's and,......3 rounds of ammunition each. Shades of Barney Fife.

The point of a show of force is the show of force. Demonstrate that the rules of society still apply, and opportunistic looters will disperse.

No need to put guardsmen in a position where they might panic and massacre a crowd. If you need to shoot the odd armed looter, you do an aimed shot.

I hold him responsible for the clusterfark in Iraq. In this situation, I hold him responsible for not providing adequate leadership from above. However, this has so far been mostly Blanco's show to fark up, and she's done so royally.

The latest from New Orleans today is some of the most disturbing news we've ever had to report on...
As the violence and lawlessness continues, rival street gangs have apparently taken to attacking each other in what seems a power play for the whole city.
With the city limits abandoned by the federal government, and over 500,000 people without home spread across more than 12 cities, there is worry tonight that if the President doesn't make a move soon, then this will spill out into the cities most affected by the hurricane, including Houston, where tens of thousands of people sit waiting..

I'm sure they are, and i'm sure they're writting it up now. The liklihood of them being told to sit on this is pretty overwhelming though. If the majority of the country heard about this, the outrage and panic would spread at an unbelievable rate.

Not a majority. It's a very small percentage of people who are causing the problems. The vast majority left the city on thier own when told to do so, and didn't loot anything. But aside from that, you're right.
