Does MSNBC think really have a useless news department?

From: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8801092/

"CNN said it appeared that there were 200 people aboard."

BarkingPumpkin: KaponoFor3 - Air France flies lots of Boeing craft

Well, I stand corrected. Had no idea.

2005-08-02 04:51:59 PM
It was Air France so we know it wasn't teh terrorists.

I think Brian from briansprediction.com predicted this.

The pictures you're seeing on CNN are coming from the traffic monitoring surveillance cameras.

Looks like the fire trucks are gettin to work. The airport is pretty close to the 401, so I guess it's lucky it didn't go too far.

2005-08-02 04:52:26 PM
Per FoxNews, it was landing. Doesn't sound like textbook terrorism or anything. Many mechanical problems could've forced a skid. So could wine. Pray for the passengers and their families - that looks nasty.

2005-08-02 04:52:28 PM
In other news, the entire fleet of commercial jets is now grounded for two years.

2005-08-02 04:52:50 PM
it's an Airbus 340.

2005-08-02 04:53:03 PM
Shiat.

Did anyone manage to make it out?

Hopefully polar bears won't eat the survivors.

Thanks to global warming, polar bears are extinct. They will have to worry about Anancondas though.

"I can fly again. Sorry for those souls, but I knew one of these was due, so I have been (irrationally) holding off on flying."

Wrong! Disasters come in threes. You gotta wait until two more planes bite the dust, THEN, you'll be good to go.

2005-08-02 04:53:36 PM
Why? Why, Zee?

2005-08-02 04:54:05 PM
God damnit Airbus...
not sure if this was pilot error or what... but Airbus has a nasty reputation anyway. Leave it to Boeing, even Loockheed to a lesser extent.

Hopefully polar bears won't eat the survivors.

Not in the summer. If this were descember that might be a risk. No, they're more likely to have there bones picked clean by gangs of roving racoons. That is if they don't drown in the mountains of Canada goose poop first.

Felgraf: Did anyone manage to make it out?

I doubt many would survive a hard crash. The fuselage is burning badly.

2005-08-02 04:55:19 PM
That's going to be quite the logbook entry for that pilot.

2005-08-02 04:55:29 PM
I thought all flights were non-smoking.

Qantas has never lost a jet aircraft, no fatalities since about '51 iirc.

it was fighting to stay on the runway - but just surrendered....

That internet prediction guy said there was going to be a plane crash just recently... I hope he's wrong about the ricin in the water supply.

I have heard that it was landing. According to a TFer who can see the smoke from where he is.

I work on the other side of the 427 from the Airport, and I can see the top of the smoke plumes from out the window.

As far as I've heard on AM 680, the passengers were evacuated, and it was a bad takeoff. Most of the flights were delayed due to the thunderstorm, and I guess this pilot missed the memo.

Yeah, it's looking grim as far as survivors based on the video I'm seeing. Such a good record for lack of crashes at YYZ, too...until now.

Before you all go on a terror kick, read my other post, and those around here-there has been a nasty storm rolling through the area and Pearson was closing because of it.

Pulse 24 just said pilot and copilot are both alive

Pilot & copilot survived and will be debriefed. (according to Fox.)

2005-08-02 04:57:47 PM
Scary - my folks left for france (from Pearson) this time last week.

I've see the newsflash tag almost every day, but this is the first time I've seen it with Toronto in the headline.

I'll be afraid to fly when events like this become mundane enough to STOP making the news...

ABC News broke into Teen Jeopardy to tell everyone about this crash. Yes, I was watching and still getting the questions wrong. Or is it the answers wrong?

We can now smell burning jet fuel in the office building here.
