A friend of my family is a trained sniper. He gets sent down to these areas of the world to kill (i.e. no trial, no fotmal charges, no presentation of evidence) drugs lords and their men on occasion. Kind of funny how the war on drugs makes them enemy combatents and allows for a complete lack of actual legal procedings.
He says that of the few of these that he has done, there was no attempt at an arrest. He simplky finds a spot and blows there brains out.

Or you could just hate the government's stance on personal freedoms. I do not take drugs, nor do I sell them, but I firmly believe that the government should not be in the business of telling people what they can and cannot put into their own bodies.

Of course, if they're high as a kite and driving a car, they deserve what's coming. However, for the government to arrest someone and steal his property just because he's smoking pot is 100% wrong. And you don't have to be a "pothead" to understand this. And if you've got no problem with it, your letting your own personal bias against "potheads" blind you to a great wrong.

Because all the "police recruits" have only known poverty and corruption, then they are put in positions of authority and take full liberties on the populace, that's how. Work needs to be done from the top down with the corrupt governments in much of Latin America, especially Mexico, since it is on our border.
Even better, start in this country. Volunteer to work with Jr. High kids in the poor part of your town to help lower the demand for drugs. The boys and girls clubs, or big brothers/big sisters in your area would be happy to hear from you.

Yeah, I think a lot of the legalization people truly have never thought of the bad effects drugs have on society, that many people don't have the willpower to avoid highly addictive substances. Free will is important, but some people just can't handle it. I think most illigal drugs should still be controlled in some way. That doesn't necessarily mean tossing people in jail though.
