I think you guys are misinterpreting active lifestyle to mean "lots of sports and excercise."

Last year, my "active lifestyle" was holding down two jobs plus school, and one of those jobs was as a journalist. I was at my wit's end, health failing, and no time to eat food that was good for me. I put on a shiatload of weight.

Another form of stimulant that would encourage weight loss would have been ideal.

sounds like Redline. the stuff prompts the same nervous response as being cold, so you shiver. the shivering burns calories.

Does it have wheels and a motor on it or something? You can have your sugary Coke, but you've got to catch it first!

So the science is clear - your body uses energy to warm something that's cold:

I like the taste of the diet coke with splenda. But what's that new Coke Zero I've been seeing on the shelves? Isn't Diet Coke "Zero"? What else could they take out of it? Maybe the carbonation...

Coke Zero is a reformulation of Diet Coke to make it taste more like full-calorie Coke. It's actually very good, far superior (imo) to Diet Coke / Diet Coke with Splenda. Tastes almost like regular Coke, except for a hint of diet aftertaste.

My concern is that with so many products directly competing with each other -- Diet Coke / Diet Coke with Splenda / Diet Coke Zero -- one or more will get the axe, most likely Zero.

Add to that diet coke with lemon, lime, etc.

And what's up with the Diet Dr Pepper with cherry, vanilla, lemon, lime, and any other artificial flavoring they could find? Gross! Regular DDP tastes closest to the non-diet equivalent of any of the diet drinks, tied with Diet IBC.

I drink diet sodas mainly for the preservation of my teeth. Bathing them in sugar is just wrong.

Yeah, because it is all in the sugar, not the fact that the drink is acidic.

It's not just sugar that's bad for teeth, but the acids included in many popular drinks are said to "eat" away enamel and make teeth more prone to . The pH of regular and diet pops ranges from 2.47-3.35. The PH in our mouth is normally about 6.2 to 7.0 slightly more acidic than water. At a PH of 5.2 to 5.5 or below the acid begins to dissolve the hard enamel of our teeth. Phosphoric and citric acids contribute to the acidity of pop. - http://www.dentalgentlecare.com/diet_soda.htm

um ... doesn't speeding up your heart rate *through use of drugs such as caffeine* put extra pressure on your heart that will eventually, um, kill you??

i don't believe anything coke says... profits first social responsibility a distant second.

My wife drinks this horrible shiat called Redline. 0 calories, 0 sugar, 0 carbs and high energy. It is made as a workout drink because it intentionally chills down your body so that you shiver and break out in cold sweats thus burning calories doing nothing.

I drank one before work one morning because I am a huge fan of energy drinks. I wasn't aware of those side effects. 30 minutes into my work day (I'm a web programmer) I was freezing cold yet my shirt was soaked through with sweat. I got extremely nervous and anxious and I couldn't focus on my monitor. I took the day off, went home and tried to sleep. After about 5 hours of laying in bed I slept for about 30 minutes. I took 2 nyquil and still didn't fall asleep until 4:30AM the next morning. I had to be up at 7, which meant I had to take a 2nd day off of work. The third day I was still drained from catching up the day before, but I did make it through a workday.

My wife thinks it is the greatest thing that has ever been invented. Though she gets so little sleep now she is actually anemic (spelling?) and has to take iron pills.

I will be steering clear of any drink that tells me I can burn calories while drinking it. fark off Coke.

/loves original coke

I know for a fact that soda will rot teeth. My two front teeth had cavities that perfectly fit the opening on a 20 OZ or 2 liter. Soda dissovles teeth. If you drink 2 liters+ every single day for 20 years your teeth will rot. No and's if's or but's.

I'm a Coke Nazi, and Coke Zero tastes like lighter fluid. First time I've ever thrown out a Coke product before finishing it.

I'll stick with my C2 and a couple extra miles on the bike.

FWIW, Passover Coke (made with real cane sugar) is teh s4!t. Look for it when Easter is near.

Enviga, a green tea-based, caffeinated, carbonated drink, (...) Studies have shown that drinking green tea may promote weight loss by stimulating the body to burn calories.

Does anyone know if that applies to decaffeinated green tea?

Who presses the bottle up against their teeth when they drink?

/That's just weird.

Here's a crazy thought: Exercise.

As time has elapsed with food and medical advances that promote weight-loss, America has just gotten fatter. There is no miracle drug, no miracle diet, just freaking burn more calories than you consume and quit relying on gimmicks to do it for you.

They'd have to serve it to you from the can.

Maybe because you shouldn't be drinking 2 liter bottles...

Anyways, Coke Zero is absolutely delicious, along with Diet Dr Pepper.

As for energy stuff, I put in a vote for Metalabs Ripped Fuel. I used to power-lift, now I just do it for the ladies (I know, shallow, but you gotta compete at ASU...the girls here are all 10s). Anyways, every morning, I take two of those, and I just get this infusion of energy that I can knock out the weights at 5 in the morning, and have some left to run for an hour at 5 in the afternoon. Granted, I'm a young 'un, so I'm supposed to have limitless energy...
