Tom Hanks says that this would not happen in baseball.

"Manny said there was a misunderstanding and that Coach Saban went in after practice and said he was sorry he yelled," Schaffer said. "Manny said he was sorry, too, and they agreed to move forward. Coach Saban thinks he has a very bright future, and Manny will do anything to become a valuable part of this team."

Can we rename Manny Nancy?

2005-07-27 10:28:42 AM
Man up nancy, I mean Manny...

2005-07-27 12:19:02 PM
Get'r done, Saban! :) Go LSU!

2005-07-27 12:19:11 PM
Since the rest of the team now knows that he's sensitive, I'm absolutely sure that none of the veteran players would ever use that to their advantage or use him as an increased target for rookie hazing.

2005-07-27 12:22:00 PM
crying before practice? are you farking kidding me? he gets payed to play this game? give me a set of pads and a huge paycheck....

2005-07-27 12:22:03 PM
well his career is over

2005-07-27 12:22:30 PM
I would rather die than cry as a rookie in my first training camp.

Manny said there was a misunderstanding and that Coach Saban went in after practice and said he was sorry he yelled,"

Especially for getting yelled at.

2005-07-27 12:22:40 PM
Do you really want someone like that on your team? Can you imagine how much fun Jonathan Ogden or the entire Baltimore Ravens are going to have with him. If Shannon Sharpe were still in the league.....they would have to talk him off a ledge when they played.

2005-07-27 12:22:43 PM
"He has a lot being thrown at him. I'm sure Manny isn't the first player to get yelled at in practice, and I'm sure he won't be the last."

But he may just be the only one to cry like a little biatch for being yelled at. Wahahahahaha! Getting chewed out was part of the deal on my high school football team and I don't remember any of us going sissy.

"Oh no, the poor big football player got yelled at, awwww."

2005-07-27 12:23:03 PM
That's big boy to be cryin so hard

2005-07-27 12:23:21 PM
While he is a sensitive baby, he's a very big sensitive baby at 6'6, 329. I mean...he could collapse in tears...on top of you.

2005-07-27 12:24:09 PM
this is why they said Saban couldn't coach in the NFL, because the hoity toity NFL primadonnas wouldn't be able to handle his toughness.

Wow. I remember things like this happening on my freshman football team, and I remember the criers catching hell for it later--most of them didn't go out their sophomore year. I can't imagine the hell this guy is going to catch from NFL veterans. Sounds like he needs to sack up a bit.

2005-07-27 12:25:16 PM
HAHA....i can't imagine a 6'6 320lb guy being reduced to tears by someone yelling at him...pics would be awesome? anyone? anyone?

2005-07-27 12:27:20 PM
I laughed at this story when I first heard about it, but I looked at the picture and I feel sorry for him. Not many of us get our humiliations played up in national publications.

Of course he's an idiot and all that, and probably 100% responsible for whatever Saban was yelling about, but I still felt empathy for the guy.

2005-07-27 12:27:29 PM
This guy has little to no chance of making the team to begin with. He was a supplemental draft pick....very few supplemental picks ever end up on NFL rosters.

The crying incident will seal his fate of NFL Europe, where the French like the cry-babies....

2005-07-27 12:28:08 PM

there you go skasteve fixed it for ya

2005-07-27 12:29:34 PM
6'6", 329 lbs, broken down like a punk-ass biatch.

That is so unutterably funny to me that I can't even properly express it.

2005-07-27 12:29:47 PM
Heh.

Go Saban.

That's just MEAN! I mean it's not HIS fault that his mother was a hamster and his father smells of elderberries!

2005-07-27 12:30:55 PM
I can't wait for the first time this guy gets flagged for a penalty in a key situation. Even better if it happens at home. On Monday night. Seeing him run like a little girl off the field on national TV because his home town fans got on his case would be absolutly hillarious.

2005-07-27 12:31:31 PM
Crying cuz you got yelled at!! Too much stress???

I cry every day. I think of work, my wife snoring away in bed and the fact that I will work every single day until I die and I burst into tears in the shower. Its just part of the morning routine. ( that and the dry heaving panic attacks)

Just another day in my world!!

2005-07-27 12:31:36 PM
At least he didn't go blubbering around on national television like the bronco's QB did

2005-07-27 12:32:11 PM
well there ya go! obvious effect of the liberal, sissy-making media! dang commie pinkos and their "feelings" oh boo hoo.

/kidding!

Hm I wouldnt give him crap for crying.

2005-07-27 12:33:14 PM
Whenever my football coach yelled at me I just wanted to laugh in his face, but then I would be running laps. I hate running laps.

It's a game that I enjoyed to play, and I didn't need someone yelling at me to get me riled up.

There was one incident at football practice where one of the coaches yelled at me and said "C'mon, get mad, act like the other team is farking your mother".

My first thought was "gross, who'd want to fark my mother?". Then I wanted to laugh, but I didn't, because then i'd be running laps again.

2005-07-27 12:33:38 PM
outofsync

Maybe he's crying cause he got caught wearing a girdle.

2005-07-27 12:34:23 PM
Somehow, I just don't think this guy is gonna cut it in the pros. He might as well call it a career now.

/Will watch the transaction wire for the next few days

2005-07-27 12:34:28 PM
ok, having seen the picture, i will come to his defense a little. i mean, just think about it. like people have said, he probably has little chance of actually making the team, so just imagine the type of pressure he is under. i'm sure he desperately wanted to have his performance go smoothly, it could be the difference between playing football for a pro team, or being a security guard at his local high school....i can see why he would break down in tears, anyone would

/i wouldnt!

2005-07-27 12:36:28 PM
Is this really news?

Yeah, yeah, he's a farkin' pussy...

How many of you guys would tell him this to his face? Honestly...

2005-07-27 12:37:02 PM

// and don't call me shirley.

2005-07-27 12:39:52 PM
"thats a bummer man.....its a bummer"

2005-07-27 12:40:02 PM
too bad he didn't stomp the coach into the ground..that would have been far easier to deal with than this. Coaches are usually real dicks.

2005-07-27 12:41:31 PM
you know what? wright probably DOES need to toughen up a bit. that said, in the modern NFL, good coaches adjust their coaching style to the type of personalities they're coaching. you coach a sensitive player differently than a "normal" player. even a tough coach like bill parcells often acknowledges this.

that doesn't necessarily mean you coddle sensitive players or yell at less sensitive players; it just means that you treat each player in a manner which will bring out the best in him, whatever that manner might be. sometimes chewing out a sensitive young player will toughen him up; sometimes it will destroy his confidence. good coaches know what buttons to push and when; bad ones won't. we'll see how saban stacks up.

2005-07-27 12:41:32 PM
oufshiskies- not obscure just a patheric excuse for a movie

2005-07-27 12:42:36 PM
Dolphin fans should like him, he fits right in with them!

2005-07-27 12:44:41 PM

2005-07-27 12:46:35 PM
why shouldn't he cry? dolphin fans have been cying for years...

2005-07-27 12:47:45 PM
man, that coach must have some balls to be abusing a player whos 6'6 n 329lb..

2005-07-27 12:48:40 PM
Saban will sh*tcan this guy tout-suite. Randy Mueller, too. He can pretty much write off his career, at least with the Dolphins.

There's no room for this nonsense on an NFL practice field.

Do we get a Dolphins trifecta to-day?

Sheesh, a guy shows human emotion and you all make fun of him because he doesn't fit the "thug" image you think he should have, since he's a football player? Whatever. I can honestly say that there's not a person on this planet who hasn't cried at some point in their life (unless they have some freak disease or mutant abilities maybe.) Ever been so flippin mad about a certian situation that you were absolutely helpless to do anything about? Sure chances are that you just need to step back and look things over until you see what your missing, but not everyone can do that all the time. Some people developer emotionally later in life than others, just because this guy cracked now doesn't mean he didn't just make a huge leap in emotional understanding and personal development. Not to mention that he came back out! How many of you would do that? No, i suspect you'd all cry all the way back to your mom's basement. Hrrmph.

/goes back to my basement
//grabs box of tissues on the way
///not really

2005-07-27 12:50:06 PM
Boo hoo...

2005-07-27 12:51:19 PM
