Young models on the billboard have been instructed to create an illusion of a big party 24 hours a day.

Hah! No thanks.

2005-07-20 03:57:19 AM
how is that out of ideas?

2005-07-20 03:58:08 AM

2005-07-20 04:11:49 AM
It wont be that good of a party or they'd all get sloppy drunk and fall off.

Was just trying to sign up for total fark, but the "New FARK" - email "route" crap attempting to get into my "Client", along with go.fark.com being down stopped me.

2005-07-20 04:16:28 AM
here is the website about the billboard:

http://www.ckonebillboard.com

not very rich content, much like the fragrance,

CK One smells awful.

Another live billboard... Dunno where this one was, (somewhere in Asia obviously):

Nah, I saw someone do this in London ages ago. It was only for a short time, however.

Can't remember what it was for, so it can't have had much of an impact on me.

I imagine it's a pretty demoralising job, though....

2005-07-20 04:29:16 AM
So having a new (ok, relatively new) idea is being "out of ideas"? interesting...

2005-07-20 04:31:36 AM
anyone else having problems with go.fark.com?

2005-07-20 04:32:50 AM
Scopa: anyone else having problems with go.fark.com?

Seems to be down.

2005-07-20 04:34:45 AM

shutuppaul: Nah, I saw someone do this in London ages ago.

The article says that it's the first one in NYC, not that the NYC one is the first one... headline is confusing though.

I hate life.

'Advertising' and 'spiffy' in the same line?!? submitter works for marketing company obviously?

mo_fish

what is this go.fark.com?

It is used to redirect to the linked story. It is how Fark keeps track of how many times a link was clicked.

And it is down.

Every dumb radio station in the country with a billboard has pulled this stunt. Usually it's a sit in for a fund raiser for something or other.

Oxymoron would be the word you're looking for.

Wow, the Blade Runner future is now. We may not have the flying cars or the Daryl Hannah basic pleasure model but dammit we have 3D animated billboards. Spiffy. Spiffy indeed.

Dear Madison Avenue,

Please die.

Your Friend,
The Human Race

Mugato

Look on the bright side, we don't have homicidal Rutger Hauers running around.

2005-07-20 08:07:21 AM
When I grow up, I want to be a billboard.

2005-07-20 08:14:42 AM
Models ... told not to drink on the billboard or perform risque behavior

Nothing worth seeing

Evil: Look on the bright side, we don't have homicidal Rutger Hauers running around.

Yes we do, but right now he's an Iraqi

2005-07-20 08:38:43 AM
I don't know, I could use a homicidal Rutger Hauer to do my bidding. But not the old bloated Batman Begins Hauer, only Ladyhawke or better.

Btw... the same company doing this ad, Unilever, is the same company that sells Fred Durst's diarrhea in a spray can... you know the one... Axe body spray. So you know they wouldn't just stoop to any level.

It says "Jyounetsu wo seisusha ga GAME wo seisu."

My horrible translation of that would be "He who commands the passion, commands the game."

/cool billboard btw.

First live billboard?

So then that one that some airline did showing a cross-section of a fuselage with actors playing passengers on a real flight wasn't live?

2005-07-20 09:27:11 AM
That's the stupidest thing i've ever seen.
Too bad I cant use adblock for real life.

"Advertising agencies out of ideas"

Oh, I dunno... sounds like an idea to me. The Asian chick's a little hottie, too.

"Unilever Cosmetics International is the New York-based manufacturer of fragrances for Calvin Klein, Vera Wang..."

huhhhuhhhh... they said "wang"... huhhhnnnhuhhh.

2005-07-20 09:30:57 AM
CK One smells awful.

You should smell CK Two.

2005-07-20 09:33:10 AM
Damn...their billboard is bigger than my apartment. I should look into getting a stint there.

For anyone not in the know the past week has been quite hot & humid here in NYC. Gotta suck to live in scaffolding (sp?) all day.

2005-07-20 09:37:21 AM
I saw this yesterday walking to work. Some of the chicks were HOT.

2005-07-20 09:38:40 AM
If it's anything like some NYC gatherings I've been to, some drunk guy will be peeing off the balcony at some point in the evening.

2005-07-20 09:40:45 AM
"It is used to redirect to the linked story. It is how Fark keeps track of how many times a link was clicked.

again. For the 17 billionth time in the last couple weeks.

RE: So then that one that some airline did showing a cross-section of a fuselage with actors playing passengers on a real flight wasn't live?

I forget the airline but there was indeed another live billboard in NYC about 7 -8 years ago across from the Port Authority. You could sign-up and become one of the "passengers". It was there for about 10 days and was actually pretty cool!

2005-07-20 10:03:38 AM
Please people, only throw rotten tomatos at there little trust fund shiats.

Those guys on the Adidias billboard, them being all the way up there gave me a sense of vertigo just look at it! Excuse, I think I need to throw up!

2005-07-20 10:23:00 AM
Submitter is out of ideas

2005-07-20 10:29:58 AM
Screw the rules. I want to see them do live ads for Trojans!

2005-07-20 10:31:50 AM
Not even the first time New York has had a live billboard. There was a furniture company that put up actual pieces of furniture (bed, recliner, dining table, etc.) on different boards, and had real people sitting or sleeping in them. Headlines were something like, "Makes any space more livable" (or intimate, or comfortable, depending on the piece of furniture).

2005-07-20 10:36:17 AM
I smell a SITCOM!!!
(at work, unable to screencap family guy refrence, bows head in shame.)

2005-07-20 10:41:46 AM

They're creating jobs!

2005-07-20 10:51:10 AM
Is this really any different from the guy in the Oven Mitt costume in front of Arby's?
/I guess it is.
