you got me all wrong. most american women have really bad body images when its not at all warranted. i'm just saying that if they got a look at some of real messes out there, they'd feel better about their own bodies.

Most American women really do have bad body images. And they strive for bodies that the majority of men wouldn't even find that attractive in real life.

When I was in high school I was a pretty thin girl, 5'6" and 130 lbs, but I thought I was hideously overweight. Now that I'm older (and a little heavier) I look at naked pictures that I'd sent to my husband of me just after high school and I'm amazed by how perfect my body was.

I find it funny that I'm more self assured now, a good 30 lbs above where I'd want to be. Realizing that how I act, and react, and feel in bed is more important to my sexiness than how I look has played a monumental role in this. Realizing that my husband will love me regardless of what I look like has also helped. These women need to realize they aren't failures if they don't look like movie stars...

But the federation said a poll it commissioned from a mainstream media outlet found nearly 70 percent of those surveyed said they would sunbath nude if everyone else did it. More than 80 percent said nudism was not erotic, but natural.

I would love to see these numbers if the survey was taken in the U.S. (it was taken in Italy). I'm going to guess they'd be a good 50 percent lower.

Strange how we have had such a cultural divergence in this regard, eh?

My wife is the same way. Pics of herself from when we first me show her now she was pretty much spot-on, although at the time she complained constantly, wasn't comfortable being seen nude because she thought she'd look fat, etc.

My 11-year old girl think Lindsey Lohan was "chubby" before her nasty weight loss. Her parent's didnt' teach her that, but society seems to be enforcing the Twiggy concept more than ever.

Many people are funny about this. You never know what is causing the other person to be aroused if everyone is naked. Someone could be excited about the big gal over there, or the anorexic looking one.

And what is so wrong about getting aroused in the first place? It's perfectly natural and perfectly healthy. In other news, articles like this make me happy. I really wish the rest of the world could share this European mentality when it comes to nudity. I can't imagine how something as natural and beautiful as the human body can be considered shameful and disgusting....and that showing it could be considered against the law.

My husband and I got in a fight yesterday...he was upset because the tanktop I was wearing fell too far down and he could see my nipples. He told me that he, unlike me, recognizes that in America nudity is considered inappropriate and that he doesn't want me showing parts of my breasts because he doesn't want me to a.) offend someone (which I consider unlikely) or b.) turn someone on (which, while very possible, isn't a good enough reason for me to feel like I need to maintain an absurd level of modesty.)

If everyone else took that stance then this wouldn't be an issue. The problem lies with the people that get offended by it, then they make the clothing rules and enforce them on people who didn't have a problem with it in the first place. :-(

My stance is, if you don't like it, don't look, or go to places where nudity will exist. Kinda like religion or abortion, if you don't like religion then don't practice it, and if you don't like abortion then don't have one. But I digress...
