A Saudi woman was executed in the Muslim holy city of Mecca today, for stabbing to death another woman, the interior ministry said. The ministry said Noura bint Salman al-Faidi stabbed Dalal bint Abdullah al-Faidi several times with a knife and then poured petrol over her body and set it on fire.

Saudi Arabia, which implements strict Islamic Sharia law, executes convicted murderers, rapists and drug traffickers, usually by public beheading with a sword. Women are either beheaded or killed by a firing squad.
