Is he a friend of the guy from this thread? (Note both stories are from western suburbs of Boston.)

Down to the SERIAL NUMBER? That's some detail work.....I'm telling you.

Dipshiat.

Must either be a hell of a big tattoo, or an incredibly skilled tattoo artist.

The only thing that should be tatooed on your body is your blood type, allergies, and universal indentication number, when that comes into effect.

2005-07-12 12:08:19 PM
And it was a .380 of all things. Is that really something to be that proud of? Was there some kind of sentimental value or something?

2005-07-12 12:09:28 PM
There is nothing... and I mean NOTHING... that brightens my day more than stupid criminal stories. It is quite staggering just how functionally retarded some of these losers are.

Wow... serial number? Really? Wow...

2005-07-12 12:10:21 PM
He should thank the police. This clearly was not going to end well, something like "teenager now a eunuch after accident with firearm".

2005-07-12 12:15:08 PM
Framingham Police said he ran and hid in the basement, where he was found and arrested... In the basement, they found two sawed-off shotguns as well as a .380 caliber pistol.

Way to go, moran! You led the cops right to your illegal weapons. The police should have just let him go, and then followed him as he hid at the next scene of criminal activity.

Excellent use of the DUMBASS tag.

2005-07-12 12:17:30 PM
...he got the serial number tattooed on his hip?!

that kind of detailed work on a tattoo is expensive too. He paid good money to get himself caught.

2005-07-12 12:19:53 PM
Not for nothing, but anyone with a tattoo of a sawed off shotgun (includin SN) should just be put away...maybe to a mental hospital.

2005-07-12 12:22:01 PM
Well it at least allows him to use a really bad bad line. . . "Hey babe, wanna see my gun? It's right here in my pants." . . .

/sounded better in my head

2005-07-12 12:22:46 PM
Wait I'm confused. Had the serial number tattoo'd on him, but managed to file it off...and that's a match?

/still a dumbfark

2005-07-12 12:23:39 PM
"I've never, never seen something like this," said Framingham Deputy Police Chief Craig Davis at the time of the arrest. "This is like the world's dumbest criminal. You don't see that every day."

Isn't this considered slander?
Also, what were they doing to the suspect for them to find a tatoo on his hip?

/Never been arrested, I wouldn't know.

Also wanted for questioning.....

2005-07-12 12:26:50 PM
Police said Breakspear originally denied the guns belonged to him. He said the basement was open to everyone in the building and could have belonged to anyone.

Wait, let me get this straight... He loves this gun so much, he gets a tattoo of it. Then he leaves it in an open area for any resident to swipe? MORAN!

2005-07-12 12:27:29 PM
There are ways to get the serial number off of a firearm even after it's been filed off. Stamping the number stresses the metal, and there are ways of seeing the stress points and reading the number.

2005-07-12 12:27:35 PM
He forgot to have a tatoo of himself taking a dump in a prison cell toilet while his bunkmate watched.

2005-07-12 12:28:52 PM
S/N is on multiple parts of the gun... well the good guns anyway.... Cheap POS guns might have the S/N on one part.

He had more than one gun. Maybe a different gun's number was filed off. They can use acid etching to recover the serial number but probably wouldn't have had time between the arrest and the story.

I loved the story a few years ago of a guy who robbed a bank and wrote the holdup note on the back of one of his Mom's deposit slips... He did scratch out her name, of course... But left the handy magnetic encoded bar at the bottom with her account number untouched... Even more handy was that he still lived with his Mom (in his twenties I seem to recall)...

The cops went over to his Mom's house and found him. The cash was still in the bank bag, hidden oh so carefully under the cusions of the living room couch... Yeah, like cops would never check the couch...

The deputies, though, saw what appeared to be gun parts during the arrest, and informed the Framingham Police, who obtained a warrant.

Hmm! So the shotgun in question wasn't assembled. I'd like to see a followup on this article. The prosecutor might have a hard time proving that he possessed a sawed off shotgun if nobody observed the barrel assembly attached to the receiver. The possession of a short barrel alone is not illegal. Of course this guy is facing a hit parade of charges. He's going to spend some time in the clinker, whether they nail him for an NFA violation or not.

2005-07-12 12:33:40 PM
Using a Johnny Cochran style train of though here...

Isn't this still just circumstantial (spelling?) evidence? Could this proof of ownership really be the only thing needed? If that's the case I'm going to get a Porsche tattooed on my rump and have the right vin # added and sue the dealer for my new sports car!

2005-07-12 12:33:46 PM
Props to the tattoo artist though.

Saw this on Headlines a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, Headlines from the Tonight Show. AKA the only thing worth watching from the Tonight Show.

(I try and time it just perfectly so that its all I ever see from Leno, from about 11:49-11:55 Monday nights)

2005-07-12 12:35:55 PM
Definitely lock up all the guys smoking a little pot, & make sure they don't have any self-defense toys.

jay leno talked about this story on "headlines" a few weeks ago. its amazing how stupid some people are.

Galland

Ever dis-assemble a shotgun before? It's pretty obvious if it's a sawed off shotgun whether assembled or not. The barrel and part of the stock is sawed off, hence the name "sawed off" shotgun. Now if they were claiming he had an unplugged shotgun or unchoked shotgun while it was in pieces... that would be BS.

2005-07-12 12:46:03 PM
why is it tough to deny owning a gun that you have an exact match of tattooed on your body? circumstantial evidence at best. this guy is probably a gangsta idiot, but at least his ability to replicate letters and numbers far exceeds the submitters

/tatooed?

Wow, that guy must have an easy time getting a job with a tattoo of an AK on his forearm. I noticed he also had a wedding ring too? What woman married this poet???

/nothing against tats or guns but a picture of an assault rifle on your forearm???? WTF??
//Mom and dad must be proud
///Bad Religion is still a great band though..

RE the guy with the AK tattoo--what a ripoff, the safety is on! Also it looks pretty cheesy because there's some errors in the picture, but that's for us gun nuts to notice.

chiablo Ha, Slander you say? What color is the sky again?

upon further examination, the intense "sausaging" of those fingers make it hard to believe they belong to the same person. you can check the scale on the forearm easily. i would have to say that the married hand in question belongs to a 4.5'-5' obese female hog who has their hand wrapped around the arm of "IQ-47"

Yes, but if the barrel isn't attached to the receiver you aren't in possession of a short barreled shotgun. One can go to a gun store and buy 12" shotgun barrels all day long. Doing so doesn't put one in violation of the NFA. There is a thing called constructive possession that the jackboots have used in a desperate attempt nail someone they want really bad, but I'm not clear on how and when they try to apply it to a case.

I know they don't like people who deface serial numbers at all. They'll surely nail him on that charge.

That's the first thing I thought. Who in the hell would hire anyone with tattoo's this prominent? I worked for a manufacturing company once, and people would come in and apply for jobs with tattoos on their face and their neck.

/nothing against tats, just be able to cover 'em

Tattoos can also be cool. As well as incriminating.

2005-07-12 12:58:04 PM
For everyone saying that the numbers where of the filed off shotgun, you must not of understood the article (maybe I'm not reading it right) but it says that the pistol was the one tatoo'd on him no the shotgun.

Still an idiot for doing something like that.

2005-07-12 12:58:46 PM
OnlyLivingWitness, squeky

That's not an AK, it's a Gallil. Israeli rifle based on the AK and chambered for 5.56 NATO.

A man owned explosives. He also owned blasting caps. The cops said since he could put them both together he had an "infernal machine", defined as a "device for endangering life or doing unusual damage to property, or both, by fire or explosion." The Massachusetts Appeals Court eventually disagreed, noting that by the prosecutor's logic any farmer who stored both fertilizer and oil would be equally guilty.

SORRY

neither a Gallil OR an AK,

It is a VALMET from Finland.

M76 7.62x39.

Look at the curve of the magazine and the details of the charger-handle.Also,front and rear sights.

Galland: Hmm! So the shotgun in question wasn't assembled.

RTFA. They found two shotguns plus the .380 during the search which was instigated when they spotted gun parts.

And as TNel pointed out the tattoo was of the handgun and he only has one charge of removing the serial number but three firearms plus the parts.

I did read the article and I never said they didn't find other guns in his possession. RTFT ;)
