OK, everybody, time to get the old ECW chant going for the idiot Neo-Cons who think their leader and his cronies can do no wrong:

YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP! YOU FARKED UP!

Now, when you fire Rove's ass, make sure you also fire his idiot boss who let him pull that BS in the first place...

I actually saw this about a week ago in Google news. I find it interesting that it actually took this long to make some sort of wide attention... Maybe the cover up didn't work after all.

In 50-75 years or so, history will look back at the George W. Bush administration as one of the most damaging entities to ever hold power in the United States.

The depths of their corruption will be exposed over many many years.

... and the sad thing is, voting for Kerry probably wouldn't have been much better.

dragon927: Karl Rove = douchebag

Discuss.

No, that pretty much sums it up, dragon. Good job. Right to the point, clearly stating the obvious, no real need to discuss. Kudos to you.

I hope to hear that Rove is viciously raped in prison on a regular basis.

"Fat-Ass...oh, Faaaat-Ass. Talk to me, boy. I know you're in there. I can hear you breathin'. Now don't you listen to these nitwits, hear? This ain't such a bad place. I'll introduce you around, make you feel right at home. I know some big ol' bull queers who'd love to make your acquaintance...especially that big white mushy butt of yours..."

So, you think our undercover agents walk around advertising that they are undercover agents? Her cover was the analyst job. It's not that hard to understand. She worked as an analyst while secretly (hence the "undercover" bit) working as an agent.

Except you don't establish a CIA cover by pretending to be W the CIA. The real circumstance was that she had been a field agent and moved to analysis because it was supected that she had been blown as an agent, thats why this isn't as huge a deal as it's being made out to be. Yes it was still wrong to confirm her as an agent but it isn't like broadcasting the name of an agent in-country and putting their life in danger. This was just a violation of intelligence protocol.

To people like ZAZ and digitalstrange, this is what BUSH had to say about it. So ya'll need to STFU!

Would everyone on both sides shut the hell up about Clinton? How does Clinton have anything to do with this?

Because he got a blowjob from Plame.

2005-07-10 09:49:03 AM
i'm still not quite getting exactly how Rove leaked Plame's identity as a covert agent.

but after reading the story a few times, here's my best guess:

Rove told Cooper that Wilson's wife authorized his trip to Niger. i'm betting that a mere analyst couldn't authorize a factfinding mission to another country entirely... but a covert agent could.

the fact that Valerie was Wilson's wife certainly wasn't secret, but her ability to authorize Wilson's Niger trip was a secret. Rove didn't actually even have to say her name at all.

whatcha think? tinfoil or probably true?

"Try reading the article that newsamericanow was talking about. you'll find it on newsweek.com"

Had a brainlock, didn't think to go to Newsweek site, although there should be a link to that story, and now Arianna Huffington's (kinka lame) blog.

But, like I said, last week, something similar was posted on Fark, and there was no news. Hopefully, with the Newsweek story, it'll break wide open.

But even still, best case scenario: Rove resigns. Too little too late, as Bush has already won his second term, and will be appointing at least one Supreme court judge. The damage has already been done.

And besides, if Ollie North and G Gordon Liddy have bounced back to land on their feet, how bad do you think Rove is gonna have it ?

Clearly, Rove did not approve those remarks.

2005-07-10 09:51:19 AM
As I understand it, even if Rove did intentionally give Plame's identity to Cooper and told him that she worked at the CIA, that doesn't prove he knew she was an undercover agent at the CIA, which you have to prove to convict under the statute everyone is talking about here. I guess the issue then is whether Rove knew she was undercover. Anyone know what the statute in question is?

So? as you just quote "if" he broke a law. He didn't. As someone else noted the people who wrote the law you folks are claiming he broke are saying that he didn't do so. What he did was sleazy but not illegal.Rove will likely lose his job, no suprise. But nothing else will come of it.

Everyone keeps saying "Clinton lied and that was the crime."
But Rove also adamantly insisted to the FBI that "he was not the administration official who leaked the information"

Sounds like a lie to me and that is a crime.

42% of people want Bush impeached

No, 42% of people would support "impeachment proceedings" (which doesn't mean the same as "removal from office" to everyone who answered the question) IF "it is found the President misled the nation about his reasons for going to war with Iraq." Since most of the polled people don't believe, like liberal Farkers do, that the Iraq war was really part of a plot to raise Halliburton's share price, there's a long way to go to reach the condition for that 42% figure to be real.

So explain to me why we have a 2 year federal investigation into the source of the CIA leak?

Why an investigation? Political pressure combined with the possibility that a law was broken.

Why two years? Two years is long, but not extraordinary. It took a year for the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts to get a perjury indictment against Thomas Finneran even though it was a straightforward case.

How could GWB, such a moral and religious man have such a no good guy working for him? I just don't understand. I mean GWB is very rich and says God often. That means he is a good guy and would never have such bad people working for him.

Why, GWB is also a very open a honest feller. He often has interviews and is never shielded from the American people.

Why, GWB is helping the average American and he is good.

Too bad the libs did not have this before the election.

Its a non-issue anyway.

Remember when Clinton gave military secrets to the Chinese?

If this is real, isn't it VERY bad? I still remember where I was standing the first time I heard the name Monica Lewinsky.

And thinking, "so, he lied about getting a blowjob..."

and the Conservatives saying, "yes...but, he lied to a federal grand jury" or some such thing...

and....oh you know the rest...

Wow. Just. Wow.

p.s. How can you dismiss knowledge on the part of the President of the United States? It's Rove, for chrissakes

2005-07-10 10:05:25 AM
unfortunately, Rove's lawyer said that Karl did not "knowingly" reveal Plame as a CIA source.

It all hinges on that wording.

(sorry, no link heard on the TeeVee news..."Countdown" actually)

2005-07-10 10:06:18 AM
I have been opposed to this administration since its inception so me minimizing this story is somewhat ironic. I think Whaledawg made a good point about the Intelligence Identities Protection Act of 1982. Rove indeed did reveal Plames identity, but the intent as I see it was not to endanger her or aid the enemy as would be required for a fully treasonous act; the goal was to harm, silence, and discredit ambassador Wilson (who had recently rebunked the whole Nigerian yellow-cake trade) through his wife.

Is what Rove did heinously slimy and low ? Indeed. But did Rove intend to jeapardize Plame's life? I doubt it and they cant really prove it. If we insist on pursuing this to the end it will be fruitless. There are so many other political crimes and failures of leadership that are of much , much graver concern than this issue. I think every investigative reporter investigating the shennanigans of the last election was either paid off by Diebold, shot, or in Gitmo (half-joking).

/Shouldn't a celebrity trial captivate the public about now ?
