Oh, man! For the local July 4th parade in Greeley, CO, they herd 100+ longhorn steers down the city streets at the start of the parade. The barriers that keep the steers on the street? The people standing on the side of the road.

I'm just waiting for the news about a firecracker that starts a stampede and ends that parade practice.

Now you decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

Haha, this is actually the first time I've been tempted to post lyrics in a thread. Glad someone took care of that for me :)

"The animals were wild, and moving them poses risks, he said, but added similar drives in 1987 and 2000 were complete successes."

wow, decades of success...what? oh, only 2 years, separated by over 10 years....okay... great then. good job boys.

Wild Horses
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady you know who I am
You know I can't let you slide through my hands

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

I watched you suffer a dull aching pain
Now you decided to show me the same
No sweeping exits or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie
I have my freedom but I don't have much time
Faith has been broken, tears must be cried
Let's do some living after we die

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them some day

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them some day

STICKY FINGERS

The trick is, just post that little bit, something people know and can read quckly and snicker as they're scrolling down. There's no point in going whole hog, a la balls-out, "no readers" Phil Herup, which is not only way over the top, but even includes, what Stones album the song came from.

No one, but no one, gives a shiat about that kind of detail, and no one reads it. Hit the topic lightly, as though testing heated milk you're going to give to a baby. Use your elbow, your pinky, or don't post it at all.

Ooooh I want to be as cool as you. You're so subtle and sharp.

Just a verse, with no chorus. So, in the know.

I just right clicked it off some lyrics website. Took 30 secs.

Douchebag.

That's just as bad as the asshats who ride the horses down that steep hill (can't remember what country), and horses die during this race every year.

/classy.

As I said. And your point?

2005-07-05 09:14:06 PM
There were twenty cowboys there to tend after 200 wild horses...unfortunately, eighteen of those cowboys were rich CEO asshats who paid 15 grand to be there.

Typical Calgary.

It would be cool to watch cowboys ride a horse off a bridge and down a raging stream.

However, a chuckwagon tipped, leaving the driver with an injured groin.

He must have been laying on the floor... those chuckwagons are pretty small... I mean they come out of dog food bags and race around your kitchen, but they're still small...

For Canadian Content, I bring you:

Wild Horses - Gino Vanelli

As the sun goes down on the arizona plain
And the wind whistles by like a runaway train
Hey hey hey its a beautiful thing
Well its me and you and a flatbed truck
My heart kicking over like a whitetail buck
Hey hey hey in the middle of spring

You can cut me deep
You can cut me down
You can cut me loose
Dont you know its okay
You can kick and scream
You can slap my face
You can set my wheels on a high speed chase
Hey no matter what you do

Wild horses could not drag me away from you
Wild horses could not drag me away from you

As the sky falls down from the midnight blue
Spittin like bullets on a hot tin roof
Hey hey hey its a beautiful sound
Well its me and you in a flatbed truck
In a foot of mud just my luck
Hey hey hey a hundred miles out of town

You can call me a fool
You can call me blind
You can call it quits
Cant hear a word you say
Cause if I had you once
Im gonna have you twice
Im gonna follow my heart instead of good advice
Hey no matter what you do

Wild horses could not drag me away from you
Wild horses could not drag me away from you

One more wild horses song clip...

Wild horses keep draggin' me away
And I'll lose more than I'm gonna win someday
Wild horses just stay wild
And her heart is all I break
Wild horses keep draggin' me away

Horses have one of the highest body mass to small brain size ratio around. Intelligence right up there with turkeys. Unbelievably high maintenance. If women would just buy vibrators instead of getting their jollies via a saddle, we could let the whole species (horses not women) die out.

2005-07-05 10:55:59 PM
Unbelievable dumbass morons.

Nice "Stampede" you have there, you neolithic assholes.

Perhaps a nice bake sale instead.

/evolution isn't that hard.

2005-07-05 11:03:06 PM
This is a real tragedy. Hopefully better cautions will be taken with any future endeavours.

However, the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, the Calgary Stampede, starts Friday, and I am as excited as a little cowpoke.

No one threw those dumb things off the bridge, they jumped. Whether or not the Calgary Stampede is a worthwhile enterprise, one thing remains certain:

Animals are farking stupid.

Tell your "evolution is easy" story to the horses...they're the ones that jumped off a bridge. It looks to me like some additional natural selection would do them good.

/only half serious, precautions should have been taken
//still, animals are dumb.

2005-07-05 11:48:33 PM
Not the cowboys fault at all, horses get spooked and they do stupid things. If you are going to blame anything blame the train that spooked them.

That said bring on the Stampede. I can't wait to skip work all week without the help of Fark. Bring on the free beer, free food, and hot cowgirls in wranglers :)

they werent wild horses, it was rodeo stock , i challenge anyone to be able to herd 200 wild horses

2005-07-06 12:09:26 AM
I'm not a fan of the Stampede, but they herded what was left of those 200 horses down my street and even I thought it was pretty cool to see. Mind you as I was watching them go by, I was thinking that there's serious potential of this being a major fark up.

BTW they don't do this every year, it's the third time they did it and most likely the last.

2005-07-06 12:21:34 AM
They probably won't do that again because these horses aren't cheap to feed for 355 days a year for 10 days of show. Animal rights activists can go piss up a rope. If it weren't for the Stampede there wouldn't be a need for these horses and they would be some dog's dinner or in a vietnamese supermarket.

God, why don't you guys get a room?

Direct instructions on how to do anything is ALWAYS up for the telling on FARK. Where the F did you come from, anyway? Since neither you nor "Phil" has the balls to post anything more than "none", "none" and "nothing" in your pathetic profiles, and haven't shown an ounce of wit as far as I've noticed, guess what? You have to wear the cadet uniform during all the practices until the first big show.

Welcome to Fark, and begin your adjustment. This isn't your high school chatroom shiat, so adjust to it and STFU.

So that's the reasoning behind the headlines on the Sun as I walk past the newspaper boxes...

living life no TV, no phone, no internet and no money makes me not care so much I guess.

(Viva Switchbox, for those wondering how I post with no internet)
