Hey, if you can start a war over it, why not rob a bank?

2005-07-05 10:04:01 AM
Bush has been using the "9/11" defense since...well...9/11.

2005-07-05 10:16:24 AM
yeah, the strees of 9/11 made me wonder aimlessly and forced me to grope female co-eds

2005-07-05 10:20:54 AM
9/11 also allegedly caused Quest Communication to charge us $4,500 in long distance phone bills but we managed to convince them of the error of their ways.

2005-07-05 11:22:45 AM
A little more accurately, the lawyer is stating that stress from personally witnessing the attacks may have affected him mentally, which may be grounds for reducing the sentence.

Who knows- if he really was right on the scene, he may have come a bit more unglued than the average joe. Still worthy of jail time, but I know some people who went kind of "unbalanced" after witnessing some real horrors.

2005-07-05 12:40:50 PM
I guess thats better than using 9/11 to justify you tri-state killing spree.

2005-07-05 12:54:51 PM
that am a dumb reason that nobody have accept

timoteo2: Hey, if you can start a war over it, why not rob a bank?

Seems to me that those who carried out the acts on 9/11 started the war.

Well at least he pled guilty.

It's worked for Bush.

2005-07-05 03:12:47 PM
I blame 9/11 for turning me into an aimless loser. Where's my check?

Got me out of 1.5 days of college. Well everyone at that campus. I blame 9/11 for my alcoholism.

Denise: "I submitted this with a funnier headline:

Now see...that really was a funnier headline! I don't understand the logic behind getting a headline greenlit...but I am pretty sure it has something to do with a small payment of $5.00 per month.

/not that there's anything wrong with that.

I personally thought it was the beginning of the end of the world and was expecting the destruction of the state of liberty, the empire state building, the white house, the capitol, the gateway arch, the sears tower, the space needle, etc etc etc.

Then I chilled out a bit, and a religious friend of mine led a prayer for those who had gathered in front of my dorm room's TV.

Then my first class was cancelled, but my bastard professor of my second class didn't cancel it.

Then I think I cried a little bit. And I hung a bunch of patriotic stuff outside my dorm room door. And I thought "Man, Bush has got to be the unluckiest president in a loooong time."

Then I saw how he handled the aftermath (well, everything post-Afghanistan) and realized that he used the events to make him the luckiest president in a long time. Sick, man. Sick.

2005-07-05 03:22:51 PM
ah, good to see we can still find ways to be shameless.

New Hotness: "I blame 9-11 for my crimes!"
Old and Busted: "Society is to blame for my actions!"

Well, at least they've gotten more specific in their absurd, deplorable finger-pointing.

2005-07-05 03:22:54 PM
this reminds me of that episode of rescue me when lieu goes to meet the 9/11 support group that turns out to be a bunch of pussies who watched it on tv and are attention-whoring.

Didn't RTA yet, but 3 banks is still better than 2 countries.

That's even more lame than the kid in my english class that told the prof he didn't finish his final paper because he was too upset about his brother's death in the towers- she let him off. She happened to see him goofing off at a bar one a few days later, looking perfectly fine, and got suspicious. Somehow she found out that he couldn't possibly have lost his brother in the attacks- BEING AN ONLY CHILD.

She kicked his sleazy ass out of the class.

2005-07-05 03:32:31 PM
I bet a lot of people who lost loved ones on 9/11 would like to knock the hell out of this guy.

Or maybe they're numb to this sort of thing, since bastards have been pulling 9/11 scams since before the smoke cleared, stealing identities and making up fake stories.

2005-07-05 03:34:40 PM
Seems to me that those who carried out the acts on 9/11 started the war.

This is, of course, why the war is being fought in Iraq, a country which had nothing to do with 9/11.

I had far more headlines greenlit when I WASN'T a TFer, than since I got a membership. In fact, I've only had a couple greenlit since starting on TF.

You'd think so, but that doesn't explain the war in Iraq.

i submitted this with better grammar (an?...)

2005-07-05 03:50:20 PM
Well, Bush has been using 9/11 as an excuse for a nation-invading spree for a few years now, so why shouldn't this guy get to use it too?

So how old are you, 18? Just taking a guess from your writing style.
/Punctuation can be your friend.

yup. Paroled after only 4 1/2 years (06/79-01/84) for double murder.

An interesting bit of his confession (Falzon was the interrogating homicide investigator):

"I really lost it that day," White said.
"You can say that again," Falzon answered.
"No. I really lost it. I was on a mission. I wanted four of them."
"Four?" Falzon said.
"Carol Ruth Silver -- she was the biggest snake of the bunch.
"And Willie Brown," White continued. "He was masterminding the whole thing."

Twinkie my ass.

Though I have it on good authority that the garden hose he used blamed it on penis envy...

I really hope the court throws out his excuse and gives him his full jail sentence. It's bad enough that he is trying to not take responsibility for his actions, but to use the deaths of thousands of innocent people to 'justify' his actions is repulsive!!!

I hope someone beats him into a comma in prison!!!

Hell, there are Muslim guys who've never left their villages from Morocco and Indonesia who are convinced that the plight of a few Palestinians is the reason for 100 years of zip in national prestige or industry, and demands worldwide jihad.

Not much difference in nutty cause-effect rationalizations. Except that there are millions of them, and their courts are on their side.

Don't know if this guy's story of 'mental duress' is legit, but in general 'post traumatic stress disorder' is nothing to dismiss and/or laugh about.

I did know someone who died in the WTC, along with having had one of my college roommates and his wife both survive it. For about 48 hours during the aftermath, I didn't know if they had survived or not. I did nothing but drink during that time, and I had never been a drinker before.

I haven't robbed any banks, but my life has reached a low point in part due to the effect of 9/11. Strangely, when I watched the 'shock & awe' attack on Iraq, I thought of the people there and the loved ones of the innocent people getting violently killed, and I cried.

Having witnessed senseless acts of mass violence against people you know and/or love leaves your psyche forever scarred. Some people live in places where that is all they ever know...violence. Not fake movie violence, but the real farking thing. Relentless and psychologically paralyzing.

Soldiers and locals in war zones have experienced this since the beginning of war. Americans, and especially those who were somehow directly exposed to the terror of 9/11, received a powerful dose of 'post traumatic stress' inducing horror during that time. Considering that psychological shock and mental distress is the primary aim of terrorism, it should be no wonder that 9/11 has affected people so strongly.

On the flip side, the U.S. government's initial military bombardment of Iraqi cities dubbed 'Shock & Awe' was aimed in part at doing the same thing as any terrorist attack, causing traumatic stress disorder, fear, and mental collapse on the part of both military and civilian enemies in Iraq and around the world.

There was nothing to blow up in Afghanistan, so our wonderful leaders decided that Iraq would be a nice and easy place to blow sh#t up on a massive scale, declare victory, and strike shock, awe, and fear into the Muslim world and any other potential enemies. Initially, that worked, but since things have not gone as easily as our moron leaders and military planners had hoped, the U.S. is being weakened in both reality and the world's perception of us daily due to the war in Iraq.

Oh well, if 9/11 can cause a previously normal person to become a drunk loser who makes rambling posts on a nerdy internet site like fark, then why not rob banks using the terrorist attack as justification. There were people who looted in the immediate aftermath in Manhattan and other parts of NYC. Same for cities in Iraq after 'Shock & Awe'. People will do crazy things when the world comes crashing down on them, even if it's only on tv and/or in the mind.
