She should probably demand a bit less than what the Russian Mafia charges to throw the case out of court and into a river with cement shoes.

2005-07-04 08:42:37 AM
The fine, fine Russian courts will probably award it to her.

2005-07-04 09:03:19 AM
What's "cheers" in Russian.

I know it dounds like "nice driveway", which I've been jokingly substituting for many years. Now I can't remember what it was supposed to be.

She has to prove damages. I never heard of comets being involved in a horoscope anyway, don't they use planets and constellations for that?

All NASA has to do is show they've actually improved her horoscope, then charge her for part of the comet mission.

This could've been a disaster for the Gemini missions!

She's not a very good astrologist, otherwise she would have known this was going to happen to begin with.

How dare the admins post a duplicate! It's unheard of! It's unfair! We should sue!

What an idiot. The world is full of parasites like this -- we even have a word for the largest suspecies: 'lawyer'.

And all this russian talk made me wonder, is Putin planning to pocket the Rings of Saturn anytime soon ?

I wonder if people will still say that frivolous lawsuits are an exclusivity to the USA

If she wins I'm suing my local paper for telling me I was going to go out on Saturday night when I didnt. I was all dressed up and nowhere to go therefore I deserve 300 million dollars.

P.S. I think DUMBASS would of been a proper tag ;-)

Thats alot of borcht.

In great Britain we have a word for that and you should make a tag for it - "BOLLOCKS" or "BOLOX"!

The sad thing is she'll get her 15 minutes of fame. Either theyll settle out of court or she's going to make the W-list talk show rounds of some sort.

Im going to sue NASA for emotional stress. After seing the movie Armegeddon, I have been so paranoid that the asteroid was going to hit the planet. I sold off all of my assets and spent the money on hookers and whiskey.

Now that its not going to hit, I broke and have herpes. DAMN YOU NASA !

/suing for $20000 million bajillion dollars.

Dos vadonia? I don't know Russian, and even if that's right, I have no idea whether it's spelled correctly.

Someone from NASA was actually asked about this on a morning show today.

i doubt either will happen. especially an out of court settlement, that dumb.

2005-07-04 01:51:39 PM
The lawsuit, that is. Not "cheers" in Russian.

2005-07-04 01:54:52 PM
This month's fortune-telling convention is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

2005-07-04 01:54:59 PM
Her reply was rather flippant and possibly defamatory, so there's another lawsuit, to be sure...

The NASA spokeswoman also justified the $300 million + cost by saying it was less money than blockbuster movies make in a few weeks, and that it was therefore minimal.

Hell, I could sure use $300 mil.

2005-07-04 01:55:07 PM
There's no such thing as bad publicity.

Even if her case gets thrown out or if it proceeds to trial and she loses, she will have shown her potential clients that she takes her work seriously and is on-the-ball to changes in the heavens, so to speak. It's a win-win for her.

Nasa Spokesman: "Stick that $300 mil up Uranus"

Soviet Russia ?

She's really going to freak when we blow up the moon.

"There's no such thing as bad publicity."

Try selling that cliche to Tom Cruise's publicist.

2005-07-04 02:04:32 PM
This should be the least of her worries.

They are going to do WHAT with a comet??

2005-07-04 02:09:29 PM
The glorious road of the drive!

Takitron: pete, meet repeat

ACTUALLY it's not... She initially SAID she would sue NASA if they went through with the Temple 1 mission, all this is really (or SHOULD be) is a followup.

She's got no chance in hell though, last time I checked asteroids aren't even glanced at for horoscopes and whatnot, and how is putting a boo-boo on ONE going to affect her adversely?

2005-07-04 02:12:49 PM
So if her fortune has now changed for the better will she pay NASA?

What's the going rate for "Hey! I'm not going to die this week after all!" ?

One Asstrologer claimed her charts would need updating to reflect the newly discovered planet Sedna. If you were going to apply any logic you might think that any effect that Sedna had would always have been there. The forces in the cosmos didn't change because the insignificant inhabitants of planet 3 just discovered another planet was out there in their solar system.

As Randi says above they welcome chances like this to use news as an excuse for their predictions being wrong. They have an endless need for excuses because they occasionally make predictions that aren't generic enough to be immune to being proved wrong.

2005-07-04 02:15:26 PM
you'd tihnk she'd have seen this coming.

2005-07-04 02:18:11 PM
Whats she suing for? some nasa exec call her horoscope hotline for 20min or something?

2005-07-04 02:24:25 PM
We all know that the planets have nothing to do with our fates. Its obvious from a big book called "The Bible" that jesus has everything to do with it.

/sarcasm, what is that?

I always envision people like this showing up in court, the judge says something like, "Are you serious? Stop wasting my time!"
And then everybody in the courtroom points and laughs at them.

2005-07-04 02:45:42 PM
Lets see,in order toprove her case, she has to prove that astrology is true, and in order to prove it true, she has to prove her "horoscopes" are correct for any person, any point in time, 100%.... BAAHAHHAHAH

2005-07-04 02:58:39 PM
Astrologist?

I've never heard that word used before, and suddenly I see people using it everywhere. What's that about?

/thought it was "astrologer" or "damn fool"

Well, in that case, I'm suing for eleventy billion dollars because that explosion ruined my future tanning. Ignore the fact that I'm Scottish and get sunburned by a shadow.

The forces in the cosmos didn't change because the insignificant inhabitants of planet 3 just discovered another planet was out there in their solar system.

Let's take the logic further. They have to update to include forces from previously undiscovered celestial bodies, indicating they were not properly accounted for before hand. Not everything in the universe has been discovered. Ergo, all astrologers fail to properly account for the forces of the universe. Ergo, all predictions by astrologers are inaccurate. Therefore all astrologers are useless and should be shot on site.

Of course, this begs the question, if little bodies like asteroids influence astrology, what about bullets? They are, after all, orbiting the planet, even if their orbit eventually intersects the body (hits the ground). Why don't they affect astrologers?

Oh right, because it's a load of shiat.

Internal logic 4tw.

For 250000 USD I'll pick up a pretty little gun and "solve" this problem for NASA.

Rule of life nr 1: Don't sue goverment agencies for more meny then it costs to have you killed. :)

2005-07-04 03:02:38 PM
Can I sue her for the burn on my hand I got from spilling hot coffee all over myself when I was laughing so hard reading about her dumb lawsuit?

/always wanted to sue dumb lawsuit-starters like this lady... hey, maybe I have my excuse, finally! (not)

2005-07-04 03:03:30 PM
Sure she ain't 'merican? She sounds 'merican.

2005-07-04 03:05:27 PM
The only reason I put up with astrology in any way is because I'm a Scorpio and stupid girls think that means I'm great in the sack.

By the time they learn the horrible truth it's too late.

I'm almost positive that bullets do affect astrologers.

You know, I wasn't thinking of it in quite the same way, but I prefer your analysis. That made my day.

What an idiot. The world is full of parasites like this -- we even have a word for the largest suspecies: 'lawyer'.
Even more horrifying, the lawyers have started mutating into a super parasite called 'lobbyist'.
