It's a gateway candy. Kids will taste this, and it will lead to cocaine flavored candy, then on to the hard stuff: Ludens.

2005-06-30 09:10:54 AM
I just imagine Ed, Edd and Eddie sitting around eating pot-flavored candies and drinking non-alcoholic beer.

2005-06-30 09:27:29 AM
They keep on stripping our freedoms until we have none.

2005-06-30 09:31:39 AM
but is that legal to block the sale of something based on it's taste. What next, nothing sweet, or is that sour?

2005-06-30 09:55:44 AM
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm pot-flavored candies

2005-06-30 10:19:15 AM
Who would want to use pot for the TASTE?!

Ewww!

2005-06-30 10:20:02 AM
Nothing said regarding the sale of booze filled and flavored candies.

Personally, I love the prozac flavored chicklets.

Always hated Chicago anyway

dad: Where did you learn to light candles like this? Who taught you to use candles?!
kid: From you alright?! I learned it by watching you!

Why on earth would anyone want a room that smelled like herb? So they could sit there and say, "wow, I'm not high at all. This candle is sweet."

/herb enthusiast, not offended by candle ban

2005-06-30 10:22:42 AM
herb enthusiast indeed. No more wake-n-bake for you!

2005-06-30 10:24:07 AM
But can I still lick frogs?

2005-06-30 10:24:27 AM
Is this REALLY that much of a surprise?

2005-06-30 10:24:33 AM
Not that I think these should be banned, but for the love of God, why?

Government intrusion into business. Ain't nothin' like it!

Remember, parents who use candles have children who use candles...or something like that.

New York City councilwoman plans to hold hearings on the candies this summer, and an Atlanta suburb passed a resolution opposing them, which caused merchants there to remove the treats from their shelves.

Meanwhile the homeless are still sleeping and pissing in the doorways.

2005-06-30 10:31:21 AM
Kid should have responded "I tied you off every day since I was two. Where the fark do you think I learned it, dumbass?"

2005-06-30 10:31:48 AM
these need banning:

wretch

Excellent point. Your government at work.

2005-06-30 10:33:00 AM
Does this mean the end of whishkey flavored chocolates, too?

2005-06-30 10:36:45 AM
So...do you get munchies and want more candy afterward?

2005-06-30 10:36:50 AM
WTF? First, who really likes the taste? Second WTF? It's farkin' sugar and hemp oil. Oh my god! Kids will next start drinking furniture polish that has hemp oil in it!

/one tin-foil hat please.

These self rightious conservative asshats are really starting to get on my nerves. I remember in the 70's it was Anita Bryant and her ilk trying to ruin the careers gay teachers.
These peple need to STFU and do some work on the real issues.
Dammit all
rant over

Hey meester wanna buy a lollipop?

2005-06-30 10:38:38 AM
I had a friend who tried these lollipops.

Now he snorts Lik-M-Aid.

Chicago is also now the most taxed city in the USA, they raised the sales tax to a whopping 9%.

People will be going to the burbs to buy thier pot flavored candy anyway. Raising taxes to this extent may very well reduce the tax collections.

Those are the most effective lozanges on earth. I think they may have saved my life in PLDC [winter in PA]. Yes. They do taste like @55.

I now have another reason to give when people ask me why I moved from Chicago to Europe.
They should ban Root Beer from being served or sold anywhere in Illinois... Kids may associate the "Beer" with the real thing and the next thing you know Budweiser replaces Juice boxes in the ol' school lunch.

Stop the insanity!

Glad its quitin time over here in Europe... need to head off to my local "coffee shop" now for some herb.... ahhhhhhhhh freedom.

2005-06-30 10:41:15 AM
9%??? They better be getting free healthcare.

2005-06-30 10:41:22 AM
"There are 78 million pot smokers out there (in the United States) ..."

c'mon people, VOTE!

2005-06-30 10:41:49 AM
whydoIlovethevikings' post is operating on too many different levels. A+. ( Donald_McRonald; it was intentional)

Next they'll go after root beer in glass bottles because it looks like real beer. From 100 yards away. Damn you A&W for corrupting our youth!

/Wassup!

2005-06-30 10:42:43 AM
Just go buy yourself some Brach's and throw them in the catch-bag the next time you mow the grass. When done, remove and enjoy! Blech

I assume the people of Chicago had some say in this, no? I mean, it was voted in as a new law. If that many people want to ban the candy, well, that's your democracy at work. ???

2005-06-30 10:42:45 AM
L8knight beat me to it.

DAMN you, A&W!!!

2005-06-30 10:43:17 AM
L8knight:

I now have another reason to give when people ask me why I moved from Chicago to Europe.

If things keep heading in this direction there will be an exodus en masse from here, especially if the draft is brought back in order to invade Iran. All that will be left to fight their stupid battles will be rich kids and homeless people.

These self rightious conservative asshats are really starting to get on my nerves.

I'm curious smeegle, how may of the Chicago city council are conservative Republicans. I always thought of Chicago as a Democrat/Union stronghold, am I wrong?

The handful of times I've smoked pot in my life I could barely put sentences together, much less get to a polling place and figure out a butterfly ballot.

I guess you can build a functioning tolerance, but it just made me sleepy.

2005-06-30 10:44:56 AM
Um, can we please get to the smoking ban first? Thanks.

2005-06-30 10:46:25 AM
smeegle

We'll leave the light on for ya'

Just save up some money for gas, its $5.75/gallon over here :( (there is always a downside ya' know)

He didn't say "Republican", he said "conservative". You can be a conservative Democrat, which may or may not be the case with the guy they quoted in the article. But anyone who thinks that candy with hemp oil is a gateway to the real thing is pretty conservative, regardless of party.

Try thinking outside of the left/right box next time.

2005-06-30 10:47:51 AM

NASTIEST... CANDY... EVAR!!!!

/taste like 100yr old gummy bears minus ANY flavor

2005-06-30 10:48:25 AM
Tyee: Chicago as a Democrat/Union stronghold, am I wrong?

I don't kow, it used to be, the Chicago guy is Alderman Edward Burke, who sponsored the measure. The article was also talking about NY City Council member and Atlanta both places somewhat Democratic.
This action however, is rather typical behavior of our present style of leadership all around.

2005-06-30 10:49:09 AM
How does one go about banning a flavour?
Can that be done with colour as well?

2005-06-30 10:49:09 AM
Um, am I the only one here that's actualy tasted hemp oil? It tastes like nuts, not weed. So these politicians are either lying, or incompetent.

2005-06-30 10:49:16 AM
Man... and there I was going to start marketting kettle flavored candy...

Um, am I the only one here who laughed at that? ;)

2005-06-30 10:52:28 AM
OK I'll get out of the box, other than Zell Miller give me an example. If possible in Chicago. May be the box fits.

2005-06-30 10:52:30 AM
Bukharin: Can that be done with colour as well?

That was done up until the late 60's.
Takes a helluva a lot of work to undo a ban on color.

I don't like the tase og beef liver. Can we ban that?

2005-06-30 10:54:23 AM
I'll google Alderman Edward Burke.
