Problem is, no matter how preposterous, it only takes someone like this to say something like this, and unnumerable people will take it as fact.

EmrysX: Your point?

I think that's a copy of a top secret plan found under Saddam's bed... along with a koran, flight manuals, and an unburned passport.

People unwilling to see the Downing Street Memos/Minutes as important or relavent ARE willing to see a mural in Baghdad as the "smoking gun" for Saddam's involvement in Sept 11th?

Ohhhhhh....kay........

Stop shaking. Think about the general attitude of people over the last 4 and half years. This is idiocy as usual.

My point: I don't think Saddam had anything to do with Sept. 11th, but he was obviously so happy about it that he had that painting commisioned.

Am I to believe that:

a) Saddam Hussein was in control of every artists rendering of him ever?

b) If Saddam Hussein commissioned a painting it would look like it was done by someone using their own feces and various plant life nearby?

c) That because someone painted a portrait of Saddam next to the falling towers, it is documentary evidence of a secret connection between Iraq and 9/11?

Has it occurred to you that Saddam's official world statement after 9/11 was to denounce the attack? You do realize that anyone in the Middle East that really hates the US but loved Saddam could have made that picture to show solidarity in an informal way?

I implore you to think about it.

Jezus, lighten up you guys.

No, I don't think Saddam had anything to do with Sept. 11th.

I posted that pic as an amusing troll, not as any kind of argument.

That's supposed to be Sadaam in the painting?

I expect more photorealism from my hand-drawn incriminations.

President Bush said in September 2003 that "We've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the September 11 [attacks]."

I honestly did not know that.

Rush Limbaugh devoted his entire show today to explain how Saddam and Osama were linked.

They can't give it up, because it's the basis for their entire house of cards.

Bush: No Iraq link to 9/11 found

"No, we've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th," Bush said. "What the vice president said was is that he (Saddam) has been involved with al-Qaida.

"And al-Zarqawi, an al-Qaida operative, was in Baghdad. He's the guy that ordered the killing of a U.S. diplomat. ... There's no question that Saddam Hussein had al-Qaida ties."

Most of the administration's public assertions have focused on the man Bush mentioned, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a senior Osama bin Laden associate whom officials have accused of trying to train terrorists in the use of poison for possible attacks in Europe, running a terrorist haven in northern Iraq -- an area outside Saddam's control -- and organizing an attack that killed an American aid executive in Jordan last year.

************************snip**************

The group, however, far from being an ally of Saddam, sought to replace his secular government with an Islamic regime.

A senior intelligence official, who asked not to be identified, said the information linking the group, Ansar al Islam, to Saddam comes "almost exclusively from defectors produced by the Iraqi opposition. They are not uniformly credible."

It all depends on your definition of "involved". If "involved" means having no role in the planning or prior knowledge of the event, than they could be "involved".

But just think. When we elect Congressmen that can add two and two and get five, we reap the extra as profit.

"Iraq was involved in 9/11...because I said so."

This person is responsible for making laws? He should be kicked out of office for making such a statement without backing it up.

I think that picture posted above proves that we were right to invade Iraq. Surely a man of that incredible size was a threat to us all. I doubt that Mothra, or even Godzilla himself could have put a stop to Saddam, had he chosen to rampage through an American city.

Implying it is. Rove & Co. are very good at staying just short of stating a lie.

And they called Clinton Slick Willy. He should be taking notes on this gang of crooks.

Involved means being close business associates with the father of the leader of the terrorist organization.

Really, would it be THAT hard for ANYONE in this administration to stop lying for just a FEW FARKING SECONDS?

Just like the GOP Congressman who had access to videotape that proved Terri Shiavo was not brain dead, right ?

2005-06-29 08:59:09 PM
So where was the evidence during the 9/11 commision? I mean, they said there was no connection between those events and Iraq. Did they not have the same level of clearance as out legislators?

No joke. But at least King Kong is coming in December. Maybe he can defend us from the uber-mecha-Saddam.

Is this like when Dick Durbin ran his mouth about some nebulous FBI report...then compared our prison at Guantanamo to Nazi camps and the Gulag?

Yep, those congressmen have access to plenty of super-duper secret stuff.

2005-06-29 09:00:05 PM
Our lawmakers are farking lunatics, each and every one of which believes a lie is the truth if repeated enough times with conviction.

And we elect them. Funny how that works.

Congress, the Senate, each and every member should be spayed or neutered so they cannot reproduce.
