(Denver Channel)   A new study finds Boston smokes more pot that Boulder. Boulder hippies blame this problem on police pulling weed plants out of public flower boxes. Say they will double their efforts once the 7-11 restocks   (thedenverchannel.com) divider line 178

What an odd map. I never would've figured that all of Colorado would be above the average, never mind the entire western slope would be that high. Learn something new every day.

I don't think this map tells us much. It's more about how much you smoke than how many people smoke with you.

According to the above map, does that mean in Wisconsin we get higher because we have less people smoking our weed than Minnesota?

it can be more addictive than cigarettes, depending on the person, and the environment, etc...

luckily, the side effects are much less harmful to the addict, and the surrounding public, than many other "legal" drugs prescribed by liscened drug pushers...

Since weed is decriminilized in Colorado, people are generally more comfortable with it and are more likely to talk about it.

Lived in a handful of different regions, never seen a change in % of users. However in some places, smoking weed is a closely guarded secret.

2005-06-17 12:31:29 PM
Ya can't tell me it's not mentally/emotionally addictive to SOME people... obviously it's not physically addictive.
I never had a problem with it, but lived with someone who would have just about done anything to get his weed.
I suppose just about anything can be addictive that way, though...

2005-06-17 12:35:31 PM
Instead of asking people whether they smoke pot, you could ask people what fraction of people they know smoke pot and then adjust for skewing due to people's popularity.

I don't get these arguments about one place having better weed. If it's homegrown, the growers are probably growing primo strains because they're no more difficult or expensive to grow. No reason not to anyways. Now they could be curing it improperly or picking it too late (the longer you wait after the prime the more red it gets, looks more impressive but really that just means the thc is bieing converted to other stuff).

I am just speaking from personal experience. I took a trip around North America a couple of years ago visiting friends so I had several opportunties to "sample". Nothing is close to the stuff here at home. But like I said, personal experience.

all the pot I've seen in years has been off of clones, even the organic outdoor stuff has no seeds, due to the cloning off a "mother" plant. The pot clubs here sell clones for $8 ea...

makes it so even a brown thumb can grow great weed...

BTW - my thumb isn't brown, it's concrete grey.

The schools they mention are either yuppie oriented, or private universities. Go to any number of public schools around the US (no matter how conservative), and the number will surely increase. At Texas State (formerly SWT), I would argue that it's in the 60-70% usage range, and pot is the least of the drugs that are popular there.

Now, now, the fact that our GPA's in highschool were a little higher than yours doesn't make us yuppies. Don't be bitter.

This drives me nuts about how there is all this shiate against pot smokers just because its "illegal" but alcohol is prefecty "legal" and how many people die due to drunk driving?

It drives me nuts when people throw quotes around words when they're using them with their literal meanings.

Alcohol is not "legal," it's legal.

Its only legal in some regards. Its not legal if you are under 19 here in my province and its not legal to drive under the influence. Actually, I believe there are stipulations in place where you are thrown out of bars if you are too drunk. That doesn't sound too legal to me. But then again I am nitpicking at your nitpicking.

/doesn't really "care"

So let me get this straight. Nothing's really legal unless there is absolutely no regulation on it? So driving is definitely not legal, nor is going to an R-rated movie. Building a house isn't really legal because you can't build it on someone else's land, or on a cemeteary. Urinating isn't legal, because you can't do it on other people without their consent, etc.

2005-06-17 01:35:29 PM
WTF? Since Marijuana use is illegal, how can they accurately come up with such a statistic?

because it's not illegal to admit to it...you have to actually be caught in possesion of said "drug". At least that's how it works in Vegas. "Internal possession" is BS.

2005-06-17 01:35:37 PM

dude seriously, they were quotes. Now honestly, I was typing away and didn't edit the stupid thing and maybe I would have noticed them and maybe I would have changed them. But I didn't reread and I posted anyways. But seriously, is it really going to bother you that much? Do you have to bring up all this law stuff? Is it making you feel bigger and better then me?

Oh and btw driving is not legal without proper license or registration, otherwise you get a fine because you broke the law. Going to an R-rated movie is not legal if you are underage and not accompanied by an adult, you'll get kicked out. Building a house is not legal without complying with the municipalities building regulations, thats why they have building inspectors. And urinating in public I believe will get you a fine as well.

Its easy to claim things are "legal" :) if you are of age to do them and do them the way they tell you isn't it?

/didn't edit this one either
