daegen:

I agree with you mostly. The problem is that evolution is so poorly defined by most people that no one understands what they are really arguing for or against.

Actually, evolution is very simple and clearly defined:
Natural Selection, Mutations

Natural Selection: The non-random process by which some animals within a species are more capable of surviving and producing viable offspring than others.

Mutation: The introduction of changes in genes through random alterations in an animal's DNA.

Very simple.

I very much agree that animals SHOULD be experimented on if it in any way benefits humanity.Their suffering is of N O consequence whatsoever.

Pain, agony and fear is only relavant to smarter beings.

I also advocate testing on retarded and handicapped people.

Millitary ballistics tests on humans would be most beneficial to us.People of lower mental capacity are worthless as are animals and therefore we should use them in anyway we so desire.

Also,I think the amusement factor would be welcome too.

The agonizing screams of a tortured animal or retard = non-stop laughter for me.

Odd that this was news. They actually have had russian space hardware for years. Displayed side by side with the US stuff. They get a lot of stuff on loan from Russia because they have always been pretty honest about what the score was. They even have some really nice German artifacts pertaining to rocketry.

(The score, for those outside of Kansas, was that the Soviets were taking us to school in space travel. If it hadn't been for a really tragic accident they would have been on the moon long before us.)

Also if you go to the Smithsonian, knock around the air and space museum. Try and count all the items with the tag "On loan from the Kansas Cosmosphere".

Kansas' biggest problem is that these die hard bible-thumpers get into office and waste time with crap like trying to bring back creationism. Those people are stupid enough to think anything they do would survive it's first trip to federal court.

I'll admit I like this place, but some days it's easier to like than others.

Besides, where else can you see some kid looking like an extra from a DMX video, get out of a pick-up truck and hop into a combine harvester?

I wouldn't call it a tragic accident. They're engine technology just wasn't up to par with ours. Whereas the Saturn V booster's first stage had 5 engines, the Soviets couldn't develop individual engines powerful enough. Instead they tried to use 30(!) seperate engines in the N-1's first stage. Coordinating the firing precisely was impossible, and every test launch of the N1 was a catastrophic failure.

Read The Heavens and the Earth; A Political History of the Space Age, by Walter McDougall.

I live in Kansas and I'm trying to keep these nutjobs from spilling over the borders and infecting the rest of the country, but I need more help from you people. Ridicule does seem to be the most effective weapon. It shames reasonable Kansans into voting.

The USSR won the space race. America got to the moon first thanks to the enthusiastic nazi Werner Von Braun and good ol' German know-how, Russia won everything else.

Hey I live in Kansas about 30 minutes from this museum.

You should update your profile to reflect your location then, because more then likely, you're only three hours away. Even myself, living in the big city closest to Hutchinson (Wichita, which has it's own amazing museum), is still an hour away (60 miles to Hutch on K-96 going about 60 to 70 depending on what streach you are on, is about an hour if you forget to exit at YODER).

stolivar: Nice shout out. We also have Boeing and Raytheon (for now at least).

I don't know what hole you're living in, but Boeing was sold to Onex a few months ago.

This space geek plans to haul ass out there in the near future. Live in Missouri. Haven't been there yet. But have ranted many a time against the school board idiots in Kansas.
