It's right next to Khadafi Taffy and Kim Jong's Footlongs.

I'll take two.

Well Handi Mahatma just doesn't have the same ring.

2005-06-17 01:18:38 PM
I thought Mahatma was a title...

2005-06-17 01:18:44 PM
That Gandhi, such a foodie.

2005-06-17 01:19:27 PM
that's just wrong

Gimme a steak... medium rare.

I'll put on Mahatma coat and just go pick it up, then.

Handi Ghandi I banged your Mommy!
Took her out back and slipped her the Salami!
She sang out loud like that old dude Yanni
And she played with my balls like the blind dude Tommy!

Handi Ghandi's Web site also features a line-drawing of Gandhi holding what appears to be an American-style Chinese takeout box.

It's truly a global marketplace... it's too bad they didn't have him wearing a toque and frying up some back bacon.

"He was not a foodie."

Quote of the day.

Starkey: "Matatma was a title"--Bingo, Ringo. First name was Mohandas, if I remember correctly. Mahatma means something like "The Great Souled One".

Bufu

thanks for the clarification, I always equated Mahatma as meaning essentially a saintly person...

BTW - you are the first to pick up on my name. I am the last living Beetle...

The support icon on my new computer is Ghandi holding a telephone.

American style. Heh.

Sounds like these guys need an American-style ass whoopin'.

This thread needs a picture of "Gandhi 2" from UHF.

I think I'll start a Martin Luther King Fried Chicken 'n' Corn Bread chain in Norway. Should be a hit.

The copyrighted site was only partly working on Friday, but Tushar Gandhi said it also included a jingle with a male voice singing, "I am Handi Ghandi, eat my curries".

wow, do all Australian jingle writers have the imagination and subtlty of a brick?

The jingle is classic.

I don't care about the use of his name in a takeout restaurant. What really pisses me off is that they're spelling it as "Ghandi". It's G-A-N-D-H-I, Gandhi, NOT Ghandi. I hate Westerners who mispronounce/misspell his name and make it sound stupid. It's a fairly simple word. Pronounce the d-h as a soft d sound followed by a slight h. Now say it with me: GANDHI.

All right, then.

The tv show "Three of a Kind" had the "Handi Bendi Ghandi" doll years ago.

2005-06-17 01:53:00 PM
The man was a constant "poo pusher."

from what I've read, he used to come up to each one of his "family, (mostly females)" and ask them if they had a "BM" today. If not, he would require them to have an enima (sp?). I guess he was extremely hung up on bowel movements...

weird.

Gandhi's family causing stink

Hmm, somebody had too much vindaloo last night.

2005-06-17 01:55:06 PM
What the thejoyofpi said. Plus, it doesn't rhyme with 'candy'.

/finding UHF vidcaps on GIS is tough

For what it's worth, Toronto has a Gandhi Roti shop (at Queen and Bathurst) complete with a bust of the man himself on the counter... the food there is absolutely amazing too I might add. Can't recall if they serve beef there or not.

(oh, and if you ask for it spicy, it's *spicy*... fair warning)

Here ya' go....

/"hey, baldy!!!"
//no more mister passive resistance.

You pulled that directly from "Bullshiat!".

They never really gave us any reason to believe the guy who was saying all those things about Ghandi though, did they?

They have meat curries on the menu. Wasn't Gandhi a vegetarian?

... seems wrong :)

that is where I heard it!

thanks for reminding me...

I watch so much crap throughout the days, I rarely remember which crappy show I was watching at the time...

'Sounds like Ben Kingsley from the movie Gandhi?' How about 'sounds like Amrish Puri from the movie Gandhi.'

"Kali-Ma Shuk tee daye! sir, may I take your order - I recommend the heart."

2005-06-17 01:58:58 PM
and as far as who was saying it...

I thought it was one of his female "handlers" which was telling the poo story...

I had lunch from this place during the week. Not bad for a chain style take away.

2005-06-17 05:51:12 PM
That logo really IS offensive.

2005-06-17 08:09:45 PM
They could always retaliate by setting up The Don Bradman House of Cheese.

2005-06-17 10:59:06 PM
wow um gotta side with Kali76 on this one. The logo is obviously trying to use Gandhi's image to sell food, and it's rather offensive. What were these guys thinking?

What were these guys thinking?

That if we Americans can get away with an even more offensive logo for 50 years, why can't they?

(This is a real product, btw--click on the pic for their website.)
