I'd love to post a link to the "disassemble" video, but it was on TV (probably the same Daily Show episode that Jovantae saw). Wish I woulda saved it on TiVo.

Trust me. I swear on my eyesight, it's true,

Back in 2001 in a political science class, I had to write a paper on my favorite congressman. I wrote on Bill Frist.

In the last year, I've seen enough crap from this one man to make me angry enough spit bullets.

When/If we have "Fark the Vote 2006," I'll be there to help.

Majority Leader Bill Frist on the Today Show:

LAUER: But when you stood on the floor and you said, She does respond, are you at all worried that you led some senators

FRIST: I never said, She responded. I said I reviewed the court videotapes the same ones the other doctors reviewed and I questioned, Is her diagnosis correct?

Frist on Senate Floor, 3/17/05:

I have looked at the video footage. Based on the footage provided to me, which was part of the facts of the case, she does respond.

Lord_Baull: What's got you guys' panties in a wad? Disassemble is a perfectly cromulent word.

Sure it is, it just has a completely different meaning than the one Bush gave for it.

Maybe you could try following along?

dodahdave:

On the other hand: "It seemed like [Amnesty] based some of their decisions on the word and allegations by ... people who had been trained in some instances to disassemble -- that means not tell the truth."

While I do find this very funny, I do understand how he made the mistake. He mostly likely didn't write the speech and while it's scrolling by on a teleprompter dissemble and disassemble look very similar.

Hmm, this line was good too-

"Their vision is one where a few make the decision for many, and if you don't toe the line, there's serious consequences."

Wow, talk about the pot calling out the kettle.

John McCain or Arlen Specter or Dick Lugar or Chuck Hagel vs. Harry Reid or Bill Richardson or Evan Bayh or Wesley Clark

Any of those potential matchups would be good.

Bill Richardson is just as bad. Man's goal in life is more money and more power. Fark-all to the people as long as they comply with his 'needs'.

/grew up in New Mexico, his "proving" grounds...I'd prefer Pete Domineci.

It's not that he was wrong-he simply lied in order to capitalize on an emotionally-charged issue. The cretin ought to be whipped in the public square for being such a whore.

Be interesting to see how Lush Windbag spins this, and what the regurgitated version of it looks like when the Rightards finally dare touch this thread - but only after their head liar has given them their marching orders.

I popped one of them the other day (Tinian I think) blatantly repeating what Rush had said on his program just minutes before. Of course, we were supposed to believe that these were his own ideas of course.

Listening to Rush is hard, but it is amusing as hell to see his Dittoheads staying away from threads like this until he has shown them how to spin it.

To everyone that is hoping the Christ-Cons are going away, stop dreaming. The South is full of their fanboys, and nobody can control this thing without controlling the South. Frist and Sensennbrenner and Bush can fark it up all they want and it won't matter. Most conservative southerners believe that a vote for a Democrat is a vote for the Devil. They don't even need Diebold anymore.

Translation:

I think it is entirely apropriate to use my medical degree and my status as the majority leader as a soap box so I can publically speculate about the medical conditions of individual Americans in an attempt to sway policy to appease a radical constituency with whom my policital fate rests. If it turns out my speculation is wrong, no harm done, let's just move on.

but...

This won't affect his presidential ambitions one bit. Its 3 years until the next election. The fundies will remember that he stood on the side of Jesus.

The rest of us will be distracted by the next political trick. I feel like the American public is a labrador retriever. The politicians (left and right, though right moreso as of late) see us sniffing around at stuff we shouldn't, then suddenly are like "Here boy! Come here boy! See this stick? Yeah, this cool, smelly stick? Its GAY MARRIAGE!! Go get it, boy!"
::throws stick::
American public chases after unimportant topic, ignores dead bodies it was attempting to dig up, etc...

/how soon 'til the revolution again?

Man has anyone seen Specter lately? His chemo has made him look just like Nosferatu. He won't be running for president and the Repubs wouldn't nominate him if he did (or McCain or Hagel or Lugar for that matter).

They're just still in the process of spinning it. You know they have to get all their stories straight. Either that or they're still waiting for the "talking points" from their boss.

Deflect, deflect, deflect. Seems your take on the Frist issue is that Durban said something too and that Diebold is a straight-shooting company (California sanctions notwithstanding).

That's brilliant and all, but what does it have to do with Frist?

The man used some of the cheapest theatrics in recent political history to spin a lie and paint half the country as murderers, then tries to weasel out of it when he is proven to be wrong. Party of Responsibility and Accountability indeed!

To those who believe all politicians should die, is it the present politicians, or politicians in general? If the latter, perhaps this form of government isn't for you.

All of 'em. The only good politician is a dead politician, and that goes the same for clergy, lawyers, and marketing people. And, no, this form of government isn't for me. None of them are, but I haven't got the means or the inclination to kill everybody who disagrees with me.

And, unlike smeegle, I do think that violence is a solution. It's not the best, but it's a solution nonetheless. If you don't agree, ask Napoleon and Hitler.

Nono. screw 'disassemble', THIS is the best quote from that press conference:

"A couple of more, then I got to hop. Keith. I get to leave. That's not a very -- a couple of more, and then I have to retire, as opposed to hopping."
