(Billings Gazette)   Since all other problems, including a $213 million budget, have been solved, city council spends most of its time arguing over a church's temporary go-kart track   (billingsgazette.com) divider line 25

I am outraged!!! I demand a secular, evolution based go-kart track be erected in close proximity to this so called creationalist monstrosity!

That is the lamest submission I've seen in a long ass time. Barely controversial, very bory and mundane, no fireworks of any kind.

Some church wants something, some people don't like it, but most do so they can have it. This is worthy of a greenlight? man...

I agree with pudding7. Must be a slow news day or something. In any case, the city council probably knew what was in the budget and nobody had any problems with it, so they rubber stamped it. The go kart thing had some opposition, so there you go. Same with the guy who wanted the zoning of his property changed from R-7,000 to R-6,000. Yes, the article was that boring.

No! Don't you get it? It's a CHURCH, pud! A CHURCH! That means Christians! And how could FARK's small but annoying population of fundamentalist atheists miss any opportunity to jerk themselves off over how Christians are an inferior breed what don't know nothin'?

The church has to pack the people in somehow.

I worked at an amusement park one summer when I was in highschool. On the days that I worked at the "challenge park" we had to gas up the go-karts every morning. We'd have little impromptu races to the pumps and generally goof around until customers started showing up. Good times. Except when I had to buckle in the obese people, not good times.

Actually, a lot has happened since Bessie's cow fell over, not to mention the whole scandal as to who tipped her.

That's nothing. Here in San Diego our city is billions of dollars in debt but our number one issue is to save a cross on a hill. No one seems to care about that the city keeps getting sued becuase it's on public land and judge says they can't have the cross. They just keep on trying to skirt the issue.

The fundies keep saying "it's worth whatever it costs". Then why don't the raise the damn money themselves and buy some land and move it on the private property. Because it's "whatever it costs" when it isn't their money.

I've got friends who live in San Diego and if what they tell me about the local politics is anything to go by, the last thing people there should be worrying about is a cross.

San Deigo is also where the person with the most votes loses the mayoral election, with the "winner" then resigning five months later.

"church's temporary go-cart track" - That's just hilarious in itself.

Just wait until they get their permanent track up and running!

"Vacated a portion of Madison Avenue right-of-way east of Orchard Lane, valued at $2,222, and voted to give the land back to the family that gave it to the city in the 1970s"

$2,222?? What kind of land can you get for that? It must be like the "small piece of land" Woody Allen inherited in "Love and War". (a handful of sod)

What was worth back in the 70's when the family donated it, $22?

No, I actually worked at ValleyFair, a small ways outside of Minneapolis. I wanted to visit Cedar Point while I was up there, but in the end I didn't even spend more than half a day visiting the park I actually worked at. Showed up on the last day suited for work so I didn't have to pay admission, did a couple of hours then changed and enjoyed the rides as a visitor for the first time.

It was Bush who pushed that cow down the well. And then lied about it.
