My blood sugar is starting to feel out of whack....

i can see it. i'm a touch hypoglycemic and get super pissy when i haven't eaten for a while. That being said, I think i would still be able stop myself from hitting someone over the head and running him/her over.

Maybe he should argue he thought his wife was suffering from an iron deficiency instead.

The last girl I dated had hypoglycemia. I learned very early to carry food with me wherever we went because of this reason.

Hell hath no fury like an angry hypoglycemic woman.

My girlfriend's dad is a diabetic and once his blood sugar got so low that he didn't know where he was and didn't know who his wife was and almost ended up hurting her. She said it was pretty freakin' scary.

Only a matter of time before they find the real source of his behavior.

Hypoglycemia or not Jerry is getting his a55 kicked by Buddy Rivell at 3 o'clock.

Thanks for posting the decision.

Looks like an intelligent opinion to me. Unless the defendant can get some convincing experts on his side, he likely won't receive a new trial. But if some doctors believe he really may have been incapable of controlling himself, then so be it. The jury will still convict him at his second trial because of the divorce motive.

It's like the Janklow case. Janklow may have been mentally incapacitated at the time of the accident, but he could have taken better care of himself and there was evidence that he habitually disobeyed traffic laws. (BTW, in case anybody missed it his conviction was upheld on appeal a few months ago.)

My brother and my wife are diabetic... this sounds correct to me.

Does no one else attach any significance to the mention of DIVORCE in the article? There may have something other than blood chemistry involved in his behavior.

Oh. Fark. You.

I have hypoglycemia. It's not fun, but dammit, it doesn't make you capable of killing someone.

I'll buy the hammer attack but I doubt it had anything to do with the vehicular homicide.

I dunno, I once watched a neighbor go random as part of a hypoglycemia attack. As in "throw the power mower into the swimming pool". After hospital treatment, all she could remember was being extremely upset about something.

I have hypoglycemia pretty bad. My body is an insulin producing machine, lemme tell ya.

I get flaming angry when my blood sugar gets low enough. But, I dont assault people or anything like that. There is a line, and you still know right vs. wrong. Who knows, maybe his case is more severe, everyone is different.

OK, nobody "has" hypoglycemia. It isn't a friggin' disease. It is a sometime condition, brought about for various reasons. I'm a recently diagnosed Type I diabetic, who has had numerous hypoglycemic episodes over the past two years. I always have glucose tablets with me for such occasions. While it is extremely unpleasant (severe sweats, shaking, dizziness, nausea), I've never been out of control, or gone into a rage. However, I know that if one's blood sugar drops low enough, anything's possible. Including seizures and possibly coma and/or death.

But everything's fine, 'cuz Jacko's a free, um, man.

hoohoodilly:

Does it occur to you that, yes, people "have" a condition called hypoglycemia and the fact that it is a condition and not a disease has no relevance? People are detrimentally afflicted by this condition, and you stand there questioning their pain. I have a right mind to form a hypoglycemic posse, deprive them of food, and find you.

As an insulin-dependent diabetic, I've had hypoglycemic reactions. In those cases, while I may forcibly remove someone who unfortunately happens to be standing between me and a pile of sugar, I am not going to whack them on the head with a hammer.

All of the "it's not my fault, I didn't do anything wrong" crap after trying to kill someone doesn't change the fact that they are capable of murder, and have attempted to kill before.

For the public good, they can't be allowed to go free after doing this, or we'll just have that many more homicidal maniacs on the streets.

2005-06-14 07:48:01 AM
After the wacko jacko case I find nothing strange anymore. Anybody with enough money in his pocket can buy a judge and jury. Hell you can get away with murder.

used to have this problem. Constantly had to tell myself it wasn't really anger.

Grapefruit juice, I"m tellin' ya.

Where does this crap come from? Hypoglycemia, my ass. You're just hungry. People think of these "conditions" to explain their manic behavior.

Stop bothering people. Go and stuff your faces, I hope you choke.

TylerDurden0,

Thank you for showing the world your ignorance. If you've never experienced low blood sugar, then there is no way you'd understand how it is very different from being hungry.

Perhaps you could do a _tiny_ bit of research on the topic, instead of assuming you've got it right, and the world is wrong?

/just sayin...
//...cause otherwise you look like an idiot know-nothing...
///...not saying research would change that for you...

The number of moronic knee-jerk reactions in this thread is refreshingly low. Good job America.
