Um... three feet of water?

The dumbass needs to be fined.

I love her exaggerated trauma. Give me a break. You were on a Jet Ski, people fall off all the time. I'm guessing she wasn't even smart enough to wear the cut-off bracelet dealie around her wrist.

Darwin failed us on this one.

3 feet of water? She couldn't get back on with two people there? She should go ahead and give that child up and hope the adoptive parents can counteract some of the stupid that's going on there.

Didn't want to "swim" back to shore? You don't "swim" in 3 feet of water, you walk back to shore.

Let's see now. Can't swim, speak English, or take care of her children to the point where she would actually make sure that her 4 (and counting) children still have a mother after her ignorant non swimmin' ass goes jet skiing?

Hey lady, do all of us, and your unborn child a favor.
The next time wanna try somethingnew while pregnant, consider prize fighting.

Your tax dollars at work.

55 degrees? Bah. Try cutting through five feet of ice to swim

2005-06-09 05:19:31 AM
Dumbass needs to make sure her baby is given up for adoption because she is far too stupid to raise it on her own. I wonder if she knows who the daddy is?

uhm for the sensationalist aspect of the headline 4 months pregnant is not pregnant. A better headline for the story in the paper would have been "Darwin foiled by doo-gooder rescuers."

She was still too dumb to walk OFF the sandbar INTO the three feet of water. I myself want to slap her silly. And what pregnant had to do with it is beyond me.

I bet the cops enjoyed "rescuing" her instead of dealing with crime.

Er...you idiots biatching about 3 feet of water in the sandbar don't understand how sandbars work. It goes like this: beach, shallow water, deeper water, deep, deep, deep, sandbar! So you can stand up 200 feet from the beach and look cool in front of your friends.

To quote Jerry Sienfeld, yes s/he did.

S/he was the fastest swimmer in his group.

Are farkers aware that the water between a sandbar and land is deeper then the water at said sandbar? Not that I disagree with the comments about this lady being as dumb as a brick for jetskiing while pregnant and for jetskiing without knowing how to swim, not to mention going in the water at all while pregnant and not knowing how to swim. This woman is the reason bottles of bleach say "do not ingest" on them.

2005-06-09 06:12:45 AM
Viewing the video I still can't see how the fark they were unable to get back to shore or where the sand bar was, but jesus fark you don't swim in 3 feet of water you walk to shore. These people apparently don't speak english and are stupid as farks. Looking at her she is much taller than 3 feet. They also had on life jackets, just lay back and kick, don't tell me you don't know how to swim, you don't have any common sense. It was also daylight, I could see problems if it was dark.

They should be sued for wasting resources. There was no danger at any time. They were too lazy and had to call police.

Alright, in that case, dont go jet-skiing if you can't swim?

Now let's see:

They went out on a windy day - not good judgement in retrospect, but not dumbass either.

They fell off. This is the sort of thing that happens on jetskis. Bad luck (or lack of skill) but not dumbass.

Looks like they were using the cutoff, otherwise the article would have mentioned a runanway jetski. Definitely not dumbass.

Finding themselves stranded offshore, they were bright enough to flounder to a sandbar, rather than panic, as non-swimmers tend to do: pretty low on the dumbass quotient.

They had the good sense to wear PFDs, and thus not become yet another drowning case: much brighter than most of the buggers out there.

Lifejackets. They float. You don't.

You don't need to know how to swim when there is a life jacket on your back, you just kick paddle etc. Stupid biatch.

2005-06-09 07:12:17 AM

OK, I'll be the first to admit that my mad skillz do not include getting back on a jetski after falling off (this comes from experience). On the other hand, I'm a strong swimmer (just klutzy and awkward when trying to hoist my bulk out of the water and onto the saddle of said jetski), and when I fall off of a jetski, I'm not in trouble. In fact, I once towed the jetski to shallow water in order to climb back on. If you can swim, it's really not that hard.

These two get the tag from me too.

Something tells me this baby is going to be born with crack in it's system, and abused until the age of 12....

Any jackass who gets ON a jet-ski without learning how to re-mount one first is a dumb-ass.

I can forgive everything else but not that.

2005-06-09 07:48:27 AM
Hey, 55 degress is a biatchilly, but I swim in that all the time.

On the other hand, if your sorry overweight a$$ can't climb back on board, you shouldn't be on board to begin with.

2005-06-09 07:52:49 AM
'no danger in three feet of water' ... 'could have walked ashore' ...

Um, no. Reason being, she was a non-swimmer. She could have panicked in three feet of water and easily drowned. Sounds like she did panic based on the clutching onto her sister. Lifeguards, water-types, back me up here.

(TheSignPost is a scuba instructor and knows of what he speaks... panicked people in the water are more dangerous than a rickety barrel full of dangermonkeys)

/ glub glub

2005-06-09 07:54:06 AM
(PS which means she was a complete dumbass for being on a jetski at all, life-jacket or no, and also irresponsible and dare I say Darwin-fodder for doing it whilst preggers)

am i the only one rofling at the sister's quote?

"She going slow, but in the middle, in the water, she just fell down," ... "Oh my goodness, she hug me and she said how scared she is. She's my sister, she praying and she don't know how to swim."

Hey now, she may not be blessed with "brains"....but at least she's ugly!

And I thought the pic floating around with the lady smoking on her porch wondering about the effect of construction noise on her unborn was stupid.

some of you must have missed it.... 3 FEET of WATER!

what was she, 2'-9" tall ?

3 feet of water + panicked non-swimmer = dead non-swimmer

Trust me. Seems incredible, I know. For further information, check out old episodes of Baywatch.

Newscenter 5s Mary Saladna reported that Ingrid Valles, 29, was in over her head when she and a friend fell off their jet ski in 3 feet of water. Valles can't swim and she is four months pregnant.

Umm, did she try standing up?!

2005-06-09 08:57:26 AM
in my humble opinion just about every person on a jet ski is, as stupid if not stupider than this lady. there always tourists that have no knowledge of maratime law and just drive around like morons jumping my boats wake and cutting infront of me recklessly. no wonder there are like a million jet ski fatalities every second. plus they chop up my wake which makes me mad beyond believe when im trying to wakeboard. go back to your plains state or whatever or atleast say away from me.

/hate jet skiers more than anything

People in New England seem to be total idiots about water safety. After every summer weekend the monday morning news is topped with a list of drowning deaths. People drowning in ponds, lakes, rivers, the ocean. Boating accidents... usually involving alcohol. I spent a lot of time on the water growing up in NY and my wife lived on a boat in CA and neither of us had ever seen a serious accident or drowning before moving to New England.

2005-06-09 09:06:35 AM
ahh jet skis, the snowmobiles of the water.

I was out sailing w/my boss last summer when some asshat jet skier did somethign stupid. Being a buncgh of enviro-types. of course we all professed our dislike for the evil machines.

My boss then looked at us and said: "they are pretty fun though," with an evil grin.

We all agreed on that point- they are a lot of fun, it just takes the common sense to recognize that that particular brand of fun is capable of ruining a lot of other people's day, and therefore needs to be enjoyed far away from other quieter users.

2005-06-09 09:09:36 AM
We're now requiring licenses for the damn things in Canada (jet-skis, not ignorant pregnant people), which I think is a good idea if it keeps incapable operators from killing themselves and others.

Of course, if I had my way, I'd ban them on any small body of water anyway. It may be fun, but the noise pollution and other environmental impacts that affect everyone else aren't worth it for one person's cheap little thrill. (Once again, I'm talking about jet-skis, not pregnant women).
