Color me shocked at the fact that the submitter didn't use the tag.

Would've fit this article better than a lot of the ones submitted with it. I still remember seeing "Meteorite hits Iran" with that tag on the main page a year or so ago...

2005-06-03 04:03:24 PM
Second thought: Let's be glad that the dad's grandson (son's son) didn't try to help them out. Who knows what could have happened then?

I should really remember to finish my post before I make it next time...

There is an O'Henry story for ya.

2005-06-03 04:05:49 PM
Now That's Irony!

2005-06-03 04:10:09 PM
Man, that's sad.

2005-06-03 04:10:41 PM
Imagine the moral dilemma facing the paramedic face when he/she finally arrived only to find he/she had two heart attack victims and only one defibulator?

2005-06-03 04:10:49 PM
Actually, it's not. It's called family history.

2005-06-03 04:10:56 PM
p.s. There's nothing ironic about that story, nitwits

2005-06-03 04:20:56 PM

Ironic woulda been if the paramedic had a heart attack; this is just plain [sad]

?

2005-06-03 07:38:53 PM
Ironic? I agree with others, Sad would trump Strange not Ironic

HackerNetwork: Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......

2005-06-03 07:40:19 PM
Not strange, not ironic.

Very very sad though.
"Marty was real close to Dad," Terry Cox said. "He tried to save his life. And then he saw him die. It was just too much for him. Marty gave his life trying to save Dad's. That makes him a hero in my book."

2005-06-03 07:41:04 PM
Coincidence, not irony.

2005-06-03 07:41:38 PM
Sad

2005-06-03 07:41:58 PM
No, ironic would have been if they both died at a wedding and it was raining.

2005-06-03 07:43:05 PM
Watch out, Chariset! We have two dead already.

2005-06-03 07:46:43 PM
Frankly, I think the tag is in order.

2005-06-03 07:47:11 PM

Your laziness may have just saved your life.

Is THAT ironic?

2005-06-03 07:51:58 PM
Those guys are a sad bunch of Cox.

2005-06-03 07:52:21 PM

That's not ironic, that's just coincidental!

my heart goes out to the family...

Remind me not to get annoyed next time my doctor asks me about family medical history.

2005-06-03 08:06:53 PM
A family friend died a few years ago from a massive heart attack caused by exercise at a heart clinic designed to help prevent potential heart attacks.

Yeah, that worked.

/felt worst for his daughter, who'd lost her mom years before and was in Germany when it happened

2005-06-03 08:15:26 PM
Like father, like son.

There's a lesson here, somewhere...but, alas, I'm too tired right now to spell it out for all of you.

2005-06-03 08:15:50 PM
I heard that it was ALSO the son's wedding day....and it was raining!

/and the plane they were flying in on the way to the ceremony was in the midst of a crashing nosedive!
//and they served their steak dinner on the plane with a SPOON!
///the No Smoking sign on the plane is obvious

2005-06-03 08:21:23 PM
I heard he won the lottery yesterday.

2005-06-03 08:23:57 PM
"There was never any fussing or fighting in the house. Because we respected Dad, we wanted to be like him."

Apparently so much so, that when dad has a heart attack everyone else follows suit...

Someone explain to me why it's not ironic, and give me an altered version of the same story in which it would be ironic.

/And yes a sad tag would work too.

2005-06-03 08:27:55 PM
HackerNetwork: that sandwitch is very nearly worth it.

HackerNetwork: ?

What is that? a deep-fried club sammich?

2005-06-03 08:32:41 PM
It's ironic because he was trying to SAVE his father from a heart attack morans

2005-06-03 08:33:55 PM
His 47-year-old son Marty Cox...the son that never left home, went into cardiac arrest himself.

47 years old and still living with his parents? Damn! Dude deserved to die.

/kidding
//1 ticket please

2005-06-03 08:34:08 PM
No one is questioning the ironicnessity, it's the fact that this is sadder than it is ironic because this is really farking sad... douche bag

2005-06-03 08:29:00 PM crazy_gaijin

What is that? a deep-fried club sammich?

Yup.

Some call it a Monte Cristo.

Others call it Heart Attack On A Plate.

And yet others say it's worth it.

I've had that thing before. The picture doesn't do it justice, as it comes sprinkled with powdered sugar and a raspberry sauce(!).

It would be ironic if the father had survived.

Pinko_Commie: It would be ironic if the father had survived.

It definitely would have been MORE ironic if the father had survived and the son had died, this is true.

2005-06-03 09:26:02 PM
henrietta hots epistax? rawr i want some.

I'll have to agree that this is quite sad.

But it is still ironic nonetheless...

God, that poor guy. The terror of seeing his father dying, and the desperate hope that he, with all his farm boy skills, might possibly be able to save him. Just pumpng away as the man who had raised and loved him, chocked and convulsed in his arms. And that fear of not being able to help him, of not, after all that his old man had done for him, of not being able to do this one thing, of not being able to save him.

How terribly sad. What a terrible thing to happen to anyone.
