Interesting sidenote:
You know, they mentioned this in the articles that talked about the BK Veggie burgers the first time.

I knew about this already, and when I went to BK to try one, I made a point to have them microwave it.

They broiled it before the cashier told him to microwave it, and were like, "Well, will you just take the broiled burger?"

I told them, "No, I'm vegetarian.."

The cashier's response: "Man, why are you vegetarian?"

The menu may change, but the attitude stays the same.

I suggest that vegetarians avoid Burger King like the plague.

Why did the Burger King go to the bathroom?

To lay a Whopper.

aaaah... 3rd grade memories. :)

Jesus, this is just someone looking for a fight. Its people like this who give vegitarians a bad rap. People like this and Hitler.
2002-04-06 01:12:21 PM
What the... The burgers at the King are cooked
on a conveyor belt over flames. So this article
is a complete waste of time. And i guess this
writing is too...

Don't forget Mussolini, Cheshire; his doctor is the one who turned Hitler on to vegetarianism. That and the curious fact that Hitler never ate meat again after the niece he was farking killed herself.

WHy are you a vegetarian. we need to eat animals, they are tasty.

PETA, People for the Eating of Tasty Animals.

Go and have a lettuce wedge and be happy with it.

I guess that I missed out on the ad that said,

Burger King: Our veggie burgers are guaranteed 100% separated from the beef. Try our Onion Rings, too! Guaranteed not fried in the same grease as our fish sandwiches!
2002-04-06 01:15:24 PM
BK burgers are "cooked in meat sauce," crazy vegetarian lady? Are they dipping those things into the deep fryer when we're not looking?
2002-04-06 01:15:26 PM
Hrm, well not really meat juices, just whatever grease did not get burned and some ash.

Worked at Burger King in High School. Haven't been able to eat the food there since.
2002-04-06 01:15:59 PM
Veg heads == PETA

Do what you want, but just shut the fark up about it and quit being so farking annoying all the time.
2002-04-06 01:17:20 PM
"I suggest vegetarians avoid Burger King like the plague". As if they aren't already?

I like the quote from the article where the vegetarian claims the vegetarian burgers are cooked in "meat sauce". Huh? They are broiled on a conveyor belt over a gas flame, spilled into a tray and slapped on a bun.

This woman probably believes TGIFriday, Chili's and other places have a completely separate kitchen for their veggie burgers.

Stop nit-picking. Either eat it or head elsewhere. The omnivores of the world find you to be a total bore.
2002-04-06 01:17:29 PM
I've got to ask, would those of you who are vegetarians also persecute/shun "Meat Tossers"? Seriously, by purchasing food from Burger King, she is helping to support a chain that thrives on the sale of animal flesh.
2002-04-06 01:17:48 PM
first of all.. who'd ever eat a vegetarian sandwich at burger king? Who eats at burger king on that note? and where the hell is trucksville, hmm advice.. stick to tofu.
2002-04-06 01:18:10 PM
Isn't Ford the new mayor of Trucksville?
2002-04-06 01:19:18 PM
Veg heads != PETA

PETA is a subset of veg heads.
2002-04-06 01:19:41 PM
Burger King (and most other fast food restaurants) are shooting themselves in the foot by not trying a little harder - I don't go to hamburger joints because there's nothing for me to eat as a vegetarian (french fries aren't a meal). If they're in the whole thing to make money, this isn't the way to do it.
2002-04-06 01:19:44 PM
ONO! Burger King is going to lose all their vegan customers!

they might go bankrupt!
2002-04-06 01:21:42 PM
Are you telling me that they are getting that vegetarian crap on my Whopper? That is outrageous.

Who wants to picket with me?

"Tofu hot dogs are merely an isotope of meat. If you yourself are a vegetarian, but still dream of burgers, then all you really are is a cryptocarnivore." -- Douglas Coupland, Microserfs
2002-04-06 01:24:52 PM
anyone see the south park from a couple weeks ago, the "Veal" episode? those anemic looking people they drew for the vegetarians, thats what i think of. buying tofu and stuff...and remember, if you eat dont eat meat, you get acute vaginitis.
2002-04-06 01:26:19 PM
Totally unrelated, but since its fast food I figure what the hell? WHEN IS MCDONALDS BRINGING BACK BREAKFAST BURRITOS TO MARYLAND? Cmon, dont we have some McD farkers in here with an inside scoop?

Ok, I'll make it related now. I worked at BK for a yearin high school till I got fired for stealing money from them*. I still eat there all the time, love that stuff.

[*I proved them wrong and they offered me my job back. By then I'd moved up in the world to busboy at Ruby Tuesday's so I told em to go to hell.]
2002-04-06 01:26:56 PM
customer 1: "You got meat all over my veggies!"

customer 2: "You got veggies all over my meat!"

Both together: "hey!!! This tastes great!!!"

cue jingle: "Two great tastes that taste great together!"

shot: happy customers dance off arm-in-arm joyfully.

And did she sue them? Neine. Vegetarians aren't just Americans!
2002-04-06 01:35:39 PM
Shut up
2002-04-06 01:38:30 PM
Karpage: I love that note.... mostly because I'm a math student.

On another note, being a vegetarian myself I know what the person was complaining about. Personally, I won't eat any veggie burgers unless I make them myself because of the fact that people are insensitive to the fact that I am eating a veggie burger because I don't want to eat meat. You would think that is obvious, but when you prepare them on the same grill, use the same spatula to flip them, use the same spoon/knife or whatever to put things on with you aren't realizing the whole idea of eating the veggie burger in the first place.

And just because someone is a vegetarian it doesn't directly follow that they are animal rights activists, damn dirty hippies, or want to bring down these meat touting fast food restaurants. Personally, I don't like the idea of eating meat, but if other people eat it I am not going to lose sleep over it. I'd prefer if they didn't, but I'm realistic.

In the words of Puddy: "I don't care. I'm not the one going to hell" (and no I am not saying that I think meat eaters are going to hell)
2002-04-06 01:40:28 PM
Seriously, vegetarians comprise a very tiny portion of the population and vegens even smaller. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and she realizes this and so doesn't biatch that Bennigans has pre mixed nach mix that has meat in it. However some of her friends would be pissed that the Outback doesn't have a vegen menu, not just one or two dishes, but menu! If you make the choice to not eat meat, don't biatch when everyone doesn't conform to your "needs"

Fark a Duckk
2002-04-06 01:40:31 PM
When will the vegetarians complete their logic and refuse to eat any vegetation? I mean, after all, its grown ON THE SAME LAND that animals walk upon!

I am one of those weirdos that doesn't like tomato slices on my burger. Guess what, I take it off and am able to control my righteous outrage over the 1 ml of 'mater juice that is left behind. BTW, by refusing to eat your french fry because it came in contact with beef oil somewhere, you are NOT magically bringing a cow back to life. It doesn't work that way.

Vegetarians should be required by law to have their canine teeth filed down into mini-molars by a dentist. That, or sign a contract saying they'll grow up and accept the "dietary diversity" of others without getting all pissy about it.
2002-04-06 01:41:18 PM
I sooooooooooooo divorced my ex for this type of shiat. and let live and eat a freaking spot of bacon greese for christs sake and shut up about it. Dumbass...Dumbass people.

Stevarooni is funny.

You know, this woman is just a dipshiat looking for a lucrative lawsuit like every other professional victim with a lawyer. People like this irritate the hell out of me. I don't mind vegetarians, I don't mind vegans, but as my mother always told one likes a whiner.
2002-04-06 01:51:35 PM
Just read Fast Food Nation and some of you drive-thru acolytes may even turn away from these vultures.

Then again, ignorance is bliss. You really don't want to know what's in the meat.

And a really big pain in the neck.

Thank you.

This has been "Dot's Poetry Corner."

I love how the burger kig spokeswoman tries to write it off by saying "We didn't market the vegie-burger as vegan". Well, obviously she didn't do her research. They DID market it towards vegetarians and vegetarians do NOT eat meat. Period. Inclusive in the whole "meat" catagory is the fat and juices of said meat. This isn't a vegan issue, it's a vegetarian issue.

It's just like saying, "Oh, you are alergic to peanuts? Well, try our new product that is peanut free! What? Oh, well yeah... there are peanut SHELLS in the product, d'uh... but we swear, no peanuts!" A kid that's allergic to peanuts will still have a reaction to said product. This is an open and close case... if vegetarians sue over this, it will be won. Period.

Let them fight it out on the track fair and square.
2002-04-06 01:54:41 PM
Ah yes, I forgot my analogy. For all of those people who don't quite understand why that "1 ml of 'mater juice" bothers us...

I would say it is a reasonable assumption that most people are opposed to eating a human being. In fact, most people would be opposed to eating a cat or dog. So lets say you were over at a friends house who decided to make a nice meal with a stir fry of cat, dogs, and human. Would you like it if a bit of that mater juice wound up on your plate? Probably not. But you would just have to grow up and accept the dietary diversity of others.

I mean, after all, its grown ON THE SAME LAND that animals walk upon!
2002-04-06 01:54:49 PM
Ha ha! It's funny to see people whining so much about the fact that others are whining.
2002-04-06 01:55:11 PM
i swear to farking christ if i hear one more idiot who thinks that the "People Eating Tasty Animals" thing is funny the 10000000th time, I'm gonna snap.

I thought BK flame broiled their burgers and didnt use a grill...I may be wrong. If I worked there and this whiny biatch came to eat at my retaraunt, I would rub her burger on my balls and ask how she liked THAT meat...
2002-04-06 01:58:10 PM
"What's a vegetarian doing in Burger King?"

Uh, probably wanting to try what they thought was a safe veggie burger, retard.
2002-04-06 01:58:17 PM
"Thank God I didn't eat any."

Yeah, because if, God forbid, you happen to actually acidentally eat some MEAT JUICE, you might just die, or the entire world could come to an end.

I can understand not wanting to eat meat. But acting like it's going to kill you if you touch it is a little out there.
2002-04-06 01:59:37 PM

And they act so proud of it, like they thought it up themselves, or like it's the first time anyone's ever heard it. It really screams, "I'm an uncreative dumbshiat."

So let this vegitarian asswipe go to the fruit grain and nut store and get his farking burgers and leave the normal people alone...

Actually, a lot of vegetarians use the axiom that if a creature lacks a central nervous system, it's okee to eat. So, some of "us" go ahead and eat squid and stuff like that.

On an ethical level, it all comes down to sentience, not association. A tomato is not self-aware, a cow or a chicken or a human is.

For the record, I do it for (mostly)pragmatic reasons, not ethical ones.

So let this vegitarian asswipe go to the fruit grain and nut store and get his farking burgers and leave the normal people alone...

I still don't understand why meat eaters are even concerned by this article. It doesn't affect them at all. Nothing was removed from the menu to make way for the veggie burger, and how it's cooked doesn't concern them.

Bottom line: Meat eaters are enraged by the fact that anyone is vegetarian. It just makes them mad, and they feel the need to ridicule it.

Lizardking: How are you NOT being left alone?
2002-04-06 02:07:34 PM
Lizardking: Other than by me not closing the bold tag, I mean?
2002-04-06 02:08:03 PM
i'm on the fence about eating animasl. sometimes i feel that i should give it up, and other times i feel that i am at the top of the food chain and thats just that.
but i hae decided that if i do stop eating meat, i'm not going to be a vegetarian, i'm just going to not eat meat and shut up about it.
on the other hand, my personal health issues prevent me from eating RED meat, so if i had a veggie burger with beef stuff all over it, that would suck. i can see both sides of it. if it were me, i'd just ask if it was cooked seperately. if not, i'd ask them to. if they couldn't, i'd go somewhere else. actually, if it was me i wouldn't go to burger king cause their food sucks.
2002-04-06 02:10:20 PM
Why don't the vegetarians eat at some place like VeggieBurger or HitlerBurger, and leave Burger King for us normals.
